I’m currently on episode 15 and I wanted a spoiler for the Yan family so far for the episodes that aired so…
The Xues try to attack the Yans at the Coming of Age ceremony but this time round the Yans survive. They are arrested and are later "exiled". This is all part of XW's scheme to keep them safe and bring them back to the capital later. He also thinks the experience will be good for YL. On the night of their transport out of the capital, JXN goes to say goodbye to YL in jail and they have a very emotional heart-to-heart. She then gets caught up in another of XW's plots - a jail break to plant ZZ amongst the rebels.
Re other dramas - there's the recently aired Scent of Time which will definitely give you similar vibes esp as WXY is also in it. If you haven't seen Lost You Forever, that's also highly highly recommended.
If you become a fan of ZLH after watching this, he's been in a slew of dramas this year. I still like his debut in Maiden Holmes, a kind of wuxia detective romcom - highly watchable when you just want to chill. Lately, we've also seen him in My Journey to You (wuxia) and Tiger and Crane (wuxia). But seriously, of all his dramas to date, SOKP is I think the one that will make people sit up and watch him with interest.
But why does Duke Xue hate his own son so much? Is he not the real father?
We can speculate that he didn't like his first wife and by extension her son. We know he already had a mistress outside when she was still alive since Xue Shu was born "prematurely" and that he prefers the kids he had with her. But really it all just boils down him being a Douchebag Dad.
After tricking her into going to his house to read an old letter, XW becomes inarticulate and unable to capitalise on the situation? Poor Mcschemy XW will have to find a new playbook to deal with JXN.
Much needed and excellent comic relief from XDF and LX. So gratifying to see XDF turning Douchebag Dad's mansion upside down. While LX has obviously got more EQ than his boss in matters of the heart.
Here at episode 15 and hoping the writer wont kill Marquis Yan. Somehow, I'm feeling sentimental watching Marquis…
BL definitely does the spunky girl role quite a bit (which I enjoy) and she also seems to revel in those roles. But she does have range when required - see One and Only and Forever and Ever for eg.
How is this drama honest opinion? Im waiting for it to finish so I can binge and it was one of the most anticipated…
It’s great. Hasn’t imploded so far. ZLH is compelling as the dark, slightly demented ML with killer glares and an awesome jawline, while Bai Lu has so far escaped her usual fate of being dumbed down halfway thru a period drama. And there will be a happy ending.
why the sudden change in her behavior? Because of his mom's passing in the past life?
Yes, I think the major stumbling block is that she cannot get past the guilt stemming from the previous life's mistakes. This will probably be even more of an issue I suppose when she discovers he also remembers the past life. There's a reference to a broken vase (and it's there in the preview) which will be a metaphor for their relationship - something which will always have cracks despite the best attempts to repair and cover them up.
Y’all Im half way ep 23 and All I can see is JXN is sooo “active” towards ZZ 😩 Ngl I liked ZZ on earlier…
There's an interview with ZLH and BL where they talk about the 3 suitors: YL is the childhood sweetheart ZZ is like a muse, an ideal character - or in other words, put on a pedestal, not really practical for real life and then there's XW who helps her at all her critical junctures and is her ultimate protector/saviour. He's a keeper.
