Im out here shipping these mythical dudes. Garuda X Naga ship for life, they may be archenemies in the ancient texts but here I can see the potential.

Oh, it's definitely about Yukio Mishima. In fact, it's acknowledged as such by all the American critics who reviewed…
Finding them is indeed nearly impossible but from what I've found for myself: I personally enjoy learning the stories (and reasons for filming the movie) much more than the movie itself XD So I write synopsis after synopsis on what sounds unique to me.
Cause to be fair with gay pinks from my experience... The story is like 1/3rd of the movie and the rest is just them getting it on. Which is valid, but yeah don't watch pinks for the story lol. But the variety and uniqueness of ideas for these films are cool.

No problem! If you wanna look into more real-life inspiration-stories of gay pinks you can also look into: Nirvana no Hito.
It's inspired by a real gay actor who died in the 70s, that man was my bias actor of that era.

Alternatively, the only gay pink of Yukio's novels that got filmed is: Ai no Shokei.

I know about both of these because I added them to MDL based on online synopsis I found of them.

Ye I tend to pop up on more obscure BL pages XD its cause I wanted to research the entire history of Japanese BL, though I have finished that now so moved onto researching kabuki to kinda get that nice continuation effect of entertainment forms throughout Japanese history.

For me I also started in 2020 ^^ Yukio Mishima, while being one of the most interesting writers Japan has had, is one of many people in Japanese entertainment history that have caught my interest. I like learning peoples stories, their motivations and their lives. People in entertainment business like actors but also some writers have had interesting lives usually.

I researched him due to his connection with the first gay pink film. More recently I delved into Kabuki-artform and he popped up again as a person involved in that artform.
He did write some gay literature as well. There's actually a gay pink film based on one of his novels out there.

But I do generally know what he's about, a controversial tortured soul from a traditionalist family who regretted not having partaken in the war and carried that guilt into obsessing over military stuff.
But anyway everyone can have their own interpretations about his intentions and stuff.

Yeah, side-note but he was also big into kabuki for a while.

It's also been a long time since they had a female protagonist. The height of the Heian era is also rarely covered…
Heian is indeed SO rare to see and that while its honestly my favorite Japanese era. I got to know it through snippets of Heian culture in jdramas and of course the Hikaru Genji story and honestly its such an interesting era to learn about and the clothing is so many layers, its cool to see.
