:D nice way of relaxing too, I imagine :) hahaha well they are fantasy pieces. they won't necessarily be logical but lee gak was a bit slow on the uptake, not to realise who was who, it was somewhat annoying.

I learned Japanese in the past, even passed the JLPT exam but after that had to drop it and no i don;t remeber a thing :( with kanji and japanese you have to be absolutely systematic, or start all over. I understand some japanese, though so when watching japanese dramas it all comes back to me, some of the things I learn, but I;d have to go to the basics first, but now it would prbably be much faster since I already know some of it. Whew. Sometimes I think these profile commenets should extend to 3,000 words ahaha.

collective and plural nouns. Doing translations I always have problem with them and subject/verb agreement and my colleagues in translation do tell me they often aren't sure, since it's such a nuanced problem.During my own studies I did a wide variety of areas, since we were prepared to tewach English in schools as a secondary language, so how we store language, how we acquire language (methodology of ESL teaching), how we describe language, how language is a tool for describing reality around us, plus literature, psycholohy, phislosophy. I didn;t understand the purpise of all thise areas then, but now I see they were a really comprehensive look at how we engage with language and how language functions And if you are interested: http://ifa.amu.edu.pl/~swlodek/polgdict.htm here is a site which lists some mistakes we Poles tend to do in English, all stemming from the habits of our language.

Rita, language yourself away here :-) I welcome linguistic discussions, myself being a great fan of words and..I am an English major myself. I am currently writing doctoral dissertation in literature, on Joseph Conrad. English has a great variety of interesting obscure words formed from foreign prefixes and suffixes. There is a site called phrotinstery.info which I love to visit for some inspiration. I never studied my own language but it is probably the one language that has retained the most from Latin in terms of grammar and word formation rules. We decline, we conjugate- there are so many endings in this language, it is dfifficult for foreigners to learn, but at the same time it's logical, you learn the rules and you will know more or less. There are exceptions...but English tends to be far less logical than Polish. English has ambiguities which can be the end of me, for instance

:) Ganbatte, ne! :)Handling kanji is probably the most challenging, the rest is easier, expcet perhaps for the honorific forms. I think I want to pick up korean now and stop waiting for the subs. heh. Hmm, you did? :D I am in England and am doing my work here, and I do feel a degree of identification with this place. Somehow I feel like a fish in the water in the UK ad UK university. It's a feeling I never have in Poland. Somehow, this moment now is the best moment of my life, because I also work with trustworthy people. It's difficult to get that sometimes. And I cannot believe my good fortune.

hahaha. I meant otaku not taku :P and LBS is Lee Bum Soo. Well if you want romantic, you could try nagareboshi or love shuffle. If you like something more emotional but less to do with love you could try Ninkyo Helper/ Don Quixote- both yakuza family dramas, one serious, the other comedic. if you like cute cute, htaru no hikari is quite a textbook definition of adorable. And japanese JIN. if yiou like time travel connected with some philsiophical. emotional concernes you coud try Long Love Letter a try. If you like suspense/mystery/- I'd suggest Liar game or quiz show, both pretty good. You can cast a glance on them see if they may be of interest but you know in large part it all depends on your mood, if you;re in the mood you will likely find something, the problem is to find the right time for the right mood for that japanese drama.

yes, posh or not posh, I am in love with British English, it;s been my dream since childhood to speak like that, haha, though it's not possible- unless of course heavens will send me a husband who will be stimulating me using British English ;-) it's a major turn on for me. No, I totally agree and German is the language of Storm and Stress. Japanese would also be on my list. Polish is very beautiful and a proposal in polish could be quite beutifully quaint, I do love its rich expressive potential. And you really notice how different they are when you translate. So you speak these languages?

waxed euphoric about silly things, for some it;s a phase. I a very taken with this drama, because it is a very touching story and a journey with progress and I was trully pleasantly surprised with Gong Hyo Jin. TI haven;t seen such a story in korean dramas, either, tackling this problem of being different. I hope you will be able to appreciate it as well; I am very thankful to Ninia for that suggestions becase this is the drama that brings me down from k2h heights and allows to reconnect with a different drama in the genre but I also want to change moods next, hence hopefully a proper thriller. And so, the drama cyccle continues .. :-)

nothing to apologise for. Dramas I hate make me sound like a rebellious teenager! :D and then i have the great moment of remorse but it's good to have an opinion very strong about something and i can perfectly understand that, so far be it from me to criticise your strong feelings, in fact i welcome them, i perhaps sounded a little defensive but it wasn;t my intention :)I liked boku no star, a perfectly pleasant fluff too, the scenario is in the veing of notting hill..but frankly i;d rather watch this than julia roberts, i have an intense dislike f her, though hugh grant has a perfectly English charm :D and the accent..! i have a soft spot for British accents. Oi, I'm babbling! :D yes, as i say i am very disappointed that there is no proper weighting between fangirl/boyism and proper critical reception. but then again we have to consider the age demographic. When i was 13 I also waxed

At the moment I am watching thank you, for which I have Nina to thank for. It;s a very nice drama. if you can stand Go Hyo Jin, she actually does a pretty nice job here. It is about a single mother with a child which contracted hiv by accident in a hospital and it is also a drama about living differently, about coming to terms with it, about learning to accept and about the need to learn about thise differences, it sends a nice message, though there things to nitpick on, too. After that I think I am going to change genres and go for something that could be called a prime exmaple of a thriller. I tried Equator man but it didnt seem very good but I need to start with something which is more commonly thoiught of as a best exmaple, because i need to have some sort of benchmark or touchstone against which to measure other thrillers-suspense dramas.

I ended up watching rooftop prince first because I couldn;t find anything to connect to after k2h...and and I liked the ending, in fact connected with it better than with inhyun, despite the fact that is not a good drama by any stretch of the imagination. It has many flaws and is hackeyed as hell and I am no fan of Micky, but at least I like his voice. Everything about it was cliched. But somewhi it didnt bother me, and i honestly gfound it more watchable than queen inhyun.
but reall,y Rita, this is just a piece of harmless fanservice, rooftop prince is. And hotaru is a character! But what i like hotaru for is that it's a summer drama, evoking quite warm feelings especially what with the character's innocence.

haha. Good luck with Gumiho, you are brave, Rita! but what doesn't one do in the face of a crush hehe. looking forward to your review. Gumiho is a piece of fluff and a fairy tale at that since it;s about the gumiho. It's harmless and I find it more entertaining than some other romcoms. I was relieved to watch it after wild romance now, wild romance is a piece of drama you absolutely must steer clear of, it's possibly one of the worst in history, rooftop prince and gumiho compared to it are good! It's horrendous and a torture to watch. But Romcoms really are hit or miss, their aim is to please following the same scenario, that is as far expectations for thies things should go, imho. InhuynMan is just bland for me, and the humour is also hit-or-miss.

Title Thank You
This drama is beautiful. It;s as if the writer was trying t destroy every single korean drama cliche. Iy's a meaningful and very well done drama. It's almost a sin to overlook it. Just..see for yourself, especially if you prefer someting substantial over fluff. Excellent excellent drama! NinaJade, I am indebted to you!

I am intrigued. A suspense-revenge drama that is fast paced and gets right into it may picque my interest. I want to see whether it will be to my taste, try something that stays mostly within its genre and it would be adifferent genre for me
But I feel it may be something that sets the standard for my more thriller-suspense based dramas. I need something that is a prime example of its genre first itwill give me grounds for exploring and comparing. I'll watch it when I am done with Thank you, which I am absolutely loving - for it is a beautiful drama and moreover it allows me to come back to normal drama world from my K2H madness, it is also a drama with feeling and real and I appreciate, for the first time, Go Hyo Jin, she really does a nce job here.. After this I will go for the devil.

Good morning Bokami :) I have a question for you. Between The Devil and Equator Man, which one would you say is better? I am intrigued by the tarot thing in the devil but because i disliked the equator man, I thought I would ask you this question. have a lovely day!

But strangely Taiwanese dramas are not to my taste, most of the time, there are a few I liked...but somehow...for me it also has to do with language melody, I am afraid. I am very used to korean and japanese, but not mandarin When I tried Thai Lakorn I shuddered...they are really poor and more like South american telenovelas, while the japanese and koreans have found a far more interesting formula.
