dril facts, dates causes which hold little meaning when dealt with in such a manner. Textbooks give us facts devoid of personality. It's literature and tv series like this that bring history to life, which is so much more engaging and interesting that learning only dates and facts.

...the version I am watching has just stopped subbing the travelogue part /cries/ Well there are a few teens tht are pretty good. Yo Seung Hoo was pretty good from the very moment he began acting- he is now quite established. Park Ji bin seems pretty good to me as well.
Yes, I think I agree..Masaaki can be a little overbearing I guess, though the term "larger than life" is much nicer :P haha Really? I will watch it soon, but probably not immediately after Ryomaden.
The drama does well to display the tesions connected with the pressures to open up to the world. It does make me wonder how Ryoma will come to play a role in events that will unfold from here. He seems curious about the world and so far displayed a very constructive approach, also in dealing with a fear of the foreign.
I've never liked history in schoool because I was not really encouraged to explore. All we did was

rather the contemplation of the meaning and consequences of human actions with the larger flow of time and history.- that was important in JIN. But for me Masaaki;s portrayal was strong enough to get more interested in Ryoma and here I am watching Ryoma den and it's wonderful so far.

I like lee hyun woo, i think he;s doing well. I like him playing younger UTW, but yeah, all some people want is the young veriosn -.-. However I think lee hyun woo has a future as an actor.
Yes, Uchino Massaaki played Ryoma so he was really a strong presence. I love Masaaki's characters though I do agree that Masaharu is presenting all the small changes and insecurities and doubts of Ryoma but in Jin we are not concerned with Sakamorto so much, rather on the main protagonist's relationship with him. We can;t expect time travel dramas to divulge into it...but now that I see Ryoma den, i think Masaaki portrayed the kind of Ryoma: there is kindnes sbut some rudeness, and a little more, a determination and ability to listen but somehumoiur too in Masaaki's time travel Ryoma. "Larger than life" seem a very apt description though. It is what you can expect. Still the focus on jIN is

I dropped Ando Lloyd. I find it boring and simplistic in terms of story. Plus it feels fake. In turn, I am getting addicted to Ryomaden, it's really interesting.
I found that this guy lives and embodies Sakmoto Ryoma in Ryomaden. I really enjoyed Ryomaden. I like his voice and I just love his song that was used as Tonbi theme and his niterpretation of Ryoma...he made me really interested in the character and I got to bond with Ryoma lot. And we share birthday too. I"m lucky :D

but Ryoma is so likeable at the beginning too! and the actor is great too. I love multi-talaented people and Masaharu is one. He sung the theme for Tonbi too! <3 I think Ryome Den is another underappreciated drama :( And too bad, the story and the character seem like a keeper! I love it, he's so suave, this guy. I felt though that Uchino Masaaki would have a little stronger presence as this character. When you see Jin I think you will get what I mean, though I totally love Masaharu. And Ryoma at the start..so innocent. Doesn;t even know how to out on a samurai armor.

Yes and it;s thanks to Jin that I got interested in Sakamoto. He seems like a man I would like from what I've seen so far and the drama has pulled me in from the start. Maybe because I"m so interested in Sakamoto. I think taiga dramas are much better on historicity than saeguks so I will trust it to tell an accurate story, well as accurate as possible, considering that the narrator is actually the other guy, so I am led to question reliability a little.
Ohhh Reise...young guys ir girls in korean dramas are often not actors but only idols who can;t act and who are only included for young teens to catch the bug, I tend to think...or to get them to self-promote or something like this.

Good afternoon Edina. I'm actually going to go for a taiga drama called Ryoma Den. I just started it. Yeah, it is rather cold but Christmas holidya will soon start so it won;t matter. A little bit but less than I used to. I should be more free in the coming days. How are you?

I will do so, though for the moment I"m going for a taiga drama...but I may start 1994 next week.
MHID was poorly written but with discernible ideas. bur I was sorry for Lee Dong Gun that he got ditched in favour of Yong Hwa by the writer.

Yup, I know- I did see episodes of galileo and thought he was really great there. And he does sing; in fact he is a songwrinter-singer. i love multi-talented people.
The only other taiga I watched before was Gou...it had Uemo Juri as Gou bit I didn;t like her in that role, she was miscast and spoiled the story for me but I liked Gou because it showed me that taiga dramas are actually informative. That and Kishitani Goro was great as Hideyoshi.
There is much I don;t know about the history of Japan, but Sakamoto sounds like the kind of person I may be very interested in. The drama starts interestingly and is well-framed, that in itself is enough for me to keep my interest and I am motivated by a need to see a narrative focused on Sakamoto. Then I will proceed to read.

will do. I really like the lead actor, and he sings! I think he sang the opening theme to my beloved Tonbi. I just hope to learn some things about Ryoma...plus you know I think Hanzawa's opponent is there too, that bulky looking chairman Ohwada. I hope his role is considerable. I'm hyped up for this taiga mostly because Sakoamoto does seem like a very interesting figure.

HAHAHA I see. I watched parts of it...don;t remeber a thing, but had a peek at ending...they have chsanged it around too much and deprived it of meaning. Never mind. Right now I feel hyped up for Ryome Den (thanks to Jin) and a ton of other dramas.

The thing is the creator, the writer was fine with it all along, she was supporting the fans, it's just the game house who published it caused problems. No you are right, there is a drama and several specials and a movie version.
Your list seem to be growing a lot these days hehehe
Have you watched last cinderella? I'm not big on older woman-younger man romances for some reason (I am fine with older man, younger woman though, maybe because it's a situation I"m most used to because it seems more common) but I think I may give this one a go because of haruma.
I'm interested in seeing where this young man will go, I was really surprised, usually actors below 30 don't really impress me but haruma in tasets did well..I'm less enthusiastic about watchink fujiki naohito, he tends to be a little boring; I only liked him in hotaru but he tends to be the same no matter what his role is.

Hi friend! :D Maryr him is a case of good intentions marred by poor execution....it was annoying, especially the time travel was poorly done. I only liked Lee Dong Gun and Mi ar'e s brother. Kazxoku is on my plan to watch lists, I should start it sometime...Densha is superbly endearing,. i just love the actor and the character. hes very relatable. There aren;t many relatable characters. It's a lovely romance. I'm a bit tired otherwise...

I hated it. It was awful. Good intentions marred by very poor execution; they should havenever gone into time travel in the first place- she completely wrecked it! The only characters I liked was Lee dong Gun and Mi rae's brother. Yong Hwa annoys the hell out of me. Yes, I do want to watch reply 1994. I hear this one is causing shipping wars...is the shipping issue a cause of your discontent as well?
