A simple yet addictive drama

I never believed that I would love this series so much. Just started to watch this only because of Nam Goong Min and the first two episodes were never my cup of tea. As I'm not a baseball fan I thought this series would be too much for me. But I was wrong. This gave me a complete insight of what I'm seeing and never felt confused in any episode. At the same time, this is not a simple sports story where we would get to see the worst team winning the league miraculously with a single guy's effort. It dealt with everything that a manager needs to handle in a sports team but in an interesting way. The side story of the players, workers and the General Manager blended very well with the story and I love how each and every character is unique.

After first few episodes, I doubted that this will deviate into what trauma that ML had and some office romance between ML and a colleague but this series never took that beaten track and gave a nail biting story in its own way. I love how it never felt episodic despite it has many side story lines.

The Main thing I loved in this series is how they explored most of the characters in this drama. They didn't simply explore the leads but also many side characters and I love each and every character development. Most importantly those character developments never felt preachy in any way. I began to understand the characters I hated at first and I loved the realistic choices that certain characters took.

Being a fan of Nam Goong Min, I will remember his role as Baek Manager for a long time. Though I started watching this for the sake of Nam Goong Min's acting, fell in love with the whole Dreams team. Seeing the entire Dreams team was surely a breeze.

A good drama to watch if you love dramas which are more realistic

This is not a drama where a prosecutor fights for justice or to clear someone's name. No prosecutor runs to catch a criminal or do some great investigation to solve an unsolved mysterious case. This is just an ordinary story where you can see daily lives of prosecutors working while glued to their desks. I loved this so much because it exactly did what it said in the synopsis. It was like peeking into a prosecutor office of a small town. And I loved how they kept everything within the office and didn't get into the personal life of the prosecutors and turning it as a family drama. The only problem I had with this series was that it was very episodic. Thankfully, they didn't take each case to solve per week like a detective series but showed various problems / cases of the prosecutors in each episode. I loved those non-elite team of department 1 and how Prosecutor Cha mingled with them. The comedy was not overly done which would have spoiled the entire show for me and I loved the flow of the drama which was slow but not draggy.

Things that I enjoyed:
1. Usually in these kind of dramas we always have an ML who is always right and wins all the time in an argument and FL who eventually learns from him. Here the scenarios were totally different. And I love how they portrayed Cha Myung Ju and Lee Sun Woong.
2. There's no unnecessary or forced romance between the leads just because they are leads.
3. Supporting actors were amazing and they made the drama much better
4. Love scenes between Jung Woo and Mi Ran were super cute though it was short.
5. Being a life genre drama I worried about some draggy melo parts but there were none. The comedy aspects of the drama (though it's very little) made the drama very refreshing.

Things that I didn't love:
1. I know it's not a thriller and didn't expect a fast paced story but sometimes the drama felt too slow
2. There isn't any structure that connects the whole story and it mostly felt episodic. So, as the drama progressed there were times that it felt aimless.
3. Could have given the supporting characters more time and explored them even more.
4. The power battle between the leads was entertaining at the beginning but felt annoying at some point.

A good plot executed poorly!

A compelling synopsis. One more korean fantasy rom-com which I love a lot. A good casting. Handsome and wanna-know-him kind of serial killer. Still, it didn't make me fall in love with this drama. What went wrong?
It has two interesting aspects - Fantasy and Romance. I would have loved it even if one was poor and the other was great.

First, Romance:

The leads fell in love very quickly as it seems like they were forced to love each other. Ok, I kind of accept the reason that ML had, but FL has no reason other than he can see the death of other persons. It was like - he sees death, I kind of feel pity for him, It seems he loves me, and the director asked me to like him, so from now on I'm going to love him. More or less I felt like this when they started to date. If some unknown person who can see the death follows me wherever I go and asks me to stay in his place, I would BLOCK that person forever from my life. But still she UNDERSTANDS him when she knew nothing about him and befriends him and little later fell in love with him.

And the story goes like they love each other to the end of the world and are willing to sacrifice themselves for the other but I couldn't find how they fell head over the heels for each other and why! Don't even start about the chemistry between the leads. They just started to date for all the sh**ty reasons they can find but there was no chemistry what-so-ever. I know, It was not THAT bad, still this is not the romance I would have expected to see after watching many romantic Kdramas.

Next, Fantasy:

I would have loved this drama if the fantasy plot was done correctly despite its romance. But there was full of potholes in the drama that there was no space in the plot without holes! lol If I started to explain, then I would end up by telling the whole story so let me just say that if you have any switch off mode in your brain, then watch this drama. Otherwise this drama is not at all good for your mental health. There's little to no help to the story with ML's ability - a non fantasy murder investigation drama would have moved much faster than this drama. The frustration that this drama gives you is no joke. Especially if you have any expectation. The drama did move much better and use the fantasy plot better at the end of the 15th episode. But isn't it too late?!

Third, Characters:

As I said earlier, not only the leads have no chemistry but the story was also designed like they had no brains too. The idea that ML had to stop the serial killer and the way FL went to CATCH the serial killer were dumbest moves that I have ever seen in dramaland.

The only character that seems interesting enough was the killer who was introduced pretty early. He seemed like he has so many layers that we will get to know about him slowly and Wow! that's a huge disappointment. With all the build-ups they give for him at the beginning and the wonderful acting of him with the face full of conflicts - he was a refreshing role in the drama but they made him nothing but a psycho as the drama progressed. And I seriously don't know the concept of the other characters pitying the serial killer and telling that they're trying to understand him. For God's sake, the writers should wake up from the dream. They are the ones who never explored his character and they wanted us to pity him for now. The only thing I can pity for him is that all those golden acting he gave, got wasted in this drama.

It has a nice setting for the supporting characters but not even one character was explored fully. Thus I felt no connection with them even when their lives were in danger.

Overall:

It has it's own sweet and nail-biting moments, but that was very little that those scenes alone couldn't make this drama better.
If it was one of my first few Kdramas, I would have given a ten. But after watching many kdramas, I can surely say this is not worth that much. So many plot holes, no character exploration and the scenes which were repeating itself made this drama an uninteresting one for me.

A good drama to watch if you have time to kill

The plot line is good but the execution is not. Could have used the fantasy element in a much better way. I loved it very much at the beginning but later the drama became so repetitive. Whenever the King finds the culprit, they will find a way to escape or King won't have enough evidence. This annoying cycle remained same till the end. If you hate powerless and dumb ML, then this show is not for you. I'm okay with evil ministers with King finding tough to control or arrest, but here the antagonists weren't even worth for it.
Some of the supporting characters like Wal made the drama much better. And as for the FL, I loved Jin Se Yeon in the role of Eun Bo, but she was also annoying at times and definitely not a strong and independent girl as she was shown in the beginning of the drama.
Chemistry between the leads was good with great kiss scenes. I loved the acting very much and the OST is something to die for. Would have been a wonderful drama if it was short. This drama is definitely not a bad one for me, but there were annoying moments and some draggy parts which I would wish to skip.

Heavy topic handled better in a lighter way!

This series may not be the best among the ones I watch. But I would definitely recommend this to everyone.
It's about how we should live freely in present, to the fullest rather than getting stuck in our miserable past. And the story succeeds in conveying that message.

Once a bright and happy 17 yo Ha Ni enters into the life of guilt-struck and miserable 37 yo Ha Ni, we were able to witness a great journey of self realization and self appreciation. All along the way, I loved how they handled the serious topic lightly with a subtle comedy in it. The comedy in the genre surprisingly, fitted well with the story and was never over the top..

The romance is so subtle but enjoyable and realistic. As the main focus is never on romance, I'm completely ok with that. Everything got compensated by our cutest ML. He is like a cute teddy bear and the sunshine of this drama.
I loved almost all of the characters and everyone did their roles perfectly.. The dialogues are deep and insightful.. It's a pillar of the drama.. Made me move many times.

Still why it's not a 10?

Though the ML needs some importance, his company plot at the end looked forced and unnecessary (which I didn't mind a lot because of some cute character interaction but it could have been short.) The pace was perfect at the beginning but kinda slow towards the end and also pretty predictable. Though it's a supernatural / fantasy drama with a time travel plot and no need of any logic, some things are hard to ignore for me..

That being said, still it's one of the favorite series for me and will have a special place. Nothing can change the fact that it's such a heartwarming drama with a wonderful story line and refreshing comedy. This is the perfect drama for those who want to watch a slice of life drama with a deep meaning but afraid of sadness in it.. With a deep heartwarming message and a perfect humour, this drama easily became my favorite. ^^
