:P oh so it;s Yamada-san;s last weekend in MDL world. I'm sure he might have liked it here, though :).
I like playig with profile a lot too; ultimately i can;t seem to decide what to do with it.
Of late I am loving sea green coupled wither with deepl blue or magenta. I don't know why really but I"m desperately looking for something cool sea-green to wear, preferably some accessory. I love fishing for those in the malls.
Legal high 2 ep 9 is out finally thogh and t was pretty good. Episode 10 looks interesting from the preview. Suddenly I"m looking forward to it.
I'll hope you;ll soon get some time off to relax.

Hi Yamada-san. How's it going with your journey? I am deeply absorbed by Ryomaden. Such an interesting historical figure, Sakamoto Ryoma. Masaharu Fujiyama additionally sung a song that was used by Tonbi as its theme. This guy seems to be popular in all media in Japan. good voice, pretty strong screen presence, radio personality too.
I see you changes your profile presentation, looks neat and so blue. Is blue your favourite color?
There are performers and Performers. The man's acting seems practically effortless. His best character to date was probably Kang Mae in Beethoven Virus but I also loved Anthony Kim.

Yeah, she is shown as very supportive and has a strong mind of her own. True liberated woman! Is she shown in the drama in the later parts? I really like her. See the cast in this drama is absolutely excellent. In Gou I was really annoyed by Ueno Juri;s mannerisms. they worked for nodame cantabile but not for Gou. However, kishitani Goro as Hideyoshi I liked her, he made him both scary and sympathethic if I remeber correctly, but I was too annoyed with Gou herself. But I think even Ryoma did not avoid accusations of romanticisation.
Jin is a lovely contemplation on how human actions fit into the larger flow of history, how they can affect it. The acting is superb and time travel, when you see both seasons, actually gives some food for thought. Really clever with touching music and great cast. It has fast become one of my number 1 favourite dramas because of the strong feelings it brings out and because of the depth of thought it features. It's an unforgettable japanese drama and one I consider to be a definite "keeper".

Thats why I find him so inspiring too, on a personal level. He may not have the skill for academic knowledge, but carves wisdom through experience of the world. He was also lucky to have a good and caring family. He uses both his brains and his heart to understand things and he;s so straightforward. I like people who don;t have the conceit to be convoluted, snobbish or hypocritical. I believe He's somewhat a man after my own heart, if I may say so, especially in this adaptation :D I tend to think change does not begin with writing scholarly debates about it, change begins with experiencing the world hands-on and satisfying the curiosity that makes changes within an individual first.

To change the future, one has to change ones approach to it...but it's really difficult for a society who has been bound by traditional laws for so long and moreover afraid of losing ones identity were they to embrace it. Although the dutch presence must have also influenced them a little, so Ryoma saying that Japan already opened is actually spot on. I can appreciate Ryoma's developing progressive worldview. But I swear, there are moments when this Ryoma reminds me of Masaaki's Ryoma. Sometimes I even think that resemblance between Fukuyama-san and Masaki-san for this role is quite uncanny.

Nah, I don;t really like remakes and then this American series is likely to drag on for 8+seasons -.- I don;t like it. The reason I prefer japanese and korean series is precisely because they opnly have 1 season - tell a complete story..waiting for an american series to complete is boring for me. But I hope fans will not be disappointed. Are you going to?

Ohhh, thank you for the PM :) I will be able to finish the drama yay. I'd be insanely frustrating to get stuck at ep 45..
Well right now the travelogues are translated again and they kind of give me goosebumps. They say things like Ryoma and Katsu's passion for the sea is continued today. Episode 16 talked about how Ryoma met with him and understood that you donlt have to go to war to protect Japan; it's better to build a civizliation equalling the others to protect it since Japan has already opened and may be able to use and borrow technology and discoveries from other countries. I like to see how this way of thinkin developed. It's like Kao told him: "Why are men always so emtoional. Everyone says they want to protect Japan but not no one is able to change their own way of life".

and also how does Yataro, who tells the story know everything that happened to Ryoma even when he didn't witness personally all events? That's what I mean by doubting Yataro as the narrator of the tale; it looks to me that he's pretty objective on the whole since there is time distance to events he's telling but...sorry, I hope you;re not bothered by all of these questions. I've had a lot of fun talking to you since we chated up but I hope I'm not being too overbearing, flooding you with messages like that.

Worse thing is I disocvered the last three episodes are not subbed anywhere...I found episode 46, and 47 floating on dailymotion raw and 48 in two parts also raw. I see how I feel when I get there but just in case I think I may need some help understanding some parts so I may ask you, if that's okay.
Oh yes, that part when the Tosa were shown the map by that teacher I really got a sense they had no idea because that's how Japan-centred they have been and theknowledge of the world was hidden from them, though the higher officials had to be aware of world politics. It feels like the ordinary people lived sheltered, in their own world, and the fact they are really so small terrified them and surprised them so much. What is surprising to me is why the speak Dutch when they translate from English to Japan...?
