I finished this drama a few days ago. I loved it for the most part. Can someone please explain who the woman was…
She's just the set-up for season2, if any (I doubt there'll be a second season, myself, but I've been surprised before by SK dramaland *cough* like the Tale of the Nine-Tailed extra seasons nobody asked for *cough*).
She's supposed to be the main villain and is only in it for the money. The villains-assemble! cast at that table also looks to be there just in case some of them would be willing to resume their roles.
Ryt? My fav scene so far was from ep 9 gun one. It's like going the BL route LoL n still not BL. I'm fine with…
IMHO they didn't show Du Cheng pulling Shen Yi from the water in that serial swindler episode (because there's no way an ambulance would have gotten there in time) because then he'd have to give him CPR. And that includes mouth-to-mouth, And THEN where would we all be? :D The drama wouldn't have made it out from the censorship bureau LOL.
PS Also, is that Luo YunXi's shadow as Chu WanNing in your profile pic? Because that nose is (almost) impossible to mix up with someone else's. And I can't think of any other drama he's in - or about to be in - than 2ha.
Are there powers or good fight scenes in this? I hear a lot about everything else, but the only thing I think…
Wei WuXian (ML) can control spirits (it's corpses in the novel, but censorship didn't even want to consider that, LOL) and is using them for fighting.
Lan WangJi (the other ML) and basically his whole clan can use music in order to fight - and also can control and/or quiet spirits with it.
They all can use swords, and there are some battle scenes, individual and melees.
But this is not a drama about wars and battles, and not even about mastering a fighting style. It's a drama about people and what makes them tick, and about assumptions, redemption, betrayal, sacrifice and love.
I'm on ep 28 and I love Wei Wuxian. I hate that they misunderstood him and malign all of his actions after the…
He is not the Clan Leader, he's just a teacher and the uncle of the Lan brothers. He doesn't HAVE any actual power other than being a respected teacher that all clans send their kids to in order for them to get a good education and discipline. And given certain circumstances about his own brother, the father of the two Lan brothers, he is VERY much against anyone who might even hint is not well-disciplined, nevermind someone like WWX. In the drama, by this point Lan XiChen is actually the Clan Leader, as his father is now gone (there's a bit of a difference in the book timeline, but esentially the father, the former Clan Leader, is out of the picture after the Wen Clan burned down Cloud Recesses.) So no, Lan QiRen is there just as a teacher (or Master), not a leading power figure.
Lan XiChen on the other hand, is very much the model Clan Leader but he has this friend that he trusts just as much as LWJ trusts WWX and well... things happen.
I hope it's a joke because I just started it but if there is a romance centered plot at the end I'm not going…
There is no romance LOL. The OP means they put in a smidgeon of a rosy ending scene to make watchers a bit uncertain, before hitting them with the real ending (which is a huge surprise).
Be assured nobody's concerned with anything romantic throughout the series, LOL. And I definitely get the feeling of wanting romance-free (or as much as possible) police/heist stories :D
And non-spoilery comments - it seems cdramas have found a certain stride in contemporary non-romantic dramas.…
I was going to, but I read a spoiler in here that his character died. So unless he was a villain there (which he probably wasn't) I need more time to prepare for it.
I'm sorry but in 01:03:00 of ep 12, did that guy working for Cho Tae sub just put the syringe with the needle…
We didn't get to see it, but he has a black hole in his pocket. So anything he puts there gets forever caught in the event horizon. It would definitely never come in the way of a good a** kicking. Heh.
I want to bet you he'll die one day stung by his own meth+alcohol syringe, but I couldn't give a f*** at this time, pardon my French.
Episode 13: Wherein Kim Hee Woo gets the s**t beaten out of him by Dr K (again). Also, PPL in the middle of the…
WTH is this? Is LMS being the main villain the endgame? Is he trying to play CTS and bring him down - why isn't he confiding in KHW if that's the case?
UNLESS he's gotten so bored stiff with the antics of the always-plotting-never-finishing dream team, he decided to overtake the whole drama and become the main hero.
PS Mr Park mysterious-ex-special-forces-agent or whatever suddenly-turned-hacker has more chemistry with the FL (or she with him) and they'd fit each other perfectly.
Episode 13: Wherein Kim Hee Woo gets the s**t beaten out of him by Dr K (again).
Also, PPL in the middle of the ep, with some water painted blue with some crystal things. I was so enticed I felt a sudden need to trim my nails. *yawn*
Im just glad liao shuangs not a traitor, whew. Our suspicions about zwj purposely getting involved in the first…
Well, the necklace did serve a purpose, it's just that it was in the beginning, when he used this memento of his mother to short out the circuit in the vault so he wouldn't die there. And in the end, giving it to LZY, well. I guess someone wanted to throw in a pinch of romance LOL.
The message is definitely from his father, LJ told him he'd cut off the relationship and anyway, what would LJ congratulate him for?! They had a chance to talk directly, he told him what he meant to say. So it's definitely the silent one who wasn't ever found, and didn't want to risk the police finding him now either. If there's a second season, I hope it's about the father-son dynamics.
YES!!! I knew it ! That was such a satisfying ending.
And non-spoilery comments - it seems cdramas have found a certain stride in contemporary non-romantic dramas. Reset, Hunter, Under the Skin, now Be Reborn - they're all pretty good. I want more. Where do I get more of these?
YES!!! I knew it ! That was such a satisfying ending.
Particularly after the tease with the too-cute too-sweet possible love interests of both MLs that I don't care about, but yes!! A secret message finally. There's no one who could send it, or even care to, EXCEPT for Zhuang YaoBai. If this means there's a chance for a second season, YES PLEASE! I mean, ZY's body still isn't found, and someone so resourceful as him wouldn't have just easily died...
We'll just have to pretend the university wouldn't expel WJ for being a criminal (even if pardoned), or that he still had a chance in the legal field. I mean, we pretended that waterway was at least 50m deep LOL. So why not?
The setting for the desert city reminded me a lot of the best ep of Hunter - ep 6 - when there's a desert shootout. If you haven't watched that series, give it a chance, it's very much worth it!
My favourite relationship (sorry LJ) - that between WenJie and his father, hands down. You could see the love and care for his kid. Kudos to the actor, Pan YueMing. He made me really understand why would WJ still yearn for him after being left alone for a dozen years.
And then, second favourite relationship, WJ-LJ. They just clicked. Thinking about it, it's almost retribution for WJ not to trust LJ with the painting, given LJ's angry words about trust... I can find an excuse for him. But I loved LJ placing his trust in WJ, over and over again. They were definitely acting like mentor-mentee, at least on LJ's side. If there's a second season, I want them in the police force together (and not, say, on different sides of some heist...)
Last few episodes doesn't make sense at all. The ultra smart wenjie doesn't believe anyone, but the so call friend…
WJ is being desperate. He WANTS and NEEDS to trust Mr Xu because he was duped into believing his father is still alive and sending him messages. It still might come true, because why should Mr Xu know about his nickname? But also, Mr Xu has an eavesdropping habit so he could know that detail already and use it to further convince WJ.
And WJ is smart but not cold-smart. He wouldn't make a good lawyer anyway, I guess he could just switch to being a police officer, if his contribution toward catching at least some three major smuggling organisations and recovering the lost treasures stolen a century back would count toward his rehabilitation. LJ never lost trust in him and in the end it came through for both of them. He - WJ - is allowed some growing pains.
Mr Xu on the other hand is really a chimera - he organised all these intricate plots, defused other orgs' plans, ensured all competition takes a walk, danced around the police for a dozen years or more, had so-called pupils - like Li Anfu - in order to pass on his skill, etc. and he still can't help himself but be crude and violent. I bet he killed Old Fang, and ZY, and that he'll attack Ma, his accomplice too. It seems to be in his bones.
In episode 22 or 23 we saw LJ drop his phone and completely break it, but in episode 24 his phone was perfectly…
He got another one. Probably just switched the SIM card to the new one so that his contacts were all there. After all, he's kind of obsessed with being able to contact people.
Not that I wanted to brag, but. I TOLD YOU SO.*crowing in victory right now*
Not that my last theory isn't probably wrong, as in, ZY is most likely dead.
But Mr Xu is fkkn Monsieur and I KNEW IT. I had a victory yell moment when he whacked WJ over the head LOL, poor kid. But he had it coming because WHY DIDN'T HE TRUST LJ? I just hope he gets some allowance from the law since he's cooperating like crazy and letting the police know everything just in time to catch Mr Xu when he thinks he's won.
BUT if ZY does turn up alive, I'll just do another victory dance LOL. This late in the game though, I guess they won't do another huge twist like that.
So, highlights. The thugs finding LJ on the roof, and he - exhausted - showing them his badge, then, barely breathing, D-don't run, it's the police. LOL. Yeah that would stop them. Then falling asleep in the surveillance car - I wasn't sleeping honest, I'm up, I'm up, LOL. Sure you were.
WJ being crazily stupid, finding the hidden weiqi pieces - I had a second yelling moment right then (the first yell actually was when he decided to not trust LJ but Mr Xu and leave with the painting. The fact I was yelling at him not to be stupid didn't help, since the episode was probably filmed some years back and there's probably no direct connection in space-time from my computer to wherever the character was at the time, so I could tell him directly how stupid he was being, so that he'd stop) and TELLING Mr Xu the secret. You know, WJ, for a quiet guy, you run your mouth a lot. Just sayin'.
The dead man walking - LOL, does that Dai person REALLY think Mr Xu will let him live now?! I mean, he (or DSH, THAT was another interesting piece of info) killed a cop, and he has a very mean streak, why would he leave any witnesses behind? As for the other one, it looks like DSH is really going to be left rotting in prison, well, comeuppances and the lot. Good riddance. I don't think it was DSH killing Old Fang BTW. I bet it was Mr Xu, he's way too impulsive in such matters, strangely, like he can't help himself. If anyone killed ZY, I'd bet it was also him.
The drowning - please stop drowning WJ, can we please, show? Or if not drowning, having him electrocuted to death, or in risk of falling from heights etc. Thank you. Also, am I crazy or did Mr Xu made the car go in the water exactly where the other car went in, 12 years back?! Like making it a full circle and ensuring he wiped out the whole Zhuang family. He really did hate them all.
The moment WenJie realized who Mr Xu was. The pleading in his eyes that it be not true, that if Mr Xu had to be a swindler, at least he'd be an underling and not the big boss, the person responsible for his father's death. (And maybe his mother's). My heart broke for him.
WenJie and Luo Jian putting two and two together - I just BET those are coordinates to the other artefacts, just as I previously suspected. And I hope LJ catches Mr Xu red-handed on that. And that he doesn't get to kill anyone else (maybe his accomplice.)
How come WJ was never told of the necklace though? Was it his father trying to keep him away from the underlife, but trying to have some insurance? Sadly it (very probably) didn't work. What if he's still alive somewhere though? That would be... amazing, though very improbable...
BTW I just realized where I knew Mr Xu's actor from, LOL. Yin ZuSheng played one of the bad guys wolf runners (contrabandists) in Hunter / Wolf Hunter, that I actually loved. No wonder I didn't trust him, even though I didn't remember him immediately LOL. He wore way too many (and different) clothes in that series, but now I remembered, it's really strange I didn't recognize him from the very beginning. Oh well.
So... Please please please Luo Jian put a good word in for WenJie so that he doesn't pay too much for being too young and stupid and hoping his father was alive. And also, let every good guy also stay alive. Let's go on to the finale!
Suggestions for new viewer you can watch special edition first it's short plus focus on main character and you…
Counter suggestion - original version is better, a lot of nuance and details are gone in the special edition, with just a few extra scenes or longer edits of the same scenes. The SE is good for someone who would like to see the more romantic part first and mostly, but the OE is where all the goodies are hidden :D
Is there any romance or anything, since it has 3 fl
No, this is strictly a police/heist/revenge story. One of the female characters is WJ's friend (there are hints but nothing very obvious), and the other two are police officers, pretty self-reliant too. The story doesn't really need a romance plot anyway, TBH.
She's supposed to be the main villain and is only in it for the money. The villains-assemble! cast at that table also looks to be there just in case some of them would be willing to resume their roles.
Nevermind her, LOL.

Make it so, writer-nim!
