It was an okay movie. I enjoyed the ride. I had to fast forward at the beginning, but when it switched to the FL's POV, everything flowed like butter.
I just realized this remake put a gender reverse spin on the story. Kiyohara-san, as always, embodied her character beautifully. I haven't watched the OG but given how the ML was the slow one instead, and the plot... It might not sit well with people lol. Even while watching I imagined how would it be perceived if it was the ML instead, and Bam!! I found out about the OG lmao.
Naur they robbed us of her backstory again. ππ I hope there will be another season or special about that. They teased us with her in a school uniform and left us at that?!!! Nah, I want more!!!
I shouldn't have read some comments here first before finishing and ended up figuring out who the killer was, but still that plot twist in the end was so good!!!! ππ I really thought home gurl got the Wednesday Treatment.
Well, your enjoyment depends on what you expected to see. The visual was amazing, the contrast and low saturation really gave off Taisho era like those war movies, but it's not "that" dark. The color grading and palletes shifted to fit the mood of each scene (Tamanoi with vibrant and neon lights, the train chase with rich color farmlands and landscape, or darkish military station, etc)
For the storyline, I understood the gist of it, but not all. Granted, I watched it without sub afterall. XD There were a lot of conversation I could fill in the contexts, but there were a lot I didn't know what the heck they were talking about.
Ohh and the action? Heck yeah, it was awesome. In gun fights, you can blood busting out with each bullets, and explosions on location too. We also love seeing women kick ass. Ayase-san is no stranger to action packed dramas and movies, I was rooting for her team the whole movie.
I wish someone pick this up soon, I will definitely watch it again.
