I read the novel AFTER watching the show lol, like, sure, he is weaker, but the gap being THAT big? I wouldn't feel that bad if he was actually doing SOME damage and show that he is THE dragon that everyone fears and respects. Hell, make it a tagteam fight where both ML and FL are doing considerable damage and FL deals the final blow, that wouldn't be too bad. Here, it's basically FL vs final boss, you can remove the ML entirely from the equation and the outcome would be the same because the ML couldn't do anything anyways. I still like the show but I feel so damn bad for the ML every time I think about it. Unironically the "bro thinks he's part of the team" meme.
The more I think about it, the more I feel like the ML is severely nerfed here. In the novel, the FL made a huge sacrifice to restore ML to full power, and ML absolutely demolishes the final boss and he lived up to his name, but FL dies and reincarnates.
Here, ML is at 100% of his power, got everything back including the sword PLUS his fire literally "hard-counters" the final boss. Annnnd he couldn't do anything to the boss, even with the master's sacrifice, he couldn't even put a dent in that HP bar. FL literally has to do his job for him and perishes in the process, like, ML didn't achieve...anything in the final fight?

That's a bit harsh ey? I mean, My Demon was good...I think...up till episode 10. I think episode 10 is fantastic but it hits the climax too early? Overall it's still okay, I won't ever compare it to the dumpster fire known as Namsoon though. That is in a league of its own.
After EP28, my immediate thought is that they're gonna write it like this:
On the verge of death / during coma, LJS is gonna see a vision where he's teleported back into his ideal reality where everything is sunshine and rainbows. His daughter is alive, his wife is alive...it's pristine. He's so happy living in that reality but something keeps telling him that this isn't real...BUT, it could be, if he manages to turn that into reality in the real world. The dream is so pleasant and comfortable...he can stay there, if he wants. Unless he walks out of that door...
"Where are you going?" "Back to where I belong." "Isn't this what you wanted all along?" "I really want to stay here, trust me, I really do...but I have a job to do. A person that I need to protect." "Are you gonna leave us?" the daughter asked. "As much as I want this to be real...deep down, I know it isn't. However, I will make it real."

This is how I predict things will go (after a glimpse at EP29, it's kinda similar I guess.)
Unpopular opinion: Tian Yao's character kinda sucks in terms of power level. Think about it for a second. Did he win a single significant fight? His dragon flame is a natural counter to the final boss and he still gets no-diff'ed, he actually contributed close to nothing, especially in the final arc, Yan Hui is the MVP no?
