You're seeing it from a modern perspective. During that time, it's very reckless and bold of her to be along and intimate with a man unchaperoned. In the beginning, her stepsister tried to frame her to be alone with a man so she can become that man's concubine. She scolded her cousin for writing secret letter to a man. Do you see how hypocritical her behaviour was with LJX? Even if she hasn't been intimate with him, just being in the same room will get her married off with him if discovered.

Haha very smart. It was weird though, I watched LYF season 1 and liked it enough but then when season 2 came out after that 1 year wait time, I didn't even feel like watching it and still haven't seen it yet. Maybe when I run out of dramas to watch, then I might pick it up again.

I think I would rather they skip some storyline and give a conclusion than to wait another 2-3 years for season 2. No thanks. It was torture waiting for season 2 like JOL.

Because she let him. She was reckless and flirting with him with no restrain or proprieties so he feels he can say and do anything to her. Not the behaviour of a well-raised lady from a noble family, hence she was so ashamed, she kept it from everyone even though he was dangerous to her family.

I just finished episode 25. Yes, in this episode maybe half of the screen time is devoted to their storyline but if you're referring to couple time, there were no scenes where the 2nd couples interacting together. But there were 10 mins where the main couples were interacting together. It's ok if you don't like the 2nd couple but not fair to say they have more screen time than the main leads is misleading.

They were on such intimate terms and talking about their freaking wedding night!! Now I can see why LJX was a bit obsessed because he thinks about her as his wife already. LYN was a bit too reckless there. I bet she won't disclose that to LSY in that muted conversation or else he would've reacted way worse than that.

Just watched episode 25 and I can see why LYN didn't want to confide to LSY about her past with LJX. I'll put in spoiler below.

The leads have the majority of the screen time and they are not even a couple yet. They are siblings still and people were getting uncomfortable with amount of time them being so close. This drama is not all about romance and that hasn't even started yet. The 2nd couple only have that one story line going for them. Of course they are going to be together most of the time.

Yeah people are ridiculous. So out of 40 episodes, they might have a bit more screen time in 1 or 2 episodes and they are accusing them of buying screen time. So toxic.

Really? the ML/FL have 80 % of the screen time. Maybe not together since they are not yet a couple but how can you say the 2nd couple have more screen time than the main leads? not even sure we are watching the same drama.

Not too sure how they will be related but during that time, cousins with different surnames are allowed to be married though.

C-dramas usually have a 2nd couple. it's not unusual and I don't think they have that much screen time. Maybe it seems like it for those who don't like them.

I get where you're coming from. Back then, my parents grew up in villages in China. So each village has a different surname, so all the males in that village will have the same surname. My mom moved to my dad's village when they got married so basically only the females will move. So even though most people in the village are not directly blood related, it's still forbidden to marry within the same village because it's considered one big family because you have the same Surname. Hence, for Chinese people surname is very important. That's why before, it was more acceptable to marry if you have different last name but related in some way than if you're not related but have the same last name. My cousin had such a hard time with her parents because she wanted to marry someone who has the same surname, even though they were not related at all but from the same village (they were not even in China at that time but in North America).

I like dramas with cute kids! Will definitely give this a try.

My theory : 1st madam killed LYN's mom because she thought LYN was her husband's daughter. The 1st master will mostly likely deny that, saying he never slept with her and then the truth of her birth will be investigated.
