Still my favourite JBL👌It’s interesting that my favourite BLs on MDL are mostly rated somewhere between 7.5 and 8.4 max🤔Whenever I watch something rated higher than that I never end up liking it😂Maybe there is a tendency here to give ”comforting” or ”relationship goals” shows high ratings while more complex dynamics are not so appreciated (which is fair, everyone has their own system for rating). I found Hira’s self-esteem issues and his tendency to put Kiyoi on a pedestal so interesting, as well as how that affected their relationship over time. I guess I’m only drawn to a series if the characters are complex enough that you could write meta and character-studies about them, which you can’t really do with your average cute and traditionally wholesome BL. Utsukare, Kinnporsche and Semantic error are my holy BL trinity :D (also what was in the water in 2021-2022, like whatever it was please put it back haha)
How did you guys get bromance from the trailer pls explain cause to me it just looks like Ryu is going to fall…
To me it gave the vibe that Johan might have comphet and be more closeted—we shall see. But yeah, nothing bromance about it lol Even if there was zero romantic feelings between the leads at all (which I don’t believe is the case here), it would still not be a bromance because bromance is a category describing a close platonic dynamic between two straight guys.
To me it is very clear from the trailer that this is not a bromance but a semi-tragic love story. That being said, I understand the worry of some people because bromance used to be so common and has recently been pushed again elsewhere. That kind of stuff creates trust issues, which is why it is so harmful. As we can see now, people who have been baited before are expecting to get baited again even though all evidence points against it😅It is sad that actual queer series ends up being doubted due to broader industry practises and tendencies😔
Good point! I honestly enjoy the subtle BLs more than the explicit ones. I guess I value the other levels of intimacy…
As long as it doesn’t leave everything to subtext and make you doubt whether they are romantically into each other or not, I don’t care if there are no kissing or bed scenes. Subtle romances can be fantastic!
what's with GMMTV Bromance thingy? I don't know much about it can you please elaborate?
I don’t want to talk too much about it here as I said above, but to sum it up, this time they took it too far by having Wu air on gagaoolala, a platform meant for exclusively LGBT content, tagging it falsely as BL and Gay, even though it is not. This kind of misleading marketing is the literal definition of queerbaiting.
Are you also going to complain every time they make Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson just friends?
No, because Sherlock is not on gagaoolala, a platform exclusively for lgbt+ content, falsely tagged as BL and gay. This is what people take issue with.
For people who want to know what they can do to prevent queerbaiting becoming normalized and spreading even outside GMMTV:
1. Unsubscribe Gagaoolala and inform them of it with an email, clearly but politely explaining your stance and reasoning. You can also express your interest to resubscribe if Wu is removed from their lineup.
2.Watch the series on unofficial sites. Watching this way will not result in any profit for Gagaoolala or GMMTV. You can often find episodes on unofficial sites hours after they air officially (e.g. Dailymotion)This way fans can enjoy the series without worrying about contributing to harmful practises.
Good decision. This should have been on some other platform from the start.
