Thank you for commenting, I will check out your link too, part 2 uses exampels from K-dramas but the tropes are…
i am really enjoying this discussion with you, so please do continue commenting and writing your thoughts, it helps me both understand your point of view as well as my own. so no I do not think you are attacking it at all, I am just trying to understand gaps in the way I express myself and how it is perceved (some of the commetns got me wondering)-

Askig for more dramas calling it out does not mean I want to forbid it just that I rather have more of it. I do not really see it as a guilty pleasure, like I really enjoyed Addicted not as a rom-com but as an interesting portrayal of a toxic relationship. Some rom coms will be pure fluff but have elemnts that just feel unnessesery and can easely pass by and be perseved as romantic for the untraind eye, theesee are not eather guilty pleasures in my mind but I am afraid that if that is all a person watches, and does not see it being called out there is a risk of getting the idea that that behaviour is acceptable like the drunk kisses in forever love.

Some dramas will have a sid eof assult that takes over the enjoyment if it gets too much like in professional singel which took away the fluff for me , also some may not see the behaviour as problematic and that is fine for them but I wnat to empower those who are or may be subjected to such behaviour in real life , telling them it is okay to say no and that it is not acceptable behaviour. obviously not you becouse you do understand both the difference between fiction and real life but if i look back at a younger version of myself i needed more people to tell me that, and feel it can not be told enough..

I do not really know where I am going with this, this is not really a solution oriented peace more a look that happens just so you know it is not okay in real life (sorry if I am repeating myself) I think some of these should probably come with some kind of warning tag I guess but will settele with making people aweare of the behaviour so they recognise it. I have no intention to impose a teaching responsabilaty on the writers eather, just wishing for more consent...

Did this make it clearer or more confusing?

Thank you for commenting, I don’t spend so much time in the comment section but am often on feeds. I love discussing…
Sorry I missed this post yesterday. I'm sure the relationship can, my intention with this article is to make viewers aweare when they watch, and to use these to explain the consept of consent in a hopeflly accesable way so that when people do see this behaviour they will not just let it pass by as romantic and in to relationship goals outside of the screne.

The C-drama that disturbed me the most was the 2018 meteor garden. There was a scene where he basically assaulted…
you are welcome, thank you for reading and commenting. Meteor garden is one of few dramas I dropped even thoug I loved Boys over Flowers (the K-version,) even though it has its problams too and I write about it in part 2. I think marking it could be a good way to go so that the behavioiur will not just pas sby as acceptable.

I am sorry, I am trying to understand where we fail to agree with eachother. I wrote this article to rais awearness amoung viewers and open up the conversation and ask for more dramas where they call this out not censur or forbid these from being made, if It did come across that way i sencerly appolagise.

Thank you so much for this article! I just couldn't agree for more esp this part:'A downside to many of the oh…
you are welcom, and I llove it when people quote in the comments, I do not why but I really do. I now realise that I should have been more clear that the behaviour can be spotted in dramas from all countries (in or outside MDL) I just made use of the c-s for this one. In part 2 I use K-dramas and focus on other aspects of consent. I hope you will want to read it when it comes out.

This kind of thing is so hard for me as an artist to grapple with. On one hand I think that writers have the creative…
Yes I think there are a lot of misconceptions and interpertationons of this so I really did want to try to explain it in a comprehensible and "fun" way. I think writers would be even more creative and find ways to expirement with this if they got educated on the matter, just the way knowing about it makes viewing more fun.

omg I can't believe Professional Single has a rape scene?????
It has a date rape scene, some think of it as sudduction, I see it as problamatic to say the least and interpert it more as date rape. So I guess it is up to the viewer to decide on that,

Though art and life may imitate one another at times, I think the primary purpose of these dramas is, first and…
Thank you for commenting, I will check out your link too, part 2 uses exampels from K-dramas but the tropes are universial and not only seen in Asian dramas. I would however like to adress the comparession between watching a rom coms Addicted Heroin has the genres: Friendship, Romance, School, Youth while Squid game has the tags Action, Thriller, Mystery, Which is a HUGE difference in how people relate to the content. So it is not really comparable. I react differently to these action in a thriller than in a rom com. I aloso think most of the dramas mentioned are good dramas and that watching them with awearness actually makes it even more entertaining.

I am a parant and (an educator by occupation) and am sorry to say that neather schools or parants have as big influance as many of us may wish to think, people of all ages and genders are influened by a whole range of outlets. On the brightside there is hope for those of us with not so great parants. I think that the more we talk about it the better, I am advocating for more conversations about it and do not in any way advocate for censership if you by any chance got the idea however I think this is a good place to lift these issues in a simple way and concretize it with the help of dramas.

We should also talk about Female Leads like in My amazing boyfriend 2 she basically tries forcing her boyfriend…
I definitely think there is a lot to talk about, I have not seen cute programmar but how female leads are portrayed is definitely an interesting issue. However even if two wrongs do not make a right it is not really a comparable problem for reasons I explained in the beginning of this article. But thank you for sharing your thoughts 😊
