You are at the same point where I was when this series began! I've already had the novel and seeing how great this story was on screen, loving every minute of it, I decided to read the novel to double up the enjoyment! Unfortunately it didn't work out that way! Now I'm really hoping that the adaptation will have more sensible modifications (some changes are already been placed in from the start) that makes this BL much more palatable without sacrificing the base of the storyline! Fingers crossed!
So, I was debating if I should post this, but honestly, I wish that I was forewarned abut the novel that this series was adapted from! This is a FAIR WARNING for those who are thinking about reading the novel! The story containing PAGES of very brutal and detailed SA/R*PE!
I'm not exaggerating! I desperately tried to skip all of it, because I was so invested in the characters! Even just barely glancing at the pages while trying to get to the end of the scene as fast as humanly possible, barely catching a few sentences here and there and still it was enough to turn my stomach and wish for a lobotomy! I'm no spring chicken nor a shirking violet and I have seen enough horror in my life! I have worked in a war torn country and I've seen what a human depravity looks like up close and personal and it takes a lot to shock/disturb me, but hardcore, explicit and detailed MULTIPLE r*pe is definitely one of my hard lines!
So, I sincerely advise anyone who want to read this novel to brace him/herself, because there are absolutely no guardrails to shield you from the mental and physical violence that's been described in this story! Naturally, everyone have their own threshold of how much brutality they can stomach/endure and I'm certainly NOT here to discourage anyone from reading this novel! I just want to CAUTION the netizens, so they can make an informed choice before committing their precious time to read it!

I see the morality and prudence police has come out again! For the life of me, I can't understand why some netizens are even watching BLs ? Masochist much? Not to mention, that some people are clearly delusional, thinking that they are the only ones who knows what is a "correct" relationship looks like and if it doesn't fit with their view they just have to trash it!
Let's pretend for a moment that according to these people, this BL is "sickening" as some of them described it and pop the question: So what? Even if the relationship in this BL is toxic or unsettling, or Heaven forbid down right mental, (according to the morality and prudence police) where is the rule/law that forbids people from enjoying it? This is not a documentary or a wellness seminar, nor a psychology or a s*x-ed class! It doesn't support, promote, condone or normalize a behavior, it's just telling a story for entertainment purposes! Just a fictional tale of first love that won't hurt anyone!
Moreover, from a psychological stand point, human relationships are varied case by case and things that might disturb some people could be acceptable or even necessary for others to a functional relationship that works out for both parties! On a final note, teenagers navigating hormonal, emotional and s*xual chaos at the same time can hardly make rational/logical decisions when it comes to love. Honestly even we, the adults are constantly screwing up and have to keep learning to adjust and grow to maintain a relationship throughout our lifetime! Of course this is just IMHO as always and I'll see you next week!
I've seen that some netizens were wondering how a vampire/nour could possibly perform between the sheets so to speak, so let me post my answer here as well.
A vampire has no heartbeat ergo no blood circulation, so it should be a brain dead decomposing mass within hours, so how to get a woody would be the last problem on it's list! You can't use the laws of human biology on a supernatural being even though it starts out as a homo sapiens! I know that many authors use the completely unnecessary solution of "they drink blood" for the vampire to be able to do the horizontal mambo, which always makes me giggle because medically speaking, without circulating blood every cell starts dying within minutes including the ones in the vamp's joystick! Just think about it! The undead is capable of supernatural speed, hearing, vision, smell, strength and even various magical abilities as being telepathic, can turn into a bat, levitating or flying and having no reflection in the mirror just to name a few commonly used traits from vampire lore! So, clearly, using human biology as a reference is pretty silly! I think insufficient blood flow is definitely not an issue with vampire physiology! I think it's safe to say that such simple, human thing as getting a stiffy shouldn't be a problem for such a creature, wouldn't you agree?

This BL looks well put together so far! The acting, writing, cinematography, editing and the special effects are all good and I like the OST as well! This series has the making of a surprise BL hit of this year! I don't know what's going on inside the industry lately, but first we've got a vampire mystery/thriller awesomeness with 'Nour' and now we have a zombie horror BL! Did Hell just freeze over and none of us got the memo?!
I'm officially on board for this series and I'm eagerly waiting for the rest! Of course this is only IMHO as always and I'll be back tomorrow!

Then, of course the European football season just began and the NHL season starts on the 29th so add them to the mix on top of such trivial things like family, working, eating and sleeping!😄 How about relaxing time and social life, you ask? That's what the holiday season is for, so I have a few months until Thanksgiving and Christmas!😄
Well, ladies and gents and everyone in between, alert the media, because at last, I think I finally found a vamp themed BL that's worth my time and it's actually very, very good!
Yup, you've read it right! I'm officially on the band wagon for 'Nour' and as a huge fan of vampire lore/stories/books/movies and a savage/unapologetic critique of everything vamp related this statement is no small matter!
I don't know how the rest of the series will turn out, but even if everything gets screwed up from now on, the first 4 episodes gave me something that I will be revisiting time and time again! Both the MCP and the SCP are absolutely killing their roles! The dynamics and the chemistry between both couples are off the charts, the writing is solid, the OST is hauntingly beautiful and I found myself completely invested in this BL! I actually got really emotional during the scenes between Jirat and Chita at the home visit and the Valentine's day hide out in the morgue, and when Ken and James did the car scene!
Phoom's portrayal of Chita is absolutely phenomenal and my heart aches every time when he's on screen and I'm genuinely worried about his safety both physically and emotionally! Boss gives a complex character for James, from being goofy to be a professional cop, through being able to be vulnerable and openly emotional for the man he fallen for and it is an absolute pleasure to watch how seamlessly he can do it all! Ken/TongTong and Jirat/Toey are very solid as well, but I think their defining moments are yet to come in the upcoming weeks as the plot deepens and their characters are ready to give all for the one whom they love! Even the story of the third couple Panin and Rain doesn't feel like a filler or an afterthought either and my heart is aching for Rain too! I swear, this BL is making me emotionally compromised and if we end up losing any of the main characters, I'll be a basket case!
Also, I saw some confusion about the last scene in many comments, so here is my take on it! Actually, there is more than one color in Ken's aura (If you watch it carefully or put it on slow-mo, you can clearly see that it was green and aqua on the right side and red and gold on the left side of his face!), so probably that's why James freaked out! If you recall the scene in the bar at welcome party, James could see everyone's aura and they all had only one color/aura which is the normal thing! At that time Ken's aura was a blank white/grey and James mentioned a few times that he can't figure it out why he can't see the inspector's aura! BTW, finishing the episode on a cliffhanger was a total dick move! How in the bloody Hell am I suppose to wait this long for ep 5 and 6??!! This is pure torture!

I think my calendar just ran out of the house screaming it's head off! Another BL squeezed into my September schedule, because who needs a life, right?!
Oak Company is on a roll, raising the bar for KBLs and I hope they will keep their high standards and will be in business for a long time!
Usually I'm not into high school BLs, because 9 out of 10 it's just the same variation of sweet fluff/romcom which is at my age is still perfectly fine if I consume it in moderation!😄 This one on the other hand, is definitely the kind of coming of age BL that is right up my alley with my favorite friends to lovers trope served with a side dish of love triangle! Yummy! Even though the plot is nothing new, (transfer kid comes to stir up the pot, forcing our protagonist to face reality), but it is well written and the acting is absolutely spot on! The NC scenes are actually making this series even more realistic to show how late teens have to navigate between raging hormones, constantly shifting emotional states and all the excitement, fear and uncertainty of falling in love for the first time!
I'm really looking forward to the rest of this KBL and my only complaint is the same that I've had every time with the other series by this company, is the length and the number of episodes which are too short for my taste! Of course this is only IMHO as always and I'll see you next week!
