Never read the novel. Never even want to read it too now tho I was always curious about vp's relationship there.…
Thank you for reading and glad I helped you , althought that is my own interpratation of the character cause fiction is about people interprating things differently and that is where the charm lies.

Honestly, they really did Vegas dirty in the new book.Trash.
There is no way they can redeem Vegas now, at least in my eyes, how can they excuse abuse towards a child and Pete who was previously abused by him?

It is like Pete serves for a emotional outlet yet again that Vegas uses to satisfy his sick desires.

Im with you, so angry at this chapter there arent enough words in my dictionary to express it. VegasPete was slowly…
VegasPete used to be one of my favorite love stories, well still is but only the series now, the novel is just badly written, the writers have no idea about consistency in a character or a story. I honestly can not root for this couple in the novel anymore.

after that ending of season 1 ...i can't imagine Vegas doing that kind of shitty things.... remember how Vegas…
I think of Vegas in the series and vegas in the novel as two different people and I just made a comment on that, I feel that BOC won't dissapoint us like the novel did.

I have said it before, I love VegasPete story both in the novel and the series but I like their relationship in the series more. Now considering how things turn out in the new chapter I am disappointed. Vegas' actions left a bitter taste in my mouth which is why I love their story even more in the drama.

Their bond in the series is stronger despite the story being rushed because of the limited screentime. I have pointed out before that Vegas in the series is selfless when it comes to his love towards Pete in contrast to the Vegas from the novel.

Vegas fell in love with Pete in the novel because Pete satisfied his inner child. He liked Pete's submission and caring nature. Pete was mostly putting up with him at first and he only started developing feelings because Vegas started acting kind, but Vegas kind actions stem from Pete's submission. Which makes me think they are still not equal in their relationship. In their relationship it is Pete who satisfies Vegas. He is a giving person and Vegas just receives everything Pete gives him and only treats him nicely to keep him by his side. Vegas even admitted that he spoiled Pete before to make him stay. He desperately wants to keep Pete close to satisfy his need for affection. He puts his own needs above Pete . In other words, sometimes it feels that Vegas likes the love he recieves from Pete and not Pete himself. Somehow he is convinced that Pete is a masochist too that enjoyed the pain, which is not true. Nothing In Pete's pov in the novel indicates that he enjoyed pain, even if he is a masochist he definitely did not enjoy rape. Dominant/submissive relationships do not work like that, it is based on trust and consent which VegasPete did not have in the beginning of their story. Pete was a victim and Vegas his abuser.

On the other hand, I feel that the changes in Pete's character in the series paved the way for a stronger relationship to be formed between Vegas and he. They built their relationship on a more solid and stronger foundation, they were definitely not equals in the series either at the beginning since Pete remained a hostage but there is a significant difference that led them to a more balanced relationship later on. That is Vegas showing concern towards Pete when he fainted. Vegas was the first one to showcase a change in his behaviour in the series, unlike in the novel where it was Pete in an attempt to survive. Also in the series, what made Vegas more open to changes was Pete provinding him with enlightment. Pete did not comfrot Vegas like he did in the novel in order not to upset him, in the series he made him look at things from a different perspective opening his eyes. Pete must have been the first person who saw the root of Vegas' problem and pointed it out to him. Of course Vegas had his selfish moments in the series by refusing to let Pete go but once he was abandoned he really re-considered his actions. I think Vegas in the series came to love Pete as a person more than he came to love the way Pete made him feel. In other words, he loves Pete for making him feel comforted, accepeted, cared for, special, seen. But, he also recognizes the fact that Pete is the one who makes him feel that way,no one else, Pete is special and he loves Pete for that. Because of the person Pete is. He is not just a shell that pleases Vegas' desires.

His selflessness in the series is also showcased in simple scenes and lines taken from the novel that were changed in the series. I like how the series took the significant scenes from the novel and adjusted them in a way that portray Vegas' character development in a different way. Truly outstanding. Details are really important and a slight change can make a difference. I will explain futher what I mean.

In the novel, Vegas asks Porsche to keep a close eye to Pete and asks him to never let him enter a relationship with anyone else. While Vegas in the series he asks for Porsche's help to meet Pete, he does it only to apologize. He did not ask anything of Pete, he prioritized Pete's feelings and realized that what Pete needed was a proper apology. That was the first time he put Pete above him. Vegas continues to put Pete before his needs, he does not seem to seek for a chance to get Pete back and that is reinforced from the fact that Vegas confessed his love to Pete but unlike in the novel, he never made Pete choose between him and the main family. He also pushed Pete away asking him to find someone better, in contrast to what he did in the novel where he made sure Pete does not get a chance to be with anyone else.
Another scene, that is worth mentioning for me is the love scene. I will not compare it with the rape scenes from the novel, I will compare it to the scene where they first had consentual sex in the novel. In the novel, Vegas promises not to hurt Pete but the way he approaches the situation feels as if he wants to satisfy his desires once again. He disergards Pete's fear and trauma and does not provide him with a choice.
'' Will you hurt me if I say no?''
''I would not dare to do anything extreme but I don't want to stop''

In the series however, Vegas asks for Pete's permission and while they were making love he was gentle and making sure Pete was enjoying it. He actually considered how Pete was feeling maintaing eye contact the whole time seeing his expression and was careful not to press on his wounds.

Lastly, in the hospital scene, in the novel Vegas's reaction waking up to Pete was totally different .Not only was he not surprised that Pete was there, he accepted the new situation quite easily. As if he had just gotten what he wanted and was content. In the series however, Vegas was still processing the fact that Pete chose him,he was suprised and did not even want to be a burden to him. He even gave him the option to leave, an option that Vegas from the novel never gave Pete.

In conclusion, Vegas in the series is far more understanding and considerate of Pete's feelings because he accepts the fact that Pete is the person he loves and not just a shell that satisfies his crave for affection. That is why I believe their relationship is on an equal ground while they do maintain their dom/sub undertones in a healthy way.

I just need Pete to take Venice with him and leave Vegas behind. But not return this time, seems he has not learnt his lesson and he was already given a second chance that he did not take advantage of to do better.
Of course Vegas would not change and become an angel, but going backwards and returning to his old self disregarding all his character development as if it never happened is a completely different thing.

I wanted to see Vegas trying to do better because Pete gave him a chance and chose him. I wanted him to treasure that. In the special chapters he was feeling guilty of how he abused Pete and now you say that he misses abusing him and he rapes him?

Since BOC changed many important plot points from the novel I believe they have a different scenario about next season, That is why I hope those terrible scenes from the novel won't make it to the adaptation and that Vegas will live up to his character development.

Like I thought we were past Vegas being a piece of shit to Pete. His redemption arc is what made him dear to the fans, the writing is not constant in the novel, Daemi does not know shit about writing a character.

What happened to Vegas' '' I will not hurt you again''
what happened to Vegas' ' can we start over?''
What happened to him throwing away the chains after realising they were a symbol of pain he brought upon Pete?
What happened to the Vegas that said Pete is his everything?
What happened to the Vegas that was so sorry to the point that he was ready to die by Pete's hands?
What happened to the Vegas that was slowly accepting of Venice?

In their special chapters they were six months into their relationship and he was living up to his character development. Now he is as bad as he was. Pete does not deserve this treatmnet after eveything he went through during his captivity and still chose HIM. Now he abuses both his lover and a child. He is turning into a terrible lover and parent just like his father, how will he redeem himself in the novel now?
I wanted to see protective Vegas and all I got is Vegas leaving Pete behind when he was shot. How is that the same person that asked his bodyguards not to hurt Pete when they were on different sides?

Porsche too is a terrible friend. He first gives Pete to Vegas in exchange of information and now he shoots him leaving him to bleed.

And Vegas does not only mistreats Pete and Venice but he also leaves Pete in the dark about his alliance with Porsche and their plans. He is so selfish too, caring about fulfiling his own desires not taking into consideration Pete's feelings. He should treasure Pete more and be grateful that somehow he still chose to be with him after all the terrible things that Vegas did to him. At this point I want Pete to take Venice and run away from Vegas.
