TBH it didn't even look all that much, I got a bit claustrophobic looking at the "deluxe VVIP" areas. Why the heck would they be so cramped up?!

This is still so underwhelming. There's so much eyecandy in the person of LJH walking like he's on the catwalk - which I deeply appreciate - but the rest of it...

I also can see that a lot of money went into filming locations and decorations, but this isn't supposed to be "Lifestyles of the rich and famous", is it? Where's the actual story?

So, other than the adds for haute couture three-piece costumes, high-q watches, the latest vroom cars and whatnot, is there anything of substance to this drama?... :(

His face when he realized ShiAn is actually in the place, too, thinking he's made his lucky escape, and she just looks up and then the sword is back on his neck, "SO WHAT?"

That there tells you she has no idea who ShiAn actually is, and all her schemes to get married into a good family didn't even include the little detail if she's going to even like ShiAn after she didn't see him for six years.

Love is in the air for JiuSi and he doesn't even know it.

I didn't realize I actually wanted a story with a strongly confident MC who confuses everyone around her, LOL. She knows what she wants and she's going to get it, and if people think she's crazy while she goes about that business, well, that's not her problem, is it?

Seo-Ha won't know what hit him, LOL.

You can believe anything if you're 10 and like stories with witches. He's an adult now and he's got scars from growing. Nobody can predict how he could react this time.

She did say in the second ep that there are two categories of people. One with the people she can tell everything and they won't be judgy or treat her any different... and two, the ones she should never, ever tell the truth to. She doesn't know how older/adult Seo-Ha would react to finding out who she is, so she's just going to give him hints and wait for him to remember and decide which category he's in.

They divorced. She moved on to get her career back on track, he moved on to get his foreign trading company back on track, this time with a lot of help from XCS's company.

This is very cute so far. I guess once they move on past the enemies-to-lovers phase there'll be more than romantic hijinks, but they're both so cute doing them that I don't actually want them to move on LOL.

That wedding was a visual feast. I suppose it's not every man who gets married like that.... but the pomp and the spent money you could see everywhere... I pity old age Chinese rich people who did get such weddings LOL, it must've cleaned them out :D

I wonder how good the novel is already :D

I wanted to see what punishment CHJ and LSY got, but oh well, at least it'll be prison.

As for HHL, she started delusional and ended delusional. I had some hope for her redemption when she had the talk with YGH, but nope. She can't do it. She wants to be a master violonist, oh well, go get it.

The SARS epidemic in 2002-04 is TINY, compared to SARS-COV2. "Only" about 8000 people in total infected, with a 6.6% fatality rate (that one is huge though), compared to the ongoing epidemic, which is the 5th deadliest ever, with 7.6 million cases and about 7 million deaths it caused. If only they could have gotten a hold on it as they managed with the previous ones... This one's a culture-changing ongoing disease, but it's scary to see it could have happened way earlier on the same scale and be more or less even more deadly, considering what was going on in the world around 2002 and thereabouts. (And at least the MERS epidemic didn't spread, that one was the deadliest to the people it infected).

For the happy family - I am so GLAD for everybody. For XCS and TXM, for XTQ and QT, even (just a bit) for YGH. I mean, while there's life, there's hope.

Is it bad I like Qi Miao more than Xiao BeiBei, LOL? Because I do.

Ah, a HE. I wanted that and spoilers from previews made me scared for a while. But all's well that ends well.

For ML, you could try Just Between Lovers, that's a good drama, IMHO.

For FL, I got nothing. This is my 3rd drama with her as FL, and I didn't much like her in the other two.

He went to college for those years. His older step-sister is the one who keeps up a wall between him and his father. There's probably some history there that's going to be revealed when they want to change the registry from rom-com to some heavy stuff.

SaRang is a bit too simple, yes. But it's first ep only. She doesn't seem to even have a life outside the hotel and her girlfriends. Does she even have a family?! I guess they'll let us know.

Not the best opening of a drama, but not the worst either. At least there's some eye-candy.

I'm not certain yet, but I'll give it a go for a few more eps, for LJH's sake. (It's a rom-com, but I hope it's not too dumbed down. Hilarious situations can happen even if we're not into misunderstanding-leads-to-enmity and then they become lovers because there's purely physical attraction or something.) The ending of ep 1 leans into burlesque and that's definitely not my type of humour, but maybe they'll up it a little in the next eps. We'll see.

PS Which English castle was that, though? I bet there are some drama addicts who can recognize it.

I am going to go out on a loosely historical bend and propose that alcoholic beverages were discovered way, WAY before 10th century CE.

I mean, the very first findings place fermented rice (and fruits) drinks in China, nine thousand years ago (8 thou' before Al-Razi even lived). Ancient Egyptians were drinking wine and small ale way before Persia even became Persia. Al-Razi realized one of the earliest categorization of elements we know of, but he didn't invent alcohol, just placed it on a category where it belonged.

That is not to say Al-Razi didn't invent a specific type of alcoholic drink, or a specific way to make it, by research or by mistake/side effect of an experiment (she said he invented the original soju, not alcohol in general). But we (mankind) were getting drunk on fermented fallen fruits even before we made it completely down off the trees, so to speak. Even now, animals get drunk on fermented fallen apples and the like, LOL, we weren't special.

Yeah, YGH remembers how XCS said he was YGH when HeiZi was basically threatening them, but he just oops forgets how XCS got him off a freaking landmine and stepped on it himself. And conviniently leaves out how that gave YGH a hero status in the army and opened his future there for ranks and honour.

Instead it's, "you looked at the girl and she looked back and liked what she saw". Petty, really petty.

After all, they've not been in each other's lives for at least 10 years, EVERYBODY grows out of that jealousy phase, LOL. Just not YGH or HCJ. That's why they will lose out in the end.

Okay, I'm going to watch this for SHS. I hope the script does her acting abilities justice.

If anyone reports CHJ, he's going down. This is 2000s China, no actual whistle-blower protections (not that there's any now, I don't think), but CHJ without the Ye family backup is NOTHING. He thinks he made it all himself, but Ye Fang's family had to prop him so that he could even go to college and become a cadre, and now he's divorcing and stabbing YGH in the back after doing shady business with the Li scum, no way anyone's going to stand up for him.

Well, XCS might've at some point in time, but I bet not this time.

And let's not even mention the morale problem - he had a second family (even if he's not married to the mistress) and a child outside marriage, he's going to be expelled from the party and that means no more cushy state jobs for him and a thorough investigation. He can't justify much of his money that's been given by Li. That's why YF doesn't want ANYTHING outside what she made or brought in herself, she can definitely see what the future holds for CHJ.
