I agree. There is a lot of shows but most of them are not good. BL fans tend to have some of the lowest standards for shows that Iāve ever seen. Minimum effort series can often be very profitable for companies as fans watch anything with their faves in it. Throw in a bit of cheap off-screen fan service and popularity is almost guaranteed. I hope as the quantity of shows keeps increasing people will start to seriously become more selective and develop standards so that producers will have a reason to improvešPayback is a positive development as it is clear they invested in both script and production.
Iām no expert but I donāt think keeping a production company alive nominally costs that much (if anything). So could be simply for cosmetic reasons.
If Mike has plans to produce a new project in the future it would probably have to be less ambitious and smaller in scale. Also any pilot trailer would not really be taken seriously anymore unless they already had funding secured and filming locked in. I donāt think there is anything planned tbh but Iām open to being surprised lol

They will probably work together again because they are from the same company. I kinda hope we would get more project-based temporary pairings though because it signals the project is more prestige as opposed to just a vehicle for the actor ship brand (series as the main product versus actor ship as the main product)

You have to stand out more and more with your show if you donāt want people to stand it up in favor of something else.
Probably because the project is not happening anymore, or at least not with the original cast. I mean itās been pretty obvious for a while as Mike has not mentioned the project for like a year now.
Iām really curious what Jeff will do on the second anniversary of the pilot which is coming soon. Last year he posted a script snippet, so what he does (or doesnāt do) this year is very telling. If the project cannot be salvaged in its original form, it would be a good occasion to call it quits and give fans closure. Or announce a pivot to novel or something as you suggested. Because if Jeff just keeps talking about Happy Ending with no progress for much longer it will become a credibility problem for SOS no matter how beloved Jeff is.
When a project gets abandoned it rarely happens because the creator wants to abandon it. The usual cause is inability to secure funding fully or overestimating oneās own capacity to execute the project (common pitfall for first-time producers) This can result in heavy financial losses, not to mention wasted time and effort, but sometimes it just canāt be helped. If the barriers preventing Happy Ending from entering production are significant, it will not happen no matter how hard Jeff or anyone else would like it to :(

Why do so many people in BL fandom nowadays use the word twink like itĀ“s a slur/insult....Almost like a replacement for faggot. I see it all the time on MDL and elsewhere too. Do you guys know the actual definition of twink? Because the word gets thrown around about characters that in no way are twinks.IĀ“ve seen people call JayĀ“s actor a twink too and not in a kind way lol. If you donĀ“t like the portrayal of a charcter or think they are weak do not use "twink" to convey that. Also many people tend to forget that there are different ways to be strong. Strength is not only about physique and fighting ability but can be about intellect, mental fortitude or emotional intelligence.
Even in those relatively rare cases when projects are actually filmed in secret under NDAs they do not just drop on a random Tuesday without any promotion. Big projects start promotions months ahead of release. Jeff is most likely protecting his image and trying to maintain fan goodwill. Projects in Thailand are rarely cancelled publicly unless rights run out because cancellation can hurt reputation. This is why we have so many Thai projects that were never officially cancelled but that never happened either.
