Well, now it is confirmed. Nikko has an incurable terminal illness. The question is whether he is only paralyzed by the end of the show and we won't see his death or he literally dies at the end.
Well, the acting isn't great, but you don't need to be Marlon Brando if you look like Raynold Tan. The acting…
To me the acting is fine. They all make their characters a lot more relatable for me than many other, more practiced actors from some of the currently ongoing Thai or Korean shows the MDL audience is usually head over heels for. Yes, none of them are Eleonora Duse, but they are all rookies, and people here are unncecessarily and unfairly judgemental about them. And I cannot help thinking it is just because they are Pinoy, and that is even sadder.
In spite of the the last 2 episodes being needlessly overlong, this is still an enjoyable amalgam of slow-burning romance and sharp look at Asian office culture.
Btw in spite of my own comment earlier, there is still a chance we are being set up and faked out with a red herring. Nikko in wheelchair in the trailer might be there to mislead us. He mentioned he had missed the prom last year. Him in the wheelchair might have been in the past, and that might be a flashback.
It is getting increasingly likely that Nikko is seriously ill and he is probably dying. I hope I am wrong but the hints are just coming. Him being abroad earlier for some reason that was "not normal travel", his mother telling him not to be attached, him wanting to be remembered as a good person. Even the title has a hint about this.
This low-budget series has much better acting (especially considering all 3 leads are rookies) and writing than most of the currently ongoing Thai and Korean BL shows, and it is quite hilarious how people who are generally swooning over and swallow every trope when they come from those are now bitching and nitpicking about the tiniest little details on this one.
There are some hidden Pinoy gems from after 2020 as well, like Love Beneath the Stars.
I have downloaded both seasons with subtitles back then, so I have them on my external drive. That is the asset of being a collector. For the same reason I still have Lakan , 90 days, Unguarded, Hookup, Truly Very Yours - a few interesting early indie Pinoy BL productions which have now gone from YouTube.
I really recommend Gameboys and Hello Stranger as great Filipino BL’s to watch. Just Like the Movies is the…
Sorry, but this cancel culture I swear is the cancer of our times. That series is a little diamond, a lot of talented people were involved in it, and putting it on index just because of this is the invalidation of their hard work for no reason. That is just unacceptable. Not to mention it was - and as far as I know it still is - just an accusation. ( Btw the writer was accused, not the director). But even if it was true, it has nothing to do with the product. This is a very dangerous way of thinking.

I have yet to watch all these. I know Meet My Angel 1 and 2 are worth watching for the stellar acting, but I have not started it yet, knowing how hard to take they could be due to the heavy subject as well Jodi Garcia's insufferable trademarks, but I will defo give it a go. I tried Stranger's Kiss but I was not strong enoough for that, maybe at some other time. I loved Lihim but I have aonly listed series and not m ovies or short now.

By far not the only one. If you check the comments. most of those who saw it were enthused. Too bad it was behind a paywall, it prevented it from receiving the adulation it deserves.
Other fantastic Pinoy gems from 2021 and then on were Stuck on You and Daddy Love. Also noteworthy were the following imho: PRE*SO, Padayon, Papa What is Love, Love at the End of the World, Love Is, Clik Clak Clok and My Freaky Love Story.
A slow-burning, well-acted and character-driven little divertissement, quiet and heart-warming so far, yet with a possible storm just around the corner.

Jesus Fecking Christ. Are you for real that a gem like Gaya Sa Pelikula is not "PC to watch" just because the director allagedly has harrassed one of the leads? What a madness!
I was mixed on this. I had trouble staying awake in the first half, and I thought the drunkenness was a complete…
I could have lived without the drunkenness as well but to be honest it did not add much nor was it used for substituting any exchange of emotions. Jeng was already aware of Pat being the one who had submitted the evaluation straight away, the drunk act just reinforced this, and he is more than likely aware of Pat's simoultaneous attraction towards him at the same time, it is clear from the way Jeng is looking at his awkwardness with smile.
