Enjoyed this more than I thought I would. The vampire and action scenes were great considering this is from 2015 (except the way Gwi ran in the first eps, that made me LOL ngl). As many older dramas, this is on the slower side, but it wasn't to the point that I got bored or wanted to skip ahead. There weren't any unnecessary side characters that were so annoying that I wanted to skip scenes either. The acting was great for the most part, I really enjoyed the scenes when Sung Yeol was going nuts and Gwi regretting his own actions. FL's character felt flat sometimes though (not necessarily the acress' fault). Especially the fact that she completely forgot about her family after falling in love when taking care of them was her one big thing in the beginning annoyed me. Ofc you can argue she "matured" and learned to prioritize the greater good, but she literally never even thinks about them once, which just makes her character seem one-dimensional. Also, the ending seemed somewhat lackluster. Overall, I'm happy with how it ended, just not about how they didn't actually explain anything. Also, the last scene could have been more emotional (it reminded me of 'The Great Doctor (2012)' ending scene, which happens to be filmed under the exact same tree and had the exact same problem :/)

Also loved that in intimate moments, they showed them switched back to their true identities, which made it feel less awkward. The humor was good for the most part, though sometimes it got a bit too silly for me. The only thing that threw me off was the pacing. The palace intrigues in the first half were kinda boring bcs the villains just seemed like props. It dragged a bit in the middle, especially after they switched back bcs it was kinda uneventful. So, I never expected the last 5 eps to be this thrilling and dramatic. I was glad there was finally sth happening (they even managed to make me cry), but it also seemed rushed compared to the pacing before. The story is somewhat predictable, which makes the business stuff and the villains' shenanigans feel draggy and repetitive. The romance feels kinda like a side aspect, while the time travel isn't well explained either, so that's why some commented the ending is confusing or watching this felt pointless in the end.
It's only worth the watch if you love either CFT or DGZ or them together imo. It's definitely way less catching than their other works (I didn't even feel the urge to binge-watch this which is actually a really bad sign) and they have way less screentime together, but I still loved every scene of them together. So, for me personally, it was worth it. I just enjoyed it as an easy watch to pass time between bigger dramas and enjoy their chemistry some more.

It's hard for me to rate a DGZ x CFT drama badly, bcs I just love every second they appear on screen together but this was really not that great. FZX did it again. He totally blew me away with his acting! He's just perfect for this kind of roles because his half-smirks is one of the creepiest things I've seen and he can turn it on like a lightswitch. I went from pitying and worrying about the ML to suspecting his actions but still trying to defend him, to ultimately hating his lying ass and being absolutely disgusted by his entire manipulative being. I've seldomly had goosebumps for such large parts of a drama. I literally shivered from all the suspense and fear at times! I loved the FL too. The way she finally grew a spine, but still stayed true to her empathetic self to the very end. Though some might wish she'd became more headstrong, it seemed very realistic in this way. The only downside is the ending - way too vague, too many loose ends and I didn't really get what that last scene was about. Tbh I had hoped ML would beg on his knees for the ending, but then I'll just imagine that's what went down for my inner peace.
Oh, same here, I actually really like the actors and love their chemistry! I can promise you, you'll definitely find some sweet scenes, and also some hot ones you'll enjoy 😄 And the rest is just too funny to miss out on🤣 So, happy watching!

Read "fever dream" and "liquid crack" in the comment section and knew right away I have to check this out. And indeed it is a fever dream, but also SO MUCH more! 😂 It's like playing an RPG but constantly and unknowingly stumbling into side quests, so often that you forget what the actual main quest was and who your character is even supposed to be. But who cares, right? 😂(No seriously, better bingewatch this series or you'll get even more confused if you forget where you left off.) Whenever you think, 'oh now the drama turned serious and it starts taking itself seriously', a totally unexpected hilarious scene appears with the fitting circus music - I mean that as the best compliment!😂👏🏻. I haven't seen such a well executed mix of serious, emotionally loaded scenes and hilarious ones in a long time. And while, the low budget is definitely more than visible various times (inconsistency in cut scenes, shaky camera, just plain illogical things like rain sound but no visible rain??), the fact that the show doesn't take itself too serious helps so much to not get annoyed but find even those flaws hilarious😆
Only complaint: The ending felt kinda rushed, especially bcs it got a bit draggy in the last third. Around ep 30 I started to get a bit frustrated as the FL got more and more on my nerves (got better again after some eps though). But to be fair not sure if I'd like it if they shortened it 🤔 they'd definitely have to keep all the kiss scenes, I wouldn't want to miss out on any of them!! Did I seriously see some tongue??🫣 Damn...I could literally watch them kiss forever!!😍🫠
Finally, these 8 weeks of "the Nightmare before, during and after Christmas" came to an end 🎉 I can't even count on how many days it was Christmas this season and in the last ep. Christmas and New Year were apparently even on the same day. That's all you need to know about the effort put into this show🤷♀️ Congrats to everyone who made it through 2 seasons of this wormhole of a timeline and rollercoaster of a cringe fest! 👏👏 Hope everyone's still save & sound, despite losing some braincells trying to figure out what all this was about.
My personal highlights in ep 10: - That cringey game of hide and seek: This is the first show that managed to make my goosebumps get goosebumps, left me feeling like a spiky massage ball. 10/10 would recommend.🙂 Haejun himself asking "aren't we really childish?" and later asking Jeahun whether he believes in Santa Claus was the cherry on top. Who comes up with these lines❓ Also Jaehun's response "no, we're adults.😀" Yeah, you're adults who chose to appear and drown in this absolute tide of garbage, but why do I still feel sorry for you 🫠 - The fake snow: Now we know why there was no budget left for a decent sound engineer (or for anything essential really). The heaps of fake snow used up all the money. That foam getting stuck in Haejun's eyelashes and on his nose is exactly like this whole drama, completely optional and unnecessary, but freaking hilarious. Later when the snow had formed a whole 2cm thick layer on Haejun's head, he kinda started resembling a fly agaric (that red mushroom with the white dot pattern on top). Just too ridiculous to make this shit up🍄 But at least, finally some sort of plant, since we were all missing those from S1 😂 - The tearful ending: Haejun never cried when he was locked up and abused, but now that he's engaged to Jaehun, he cries?? (But fair enough, I'd cry too, if I knew I was stuck with that dude for the rest of my life🤦♀️) And what in the world of overflowing eye drops was that fake crying of Jaehun? 😬 - The Christmas gifts: Peak comedy. Jaehun's overly emotional reaction to a obviously not self-knitted scarf and Haejun's delayed reaction to the plane tickets, which made me secretly hope, Haejun would say: "No, I'm happy about the tickets. But who said I want to fly to Florence with YOU?🤨" ( A girl can still dream, that the writers would finally reveal they had been trolling us all along, right? 🥲)
