I was happily surprised hearing of a remake but also worried. However, having seen 17 episodes now, there have been plenty of cute moments to keep me engaged. Its got a different enough atmosphere for me and I actually look forward to seeing the iconic moments.
Considering some of the past comments that have been made here I'll share my experience too. Okay so to me this drama was never about who the killer was. Its about the tension-filled atmosphere, the chemistry between the male leads, the overcoming of pain and the slow unravelling of the story.
Shin Ha Kyun and Yeo Jin Goo did some amazing acting in this one which carried the show. I was always curious how the complex bond between them would develop and I feel like the producers did intend for this to be the focus. I mean even the drama poster focusses on the two male leads sitting in opposite directions but still locked and close to each other. Representing their connection to each other as something they can't escape and have to deal with even if they can't face it properly initially. Is Joo Won annoying sometimes? Yes but if you take into consideration his background (which is shown in the show) then you can kind of understand how he grew to be like this.
Dong Shik and Joo Won constantly challenge each other from the beginning and it takes a lot for their initial impressions of each other to change. That is a journey to watch, the murder story was secondary for me. It was enough to me to make it my favorite show of 2021. Is it a bit long? Yeah same as honestly the majority of kdramas so that didn't keep me from liking it.
