I'm also an American, and also old enough to remember when it came out the first time, but I don't remember being weirded out by their relationship when I saw it because it was based on an old novel. But I know many people were squicked out by it, and I get that, I guess. It doesn't bother me as much since they weren't related by blood at all, and they weren't really even step-siblings any longer since their parents had gotten divorced (I forget how many times her dad had gotten married....)
For me, it makes a difference how long folks have known each other, and what their family dynamics are like. I care a lot more about other issues within relationships (consent, toxicity, mutuality, etc) than I do about step-siblings dating but to each their own, for sure.

I watched the movie Clueless a couple of days ago, and was a tad bit disgusted when I remembered how it ended.…

Clueless is loosely based on Jane Austen's 1815 novel, "Emma." Also, Josh and Cher were EX-step siblings, as Josh's mom was one of Cher's dad's ex-wives. So they weren't blood related, and their parents weren't married anymore.

He is the man I love to hate... such good analysis material... it does not get much clearer than his behaviour.…
It’s one of the best dramas ever made, in my humble opinion. LOL! I could write a whole article on just this one drama - it has everything you just mentioned, and more. So brilliant.

I am a HUGE Gong Hyo Jin fan but this movie was just plain awful. No one is likeable, they're drunk off their asses the entire film, and no one acts like they're actually in their thirties. At least one of these characters is a straight up alcoholic, and several more are on their way. It just wasn't any fun....except for two scenes, which both involved non-humans (and the only likeable "characters".)

I wasn't planning on watching this drama, but your article changed my mind! Putting it in my PTW list right now...

Propaganda?! You mean like showing that there are actually LGBTQ+ people who exist in South Korea (and have for a long time?) It's called representation, not propaganda.

Reply 1988?!? Dr. Romantic?!? Hotel Del Luna?! Wha?!?!? These make NO sense to me.
Now HIStory 4: Close To You? Check. Playful Kiss? Check. She Was Pretty? Check. But I see no similarity between the atrocious Playful Kiss ML and...basically anyone else....unless we're talking about Yong Jie from HIStory4.
