as a person who seeks authenticity and meaningful relationship. It's really a very nice love story. Speaking of love stories with some reflective elements, did you watch taoisetsu na Koto with Haruma and Takei Emi?

Pretty much. There have been remakes and now this sequel, which was hard won because the original company issued a cease and desist so the fan base had to fight just to get the game released. LOL a meteor. of course it would happen heh. So what happens then? yoiu haver to start over? or was the sim already married so you had more sims in your household? yes her voice in korean is actually very pleasant, I found her dubbed voice a bit too chilidish bit I guess it suited the character. it's an upbeat series. It still remains my comfort watch when I"m in a really low mood. Maybbe actually not so with Alec- but I think he sings the opening song so you can hear him and also Alec Su I think wasn;t dubbed in original huan zhu ge ge, so I guess you may be able to compare. Hahah, we are spreading the Densha bug :P Densha is a very endearing series with an uncommon character. and relatable.

I guress I have to, it;s also a mtter of drama watcher's honour lol. It is a matter of mood as well I think. I'm sure you will find some you really like, maybe especially among the older ones, they tend to be less flashy and gimmicky.

Indeed. it just that I'm getting more fearful every time I reach for a k-drama, becaise k-dramas are way too ratings-driven, aren't pre-produced...they would destroy the story if it meant saving the ratings. i have little respect for that. K-dramas aren;t bad, but sometimes I think like a decent k-drama only comes ever so often. Japanese seem to offer the right kind of amount of soufulness that is largely missing in k-dramas.

LOL. I am really not sure. I don't feel the motivation to go on with Marry Him. Maybe I will finish it in a year XD maybe not. I still have Ando Lloyd to keep up with. I feel like after watching all these beautiful dramas I don;t know what I want to do anymore. I was so floored with greatness that I feel washed out once more. I think you mentioned this somewhere on the feeds as well. It's this feeling when something really great ends and you don;t know if you can find anything just as good..

Oe question though. I collated the nominations from both forums and news article comments, but as far as I remember you first posted the message about nominating on the feeds and I also remember that some users, like Sunflower, only commented there with their candidates.

I can't find that first post anymore now; it got lost in all the other feeds and I added a few new friends since then too. So, did you collate those comments from the original post anywhere by any chance?

I found this site interesting for some comparison: http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20170 if you're interested, maybe some hotos will prove more encouraging, but I can;t help but think that some of them inly remained natural looking because they were born at a time when plastic surgery was not quite as efficient.

But then this vide here is indeed onformative (courtesy of Yeona): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCKShGLyeK0

ohhh thanks for that :D Actually I didnlt even look there heh.. I agree. Korean have problems presenting the substance as they focus on the packaging. I think I would be scared to go and live there given their overinsistence on perfect looks. I watched a video recently, parents pay children for surgeries in mid teen years- the kids get surgeries for birthdays! :/

Well after the hacking the BB codes for the blog cod switched off. I hope they will strive to make the site more secure. haha yup I saved my entire blog in order to be able to recreate it. I'm wracking my brains how to move it entirely to the blog without cluttering pages. I;ll look forward to how you react to the story as it goes on. I'm so excited that you're watching it lol :D

I do my best to remember the names if I know them, i think it can be nice to use them instead of user names, at least from time to time.

Yeah, Hermes is a good woman. I do like her a lot. This is anither reason for liking japenese dramas. I could never see such a story be made in Korea because it would lose all of its soul. The actor really made Densha beliveable and all those feelings. Oh you just cry and laugh with him and you get excited with him and you get apologietic with him. I'm really glad i watched this. Thank you for spreading the drama further :) Oh okay, I needd to locate Guitar man then, thank you Mit.

Absolutely :D there were many moments when I just went cried with Densha-san. trying so hard poor thing. I'm happy that in the end all turned out well. What I loved also is how he inspired others not to give up, no matter hiow harsh they were to him (re that basketball player for instance). I had them up on MAL but because there was ahacker attack I deleted them. Since I am rebuilding my MAL log, I may put them there again but in one entry ths time. I had like 20 entries just for monster notes. lol, aww, Winnie, now that's just sweet. I just felrt while watching it that I had to put down my impressions and interpretatio ns as I went because it had such an impact. I;ll look forward to reading your thoughts :)

Yes, I understand, Mit :) It is uplifting to see such stories can happen isn't it? Don't give up hope, just have the courage to be yourself out in the open and have the courage to go out to the world and pirsue your happiness. although it;s easier said than done that;s why I find Densha's courage to so inspiring. My favourite comic fragment is when he is practising the surfing. Such utter dedication, amazing guy :) Very heart-warming. And his friends are super funny and encouraging too. Now the specials. I guess the story follows in Deluxe, right? Then there is another special and finally guitar man vs train man, which is an alternative story?

Yup. But it;s more than that. I find myself relating to it less on romantic levels and more on the question of identity and looking for not only self but self in a meaningful relationship. It's a valid story. Society often brands otherness as "loser". and Densha gave an emotional performance. You just want to hug him all the time. My favourite comic fragment was when he was pracisting the surfing :D That's what I call dedication. I heard that too. It;s uplifting to know such stories may happen. :)

yay!! do you still remeber what happened up to ep 17? Although I think it;s hard to forget. Even though right now I do think like I'd have to reach for my notes from watching the story to recall what was the sequence of events.

Title Densha Otoko
Such a sweet story! Densha is an epitome of endearing. And his friends are funny lol. The humour is kind of specific so this really may not to be to everyone's taste but I think the drama is relatable on many levels - looking for authentic and meaningful relationships, struggle with balancing being true to oneself vs meeting the expectations of the society. Kudos to Densha, he's corageous. And knows how to pick women- Hermes is really lovely.

It's not easy to be honest about one's own self because of society's hypocrisy. I find that society is often too egocentric to appreciate people like Densha. I see and experience it too. That's why I can really empathise with Densha's struggle to be more open. He's such a sweet person.

I'm glad he is able to find authentic relation not just online but he CAN go out to people and find a relationship that is just as meaningfl. He's more courageous than other people in this drama and Hermes also plucks up the courage to trust Densha despite having been hurt. I just love it how she is able to see and appreciate Densha's good character.

Very much so. I find it relatable and very valid. I find it sad when our desperate search for authenthic relationship forces us to think that we must become someone that is completely not what we are in order to conform to the society's hypocritical masquerade. Searching for authentcity while masquerading...these two always strike me as opposites. If you lie to yourself, how can you be authethic? And Densha tries to lie to himself, that he would be all right masquerading.

That being said I find Densha really courageous in trying to balance being true to himself and meeting what he considers to be the expectations of others. He practically stiffles his own selfhood when he packs up his room. It's sad. It's a relief that Densha CAN be himself, he's lucky to find a woman who is open to authenticity, who is open enough to be even more accepting. I really like her too.
