Not reading alladat. Please stop speaking to me.

An apology where you don't take full accountability for your actions in their entirety isn't an apology at all. If the blame needs to be shifted so you can feel like a better person, then how is that an apology?

Nobody is asking for some long, dramatic apology scene. What we're asking for is an ACTUAL apology, where they don't shift the blame to make her look and feel better, but instead have her take full accountability for bullying a boy to the point of traumatizing him and nearly blinding him.

Imagine this being a real-life situation where they took it to the bullying committee, and that was the apology she gave to the victim and his family. I'm sure everyone would see the contrast and how ungenuine her words were. It would show that she simply apologized so he would stop doing to her the things she had previously done to him, rather than actually reflecting on her past actions and how deeply they affected him.

If you're taking her acknowledgement as a REAL apology, then you're way dumber than you should be at your big age. That was hardly an apology when you consider the fact that, instead of having the writers make her apologize and take accountability FULLY, they found a way to equally blame the male lead the reactive actions he did because of her past actions.

If she really understood the gravity of her actions and how they affected the ML(HE CLEARLY EXPLAINED THIS TO HER BTW), then when he praised her right afterward for all of her overbearing actions, along with everything else, she should've stopped him right there and focused on properly apologizing and acknowledging what she had done to him for him to react this way towards her even after so many years..

It became more of a "I'm sorry you felt that way" instead of "I'm sorry that my actions contributed to you becoming this way." Instead of having her genuinely apologize, they shifted the blame and redirected the conversation in a way that made her look like there actions were equally terrible when his was done karmic, so she could physically understand how she made his life hell.

Just saying, "I'm sorry. Thinking back, a lot of my actions were wrong" after nearly blinding him and traumatizing him to the point that he resorted to changing schools rather than remaining her deskmate WAS NOT AN APOLOGY. She was not at all remorseful, somewhat ashamed at best. But sorry she was not!

Nobody is being bias or unfair towards the character. She is self-centered and unfair while also being quite unlikely in several other aspects. The Ml started treating her exactly like she did him in middle school and she found it unfair and abusive totally forgetting this is a retake of what she herself did to someone else. When confronted about her pass actions she found several excuse with the ultimate one being "she didn't mean to harm him, they were children playing and being funny"

Accountability is due. GET THE FUCK ON!

Please stop talking to me cause you're obviously just not understanding. Nothing that happens in book 8 have anything to do with what i'm talking about. Mystic Nine is a prequel before all of the books. Yes in every story/adaptation focus on the mystic nine there is always an antagonist who wants to take them down and claim Zhang Qishan position. that not what my comment is about. the specific purge in this is from future events not from this timeline.....

You obviously know nothing of the timelines. Neither have you read the books base on The Mystic Nine. This adaptation was mostly to focus on a YOUNG Wu laogou. If Xie Jui ye dies in the 1930s then Laogou will not marry and alot of future events will also be omitted. It's also suppose to be two years after the first mystic nine.

Every Director may do their own interpretation/adaptation differently however killing off a character earlier than was planned, that is also intertwine with the future generation and how they come about ultimately fucks the timeline up and erases characters. You're talking shit.

I'm focusing on this adaptation and how base on how it plays out what will happen in the future. Without Xie Jui being alive Laogou will die when he eventually flees.

This mystic nine is set in 1930s. Xie Jui Ye died in 1985-1987 which way after the Old Nine Gates retired and had children who ended following the same grave digging path. Therefore the timeline is indeed messed up. Since they literally mixed future timeline events with the past. This is not only about Jui Ye death. The "Purge of the Mystic Nine" also happened around 1950s and 1960s. The adaptation of Volume 8 would follow the future generation and would literally have hardly anything to do with mystic nine.......

They fucked up the timeline so bad. You know who was suppose to die of old age. Wu laogou was suppose to already be married with children and Huo Xian Gu shouldn't be apart of this story in the way she's involved. You know who was the one who actually help save Wu laogou by marrying him off to his cousin so by this time everybody should've already been old with kids and grandkids. You know who grandson who is 8 would be the head of the family with the help of Er Ye. Because the timeline is so distorted some things just doesn't make sense.

I really hate how common AI is becoming. I hate even more how unrecognizable it has gotten till people are now mistaken it for the real thing. I can't believe Youku is wasting water when they literally can just edit a few scenes from the actual drama and make it into a intro. Chinese dramas are known for their cgi but now that ai has come along either these these artists/specialist are either losing their job or have become complacent. They're not even using ai for scenes that are dangerous to actors or actress, they're using it for dumb shit like intos, train scenes and scenes of multiple tower. OMG grow up and stop destroying the environment.

Imma start by saying this show was wasted potential.

I don't believe the high school period was unnecessary or too long. I, in fact, wished the drama was centered around high school to university, with barely anything about their adult/career paths.

I do, however, think the director was quite nonsensical. The drama is called "Genius Girlfriend", for God's sake... why are we 24 episodes in out of 28, and there's no sign of a confession? It's pretty obvious from the very start that these two characters liked each other very much. There was no need for the time skip or for him to cut contact with them over a debt. And even if they thought it was necessary to the story, they should've worked on resolving it and giving them a better reunion.

I don't see how you can make a drama called "Genius Girlfriend" and all we see is the genius part and none of the girlfriend aspect. As a matter of fact, we barely saw her being a genius. This was more of a coming-of-age story for a socially awkward girl; basically her journey of learning proper communication and building relationships. There's no doubt she's smart and stands out academically, but the whole "genius" thing was underdeveloped and also poorly delivered.

Jin Buihui and Ze Qiu's story was rushed and forced. Outside of that, for a proper wrap-up, Buihui should've stood up for herself firmly at least once against her parents and spoken her mind, then cut ties with them. I'm not buying into the whole act of them changing after 20+ years of constantly mentally, verbally, and emotionally abusing her.

My favorite relationship would've been between Tingting and Qi Yan if they didn't decide to fuck that up too. Surprisingly, I can give this relationship some grace because even they themselves didn't realize why they got upset when they saw the other with a potential love interest, since they've always carried the persona of disliking each other. So I kinda understand why they didn't get together sooner. It was still in fact rushed, though.

Shen Fu Xuan stood no chance. Both Yubai and Zhi Xia liked each other way before he even entered the picture. I understand that when you develop feelings, it's hard to get over them quickly, but like... yeah, Yubai and Zhi Xia were basically inseparable from the very first day of their reunion. Baby, please. 😭

Anyways, I liked the fact that they didn't have him and Jiang Yubai fighting or developing hatred toward each other over it. I also love the fact that despite him liking her and all, he knew when to take a step back. He kept his feelings to himself, not because he would've been rejected, but because he knew it would've ruined their friendship.

Overall, they had it in the bag and fumbled. This could've been by far one of the best youth dramas, but they just had to ruin it with the adult-life aspect, the forced relationships, and the losing contact and time skip. All of which were so sloppy that it downgraded the whole show.

If they wanted to keep the same pacing post-episode 24, then this drama should've been at least 34 episodes.

Even in the books, I've always hated the Hou clan because of their hypocrisy. They'll always play the victim, acting like the whole world rob them and always choose to use the excuse that they have it hard simply because they're women. They dress and live luxuriously, then cry about their legacy dying and the lack of money they have. It's nobody's fault but their own. Just irritating for no reason.

I'm genuinely not even trying to be or sound misogynistic because I'm a woman myself, but how can they constantly get involved with the Japanese, (in every story, btw both directly and indirectly) and somehow remain poorer and more in debt than before the last deal? The worst thing about this is that they're somehow always pawns and lapdogs for men and never other powerful women... how?

For a clan so hypocritical, I'm surprised no other master has successfully challenged their seat in the Mystic Nine. With how utterly stupid the sisters are, they would've likely sold it away for a few red coins.

I genuinely forgot how much I dislike them, even more than I do Chenpi.

Offended? I asked you if you understood what I was trying to say in my comment because (I THINK) you totally misinterpreted what I said. What you said actually made a great point, but it’s totally far-fetched from what I was saying. 😭

This is so foolish….. I believe that in a competition everything should be fair game to win as long as it’s not illegal or overly morally wrong. The fact they’re making THIS their “reason” just makes her come off as incompetent and not really a genius🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️ idk. In every competition I know during training your coach will literally train you to learn your rival weakness and how to combat it. The fact she’s (or anyone else for that matter) entering a competition EXPECTING to be competing against her friend makes me wonder in such a condition what she expected the results to be like? Is he not suppose to see an advantage to win and use it? The fact he’s her friend and study the way she is means nothing when you think about the fact that that’s exactly what coaches do….they literally learn your rival player’s weakness and train you sometimes base on that and how to use it against them🙄

On All of Us Are Dead 18 days ago
finally completed after dropping and picking up several times.

I honestly don't get the hype because this wasn't good at all. It was just overly annoying for no reason. A very irritating drama.

The only sensible people "died"—the father and Cheong-san.

The fact that they kept Choi Nam-ra mixed in with everybody, even after she admitted out of her own mouth that she wanted to bite Su-hyeok, was highly irresponsible and completely disregarded everyone else's safety. I understand that a few of them didn't feel threatened, and I can objectively understand why they made that decision. That's not what pissed me off.

What pissed me off was the fact that Su-hyeok saw Nam-ra trying to attack On-jo and did absolutely nothing to stop her. He was literally willing to stand there and watch Nam-ra kill a perfectly healthy human being, even though he had the power to stop it and simply chose not to.

Cheong-san didn't turn, yet nobody fought to keep him with the group, even though he had been the leading mind behind their survival up to that point.

I don't care how much you love or care about your friend. Once they've turned, it's pretty obvious they're no longer the person you once knew. If you're alone and you want to take that risk, then by all means. But if you're part of a group, then you and that infected mfer need to stay 30 miles away. YOU made the decision to keep them as your friend even though they're infected, but the rest of the group didn't agree to take on that risk. I really hated how everybody was forced to compromised in the end.

I really hate how grey and nonsensical these characters were. Everybody wanted to play the good guy, and funnily enough, It was always innocent people who never agreed to certain decision get attack and bitten first.

But serves On-jo right, because she helped convince everybody to keep Nam-ra. She should've gotten bitten ad killed. She's annoying anyway. Sick a her ass.

Bruh, it's so unbelievably stupid and irritating. You literally watched this girl lift a grown man against a wall and eat his guts, and you're still convinced she's the same classmate you knew? Just because she recognizes YOU or won't bite YOU doesn't mean she isn't a danger to everybody else.

If you wanted to stay with her so badly, then you shouldn't have followed the group to the shelter in the first place.

Lee Na-yeon was wrong about a lot of things, and she's literally the devil from hell. But at the end of the day, she was the only person who viewed survival objectively. Had she not been so twisted and self-centered, her ability to separate the living from the infected would've taken that group much further. That half-turned would've never remained with the group, and even if she had, Na-yeon would've made sure she stayed separated because of the obvious danger she posed.

Even if everyone initially agreed to let Nam-ra stay while she was only half-turned and barely showing symptoms, it's a completely different situation once two people witnessed her rip a man's stomach open and then attempt to bite one of them.

It's so weird to me that you can watch her do all of that and still decide search for her to bring her back and around a group of normal people who she would now literally only see as food.

I just found it ridiculous that the only SANE person ended up being the one who was half-turned, while the actual group of human beings continued making one irrational decision after another.

On Duty after School: Part 1 19 days ago
A lot of great characters died, while some the most annoying ones survived and even had more screen time. I couldn't fully enjoy this because of that.

Characters like Gook Yeong Soo, Lee Soon Yi, Kim In Hye, Yoo Ha Na, Hong Jun Hui, and Woo Hee Rak should've been the first ones to die. They're useless and do nothing but run their mouths.

Cho Jang Su, Kim Yoo Jeong, Jang Yeong Hoon, Do Soo Cheol, and Park Eun Young were characters that deserved far more exploration and much longer storylines. I feel like two of them were killed off way too soon, and as for the others, they simply weren't utilized enough.

Outside of Lee Na Ra's shooting skills, her character is very flat. I feel the same way about Kim Chi Yeol. Outside of him liking Na Ra, there's really not much to his character.

Overall, 8/10. Wasted potential and very dry storytelling outside of the few scenes where they're under attack. If they're not being attacked, it's a snooze fest.
