Thnx, the topic of Japanese tv standards is a bit more complex due to not being as widely talked about in international spaces as Korean tv standards (example: removal of historical-sensitive topics) or Chinese tv standards (That 1 regulatory media-department that bans a lot).

From what I can find, generally tv-stations in Japan tend to follow the guidelines of ''日本民間放送連盟 放送基準''/The Japan Commercial Broadcasters Organisation. Which do seem to state to avoid explicit scenes & nudity.

But I do think BL on tv in general tends to really try and limit direct intimacy in their storylines regardless of guidelines. Straight romance shows do this very often too in Japan from what I've seen, so it might be a romance-genre thing. One of the pros is that we do get other cute moments or different ways of showing affection but it can feel limiting at times. But yeah it does help to be more used to it when you primarily watch Japanese romance shows like my case.

I think if you're more used to specifically only Japanese BL dramas then it doesn't stand out. This is not deviating from the norm that much and actually feels very well performed.

If you regularly watch Thai & Chinese BL dramas then obviously your standards may be very different. You may counter with the fact that Japanese movies can be extremely explicit, but for that it's; Japanese tv tends to be pretty strict and most dramas do have to be aired on tv for which there seem to be stricter guidelines. The manga of this show is much more explicit than the actual show.

Yes some shows do have more action going on but if they're aired on Japanese tv, usually not that much more. Which is kinda weird since in the 90s Japan had a ton of explicit & violent themes on tv (See the famous 90s melodrama LGBT-show: Dosokai (1993)) but nowadays things are just different.

It's a detective romance BL but it's very wholesome.

Basically, if you liked Cherry Magic or Old Fashioned Cupcake, then you're probably gonna like this show too.

For me the same ^^ It brought me straight back to the vibes of CM & OFC. And for me I also have had a history of detective bromance shows so this show as a pick was going to always be a hit. Its been an amazing BL so far and I have high hopes for the last 5 eps.

Takoi is definitely not a perfect person. His whole being popular-persona lends him some good parts but as we saw, also bad parts.

He obviously has long learned the replies other people want to hear and how to keep himself popular and will probably default to that when confronted. I think it will be very interesting to see how he grows from here but in any case he will have to become more forward in his approach as he has pushed away Shiono for now.

But also watch Beyond Evil, its iconic.

Again every episode is peak JBL. I truly hope this show gets the hype it deserves.

Yeah that's because MDL only allows edits from ''official'' sources.

So if even one existing English site (letterboxd in this case) has made a description of the movie, that one will usually be preferred above manual translations from Japanese sites. But maybe someday a better translation will be made and added.

And thinking about the ending (spoilers):

I does something far more important than giving a 100% feelgood ending. It shows that life continues also after what seems like a big failure, it doesn't have to be all or nothing. Because the effort they put in, may help them in their other paths too.

It really relayed the stress of having to pass an exam well XD good story and the teaching methods are quite quirky.
