I was so irritated I went and read all the online rants. Apparently the dungeon scenes (both) are not even in the novel. But I guess once they built the set they had to use it at least 2x!!!

I enjoyed both dramas but I think this has much higher production values and is much more original. I found the comedic writing in WRTW a lot funnier even if it is a bit cliche. I find the humor in ADOS to be more hit or miss; while there are some hilarious moments there are as many moments where it is a bit forced and not that funny (esp Dai Xu, he does nothing for me). Even though both couples have great chemistry, I think there is more passion, intensity and development in the ADOS CP, I found the WRTW CP good but too perfect and incredibly static.
Question If LS was able to kill SMZ then how LC would have behaved.
It is a good question to which there is no answer. But I will say that LS in a way not only may have killed SMZ (we will see), he killed any prospect of their relationship with what he did. What a selfish old bastard he did not love his daughter even one inch. He knew he lost and that he was going to die and he knew SMZ was the love of his daughter's life. His last act was to make sure they would never be together and LC is the way she is in no small part bc of him. It is too bad he is dead, he can't be killed again.
The close to ending shot of the 4 of them look so ordinary... ... except they all have million dollar movie star smiles... 🤣🤣🤣 Bravo!!! 8.5 Douban.

Can't really argue with that... the plot and WXS character went off the cliff at the same time. And it is true that for a wuxia, the power levels of the characters have never been that consistent.
They have to show / reveal who rap** LC otherwise they will be giving wrong massage to us that you can get away…
The reveal has happened but it doesn't change the fact that the rape is the catalyst for LC's character development. The director, who insisted on including the scene defends it as being true to the novel. The novelist also defends the inclusion of the scene. I still don't like it but it is what it is.
Well at least tonight's episodes are actually quite good again, recovering somewhat from yesterday's disaster
especially SMZ and LC's scenes - I really felt that they really loved each other for the first time. And was moved by their story even though it is a bit of a tired trope. MZY's LC is one of the best acted roles in this drama. She looks so lovely and sweet its hard to believe she can pull off consumed by pain and hatred so well. As for BCF it has become very clear now they are going to whitewash the character. I can't help being pretty disappointed to see that. In the novel he is an arrogant, entitled and ambitious villain who reaches out and takes what he wants knowing the consequences, Friendship and brotherhood are important but not important enough. This is much more interesting than one that gets manipulated or brainwashed into his villainy. That just makes him kind of weak and a tool of other people instead of a villain who chose to be that way. FYK is just a poor substitute of a less interesting final villain even though I think his acting is also very good. He is just the archetypal kind that has been done before too many times.
Next BCF will be made to look like Cousin It. And I had to ffw WR’s whole thing; I couldn’t even.

Yeah he is a cynical character and one that doesn't expect to live long. So he kind of saw the writing on the wall already whereas poor LC still loved him with an idealistic young girl's heart.

BCF is supposed to be a very very good villain the way it is written in the book. Unfortunately the actor struggled with the role and has been rather open about it to his credit. So apparently some of the villainy was "moved" to FYK. This happened with most of the characters bc the novelist writes very complicated characters that younger actors just have a harder time portraying. So it is like the 3 leads are MIA and all the heavy lifting is done by the veterans. I am not knocking any of them I just think it is a casting issue, I have the first 2 books and have been skimming through them so I am starting to understand a bit more why people are complaining.
