One of the few cases where male leads are written better than the female leads. The Grandmother was the MVP though. The Grandmother and HJP relationship was the best thing in the series. Unfortunately Bae Suzy, despite all her beauty, is just not good enough of an actress to be the lead. Not bad, but not leading material. The mother was such a badly written character, but at least she was amusing. Business/Tech /legal stuff is so bad, there is no need to get upset about it lol.
It is certainly watchable, and has one of the better triangles. Decent 6.5/10
enough with the old man x beautiful fl, please write something like another miss oh
Actually Another Miss Oh! while a good series is by far her weakest. She started to become a star screenwriter only when she stopped dramas like Another Miss Oh!, I hope she never return to that type of dramas again. There are already tens of others writing series like AMO.
Also this drama is NOT a romance. Romance is just part of it, and the kind of romance that is mainly spiritual.
I just finished it and now I want another 3 seasons 😄 I loved it!!!
it needed 3-4 more episodes, but no need for more seasons.
If Kdrama had the season system (sadly it is increasingly moving towards it), we probably had now My Mister S7, and everyone would be saying "Do you remember how amazing S1 was" . Instead of that we got two more fantastic series like My Liberation Notes and We Are All Trying Here. Let PHY write for us another gem in few years instead of dragging things to death.
You are making two points:*I strongly disagree with the first. The writer knew exactly what she was doing. If…
Let me first say there is no need for challanges :) We are just exchanging views about a drama.
Ok. Fair enough. I see your point. I guess it is a matter of taste. I didn't need a kiss. Those speeches were so beautiful, I felt satsfied.
I do, however, strongly disagree on your assertion that the writer didn't know, or was afraid. I don't want to spoil many series here, so I will be vague. In her earlier work characters do kiss, and properly. However, at some point she pivoted to a more contemplative writing, and since then there weren't any kisses if I am not mistaken. It is a deliberate action on her part. You can argue she is wrong in doing so, and you have the right to do so. But, it is not out of being clueless, or scared.
After 24 hours pondering how this show was a magnificent joy ride for ten episodes, but went into hyper-rush mode…
You are making two points:
*I strongly disagree with the first. The writer knew exactly what she was doing. If you have seen her other works, then you know she doesn't do conventional romance. Furthermore, I think their relationship would have suffered (at least in my eyes)if we have seen them kissing, or having a conventional confession. I thought it was way more romantic and wholsome the way it was done in the series. He said I love you in a much more poetic way. All that said, you still have the right not to like it. *I agree with you. I think they should have stopped with DM starting the filmimg.
It is interesting that you wanted the romance to follow the typical path, but not the filming.
the ending was a little more idealistic than I was expecting to get from this actually, I don't hate it but it…
Hello Ivy. I hope you are well. I more, or less stopped posting on MDL (I just couldn't take the atmosphere anymore), but this is one of the few exceptions. I fully agree with you. This one of the few series that needed 16 episodes. Th ending was way too neat, and way too happy. Like you, I don't hate the ending, and I was smiling and happy. But, if I have to coldly evaluate the ending, I would say it was mediocre. It should have ended on a MUCH less happier note in my opinion. A promise of things will/ might get better would have satsfied me more. But, I am in tiny minority. That said, I don't evaluate series based on ending only, and this one as a whole, was fantastic. Hands down the best of 2026, and top 15(or even 10) for me.
Sorry I missed this, what are your thoughts on We are all trying here?
I have just finished the last episode. I need to reflect and ponder. I will also watch it again. But for a quick answer: My Mister is still easily the top, but WAATH was very good. I just wish it was 16 episodes. But, I am grateful for what we had. I would say it sits between My Liberation Notes and My Mister, but I haven't decided yet to which one it is closer in terms of overall evaluation. Either way, it is 9-10 series, and best of the year by lightning years.
Is this a contained series, or just S1? Considering this is only 8 episodes, and made by Netflix it looks very much like an American series format. Lets make something short, and see how it goes.
Didn't realize it until someone pointed it out to me but this is shares the name with the Japanese novel classic…
I actually read the book. I know you are not saying it, but I just want to make it clear that the series has absolutely nothing to do with the book. The book is WAAAAAY darker. It is a really good book though.
They played around 10 year older characters? Why? There isn't enough 40 something year old actresses?
Well, during the majority of the series they were either in their twenties or thirties. Only in last 2 episodes (and snippets from other episodes) they were in their 40s. So, taking the entierity of the show, actresses in their 30s (in the middle) looks as good decision.
One the very actresses that I watched almost all her dramas evnthough Mr Queen is the only one I REALLY loved. She is always excellent and great to watch regardless of the drama itself. No matter what she say lol, this drama was custom made for her. It gave her the opportunity to display very wide range of acting. Honestly, she carried the show.
But the show never said they looked similar, the fake Sarah simply made use of the mystery around Sarah Kim to…
I agree with you. After E6, I guessed there must be a looklike (although I must admit that I thought they were switching places on purpose until they got into a fight), and I was fully expecting Shin hye-sun to play that role as well. So, I was surprised when they introduced a new actress.
Isn she Mok Ga-hui from E03? Surely at that time she wasn't pretending as well. So, I really don't know why the…
Thanks. And PLEASE no second season. I won't watch it anyway. One of the major reasons I watched very few American shows in the last few years is the season system. I can't put up anymore with it. With few exceptions, they either drag the show until it becomes rubbish, or cancel it midway on a cliffhanger. Even best case scenarios, you wait 6 or 7 years to finish a show. NO NO NO. I don't want multiple seasons. One of Kdrama best features it is largely one season only.

Believe me, I totally understand you :)
