I'm a few eps from the end and Xia JingYan stole the show LOL. I think he's the most entertaining villain I've watched in a while. I want him to have a happy end (though he probably won't).

Here's hoping she stays with him. I seriously want him to get a true redemption arc. (Though I still think they probably won't give him one). All hail Qin TianYu, he totally nailed the role :)

Got it, April 3rd, binge-watch day LOL.

Okay, that 5th ep is a freaking masterpiece. The production values are so high I'm getting dizzy LOL. The whole sinking was movie-grade.

Also, they have Zuo Ye, LOL, he looked cuter in FoF but I'm glad to see him again. I hope he's one of the good guys.

Had this saved for a nice rainy day good for watching drama, opened the first ep by mistake and got hooked on Sa DingDing. It's been a long while since I've listened to her voice in a drama (I think last time it probably was The Blue Whisper).

So now I'm going to binge-watch this drama, LOL, and it did have a strong start too. And sooo much eyecandy. I guess I'll just get used to diabetes again LOL.

Sadly, discord is far from a safe space for normal enjoyment of anything danmei. Thiel's Palantir has its claws deep in it and there was a data safety hot topic these past few days about how they wanted (and delayed) getting people to show ID in order to access mature content (as which danmei would probably be labeled). Discord SAYS they distanced themselves, but once burned twice shy. And they DID have data leaks even before it came out they were working with P.

For anyone who cares about their data and personal info (including ID), or who's from a country that frowns upon anything not approved for cultural or religious reasons, beware.

Wow, finally LYR's apparition in ep15 (is it a cameo or does he come on a few more times?)

Anyway - there were points this looked a LOT like TBoY, only with a love triangle and a lot less fighting choreo LOL. And I can't get over the LOTR-like BGM (seriously, doesn't anyone else hear it? :D)

A few eps back I was about to complain nobody in the support cast got something to do or a back story, but now I'm more relaxed about it (since You GuanYue appeared, LOL, he's taking over everything hahaha~)

Too bad about the editing (like pay that editor some lessons in editing, they seriously need it).

Still, it's going strongly and very entertaining so far (I just wish she made up her mind already and put YuZhi down gently or forcibly, however needed, since he doesn't seem able to think for himself. That's a 2ML general trait though, he can't help it LOL). A bit more clarity on the general plot wouldn't hurt either (I guess they're there for MQY to take back the Li Sect, okay, though the Nie leaders don't seem to even pay attention too much, so far, LOL, that's a VERY slow-motion war going on there.) But hey, I don't complain. I guess I'm watching more for the main characters to interract than for the general plot, anyway.

PS When he took her to "Carefree" and it was The Silence Room in TU, I kind of squeaked LOL. How many MLs will take their lovers to a secluded room in order to talk about their father's misguided love life and do it in the same precise location LOL? :D That room is already doomed :D

They might have said whatever or might not, I did watch this drama, and I know danmei/BL when I watch it (or read it). This is not censored BL.

But I don't mind if people want to see it that way, so whatever.

The first 15 eps or so set up the stage for the following tragedy (and plants most of the seeds for the second half of the drama, slowly and pretty subtly at times). Give it at least until 15-17, when it turns. Then you'll see why everybody is calling it a masterpiece (and it is). Even censored, the drama would stand on its own based on the plot only, the relationship is just the icing on the cake.

Also, pay attention to all the support characters, not just the mains. Everybody has their own stories and they're all inter-linked.

Don't miss out on WangXian for being impatient, LOL.

Just... enjoy the fun times until they're gone.

Mid-4th ep (life gets in the way), this is surprisingly interesting. I haven't watched the ML or FL in anything yet, they are good. I LOVE the BGM (sounds like LOTR from time to time, LOL).

I like the twists that keep twisting and I LOVE the way nobody explains anything (YES PLEASE!!! Don't tell me, SHOW ME. I'll make my own decisions, thanks). I think this'll be at least very entertaining, no matter how it turns out.

(I do have a small peeve, WTH is it with those costumes? The men's pants are... something else. When they're in robes, you can see the classic look, but when they're in those pants it takes me out of it every time LOL).

Also, please someone who read the novel tell me the guy with the medicine (err, maybe poisons?) from the aunt's generation is a good guy. He's way too cute to be evil. And I hope he doesn't die.

I'd read this and wanted to try watching it, within 15 minutes I started skipping (big) chunks of time because the adults' story was so bland and uninteresting, I eventually opened something else and never returned to the first ep. I think I had reached (with skips and all) about three-quarters in the first ep.

That means the baby/toddler might be cute, but it's too painful watching a whole drama just to see glimpses of the baby. Unless you're hormonal or fall for the baby-making nuclear family drama propaganda, LOL (this would be the second making it so in-your-face after WTSG, but maybe I missed a few along the way :D) Which doesn't mean one couldn't enjoy such stories, far from me to suggest to other people what to do with their time.

But it's not for me, and I AM actively looking for my next kdrama, I want to mix them up a little, I've basically ran out of kdramas I'd WANT to watch :(

Is this a dead season for good new kdramas? Are they waiting for the summer or at least spring?! Is it because of the Olympics?! ...Dammit.

This reminds me I need to continue the first season, I left off somewhere (don't even remember which ep), I'll probably have to re-start LOL. But I remember it wasn't bad, as much as I did watch of it.

Like, SERIOUSLY, ALL THE WOMEN in that household wanted the poor guy dead. WHY?! Before the concubine started drugging him, he was supposedly kind to the wife. Why would she want him dead? If she's such a good practically trained physician, how come she didn't realise the drug pills were in the braziers? The twist end that she had planned it all doesn't actually make sense - he's presumably an okay-ish guy when not drugged out of his mind and in continuous pain. And they didn't even make it clear who gave the concubine the pills in braziers in the first place - the sister or the wife. Because it doesn't make any sense with either of them.

Then the official reason for it - she was a woman in a men's world doing everything to survive blah blah blah - she's STILL going to use her own son to rule the fiefdom. She didn't get any more power for herself but by proxy. WTF kind of reason is that? Is she just going to make her own son into a puppet?!

And the sister - WHY would SHE want him dead? Her unrecognised daughter wouldn't have anything to gain by losing her official father, instead she's going to be the elder daughter of a man-less house, with very little standing.

Then the mother... She was waspish then motherly then crazy then just a sad little old lady LOL. She went through more characters than the year has seasons.

And all for WHAT?! (I do admit HMH looked nicely tormented in those few drama time days when ShanBao got to him and he was all clingy. But the whole 6-eps new drama in the middle of it didn't make a lot of sense except it lengthened it a bit...)

Oh well - the first arcs were very good, the ending not so good, I'd give it a 8.5 for most of it but lower it to an 8 because of the non-sensical ending.

The last arc is a whole new drama feat. different main characters LOL, a whole dish of Chinese Opera-level tale complete with a closed room murder mystery on top.

...TBH that brought it down overall for me.

I wholeheartedly agree in the matter of the leaks regarding Lee Sun-Kyun, He was investigated and before there was even a chance to fight the allegations and present his POV, the press leaks campaign destroyed his reputation of decades of being in the public eye, presumably directly affected his family and relationships, personal or professional, and drove him to his death.

Despite contesting the accusations and even being proven innocent in a first probe (they never proved he did any drugs), the public opinion was manipulated to see him as yet another druggie going to try to save himself from a scandal, and he couldn't take it.

I know tabloids are going to do their thing, because that's what makes them money - but the officials who leak things that could destroy a person's livelihood and/or professional career and/or family while making profit off those leaks, should see some just rewards. And by that I mean at least heavy fines and/or prison time. You cannot hound a man - or more - to their deaths just in the name of profit, FGS - where are we heading to as a society if our favourite prey is our fellow man?!

As for CEW's issue - TBH, his work is already affected, isn't it? I haven't followed the story (he's still in the army right?), periodic articles keeping the tax evasion IF PROVEN in focus seem to aim at making it hard to cover up something if there's anything to cover up. YET at the same time, rich people can, and do use all avenues to pay as little as possible, and I doubt he'd be the only one doing it. Again, IF PROVEN. And also... I don't really want to read all about it, as I'm pretty sure however they solve this will not affect ME in any way, shape or manner.

Just wanted to comment on this one because of the mention about LSK - whoever leaked THAT kind of info (and kept leaking) should be in jail.

Though TBH he WAS way too suspicious, being so naive and kind and righteous and only doing the right thing - and LJL not warming up to him for a second (as he did warm up towards Mr. Bai).

Still that was so far-fetched LOL. Way to be over-dramatic :D

PS And what the heck is going on NOW with LJL?! What infamous family secret did he find out? I bet it's a family secret, or something. It always is, when it comes to orphans.

Ep 29 - what in the makjang did I just watch LOL.

(Middle of 24th, this is addictive) I just LOVE how FINALLY a character can and does - quite regularly LOL - explode into fits of rage :D Watching LJL go off rails because she's stubborn or particularly calculated and dismissive at some points is SO GOOD LOL.

I don't think I've seen a HMH character do that before, hahaha~ He's so cute when he's angry :D And it goes to show you can love somebody and still get yelling mad at them at the same time :D

Finally had the time to re-start this one, and I have to say it... it skipped my mind how much chemistry HMH has with EVERYTHING that moves. He has chemistry with his co-leads, his support cast, his guest role partners, EVERYONE and everything that shows up in a scene, he has chemistry with it.

This man should be called Mr. Curie LOL.
