As much as I get Shu Han liking towards Xing Wu ,I don't understand why she is making it sound like that going…
Though I agree with you, I also think Shu Han's reaction makes more sense when you consider why Xing Wu said he wanted to go back to school. He didn't really frame it as wanting an education or wanting a better future for himself, he framed it as going to school with Qing Ye so he could protect her.

From Shu Han's perspective, that probably sounded like he was willing to give up a job opportunity for Qing Ye's sake rather than making a decision for his own future. Considering how much she cares about him, I can understand why she'd react negatively to that.

Everything is perfect except the ML's makeup. He's supposed to be a warrior, so why does he look like he's fresh out of a beauty ad? The makeup is so obvious in some scenes.

I dont think you people get that in China they call people cousin or brother/sister just because of a bond. their…
I get that in some cultures people use "cousin" or "sibling" for close family friends. But the show doesn't exactly treat it as just a casual term. The ML's mother literally at the start had two grown adults of opposite gender living in the same room . That's not something you'd normally do unless you genuinely saw them as cousins, blood-related or not.

So I don't really buy the idea that "cousin" here is just a label. The writers clearly set them up with a cousin-like family dynamic from the start. Which is why I keep saying they could've just been introduced as family friends instead. The plot would be exactly the same, and nothing of value would've been lost.

Maybe it's too early to judge, but I'm still trying to figure out what the cousin setup actually adds to the story.
So far, ML doesn't seem to view FL as his cousin at all. Honestly, half the time it feels like if she wasn't rich or he wasn't poor, he would've made a move ages ago.

And today's episode made me question it even more. FL's friend literally brought up that they're not blood-related and wondered why ML is so nice to her. That kind of implies even the people around them don't really see them as cousins either.

Up to this point, you could've made FL a family friend's daughter living in the same house and absolutely nothing in the plot would've changed.

why don’t they just say the leaked contract was AI-generated or fabricated 😭 every scandal magically becomes “fake screenshots” these days anyway.

I was reading this novel and halfway through I genuinely had to stop and ask who looked at this and said “yeah, let’s turn this into a drama”?

The ML isn’t “complex” or “misunderstood,” he’s just trash with a script. He assaults her, slaps her, cheats on her, ignores her when she needs him the most, and even misunderstands her when she has a miscarriage. And somehow we’re supposed to buy into his “love”? Please. He even nearly kills his own daughter and the story has the audacity to excuse it with “she reminds him of her mother.” That’s not tragic, that’s unhinged and the writing bending over backwards to justify it is even worse.

Honestly, I’m less interested in the drama and more baffled that anyone read this story and thought, “yes, this deserves to be romanticized on screen.”

Can’t defend Chen Hui, but his dad also really makes it hard to sympathize. Growing up with a father who clearly puts work first and a mother who, despite loving Songge, still treats her like a burden yeah, that’s going to mess someone up. No wonder he spiraled when he felt like he couldn’t rely on them for her care or treatment. And the most frustrating part? Through all that chaos, his dad never once stops to ask himself why his own son would go that far.

Okay but putting aside whether Chen Hui is right or wrong for a second… his dad is really not it.

Like, most people would question literally everything before pointing fingers at their own family. And even if deep down they suspect it, it still takes a lot to actually believe your own kid could do something wrong.

But this man?? No hesitation at all. He’s out here trusting the world more than his own family. Torments his wife, locks up his kid, and somehow still thinks he’s the righteous one? Be serious.

Honestly, what kind of father does that.

from the trailer ML seems pretty calculative and strong but I just hope they don't turn him lovesick simp mid show and drastically change his personality from a grey character to a green flag

And this after she was previously warned about the consequences when she fed the king late night ramen.I really…
Yeah no, I’ve already accepted they’re not making her smarter 💀 this is 100% heading into “ML fighting for his life in palace politics while also playing full-time bodyguard” territory. Meanwhile she’s gonna unlock her special ability: ✨being the only person who can cure his insomnia after knowing him for 2 business days✨. Please… I’m begging… don’t turn her into a Y/N.

She really said “I’ll outsmart everyone and marry into royalty” and then immediately forgot how to think 💀

Like girl had a whole master plan to get the title, but zero survival instincts once she got there. Palace full of conspiracies and she’s out here taking the young king on a casual drive like it’s a weekend picnic??

Smart enough to scheme her way in, dumb enough to get herself kicked out soon

“Veil of Shadows”? this is Veil of Plot Armor.
the lore wasn't loring for me. Stuff happens, people survive, and we’re all supposed to nod like it makes sense.

29 episodes?? be serious 😭 this drama needed more episodes to breathe. not just because i’m enjoying it (which, yes, I am), but because why does every major plot point feel like it’s being speedrun??

they keep dumping information like we’re supposed to just keep up and feel things instantly. where is the buildup?? imagine how much harder everything would hit if they actually let the story unfold instead of cramming it all in.

Tbh as much as I hate Yan Ke, he's the only one keeping the somewhat angst going because why does Duan Xu feel like he got downgraded mid-story? This is the same guy who used to be cunning, vicious, and playing 4D chess with Si Mu… and now he’s just… a lovesick puppy? Be serious. Where did all that edge go?

The tension between them didn’t just fade, it straight up vanished the moment they exchanged senses. Like, that electric, push-and-pull dynamic? Gone. Replaced with soft longing and zero bite. I didn’t sign up for Duan Xu to be domesticated. I wanted chaos, mind games, and a little emotional damage, thanks.

I know this has already been said a hundred times on this page, so sure, add this to the pile but casting an underage girl opposite a full-grown adult is still wildly inappropriate. And let’s be real, it didn’t just raise moral red flags it clearly watered down the storyline. You can feel how much they will tiptoe around the romance to make it “acceptable,” which will just ends up making everything awkward and half-baked.

What’s actually ridiculous is that this is an industry where 30-year-olds are out here playing high school students every other day… and yet somehow they couldn’t find a single of-age actress for this role? That’s not a limitation, that’s a choice and a pretty questionable one at that.

We’re not even asking for screentime 🙄 you can give that to whoever. What we want is just character depth,…
I would suggest you to go down a little bit in comments, I'm sure you'll see the term "screentime" mentions after every few comments. The debate about her character depth might be also there but that doesn't deny the fact that there are quite a lot of people demanding screentime increase which is absolutely not needed.

Demanding more screen time for your fav only makes sense if the story is being wasted on filler but it’s not. Screen time here is clearly tied to narrative function: plot progression, pacing, and character arcs. Shifting it just for bias would weaken the narrative, not improve it.

So what matters more: good storytelling or just seeing your favorite on screen?

Okay but I was lowkey waiting for LWY to somehow witness WSG and WWY’s little domestic family setup 😭 Like imagine her reaction seeing her sister in such a soft, almost mundane family environment?? And not just with anyone, but with WSG of all people??

Can all these time travel or transmigration cdrama stop ending the same way? And even if they do end, can they atleast bother to explain how in every single one of such shows the ml is able to come to her current time. Always the same ending damn ending.

Wait I don’t understand? Are we not supposed to see some growth from her? She’s been knew her place, she just…
So you throw a character onto a battlefield and call it development? That’s not growth. And I’m not even just talking about her, I’m talking about everyone around her. They’re basically hyping her up to join a war like that’s normal, ignoring how actual soldiers are recruited and trained. She’s got fighting skills, sure, but zero real training, and somehow she’s on the front lines? That’s what doesn’t sit right with me.
