Currently watching ep 14 and I can't say that the development of the romance aspect is very original. However…
Keep watching! I think this is one of those rare dramas that improves in the second half. I haven't watched the last several eps though, so hopefully it didn't fall apart later.
This show is actually improving as the end gets closer - not a typical feat for a C drama (at least the ones I've watched)! I hope the ending doesn't disappoint!
For some reasons, this drama has been renamed along with all the characters. The synopsis here is not updated…
I've read different things online so it's all confusing. Some have said that the production did obtain permission, but the delay may be due to passing review (since the source material is Japanese, they have to change some elements). Wish someone official would just release an update/explanation lol.
Ep 28. I take back what I said earlier (mostly) about Mo Qianzhi lol - there at least was some effort to give him some depth. Some solid acting as usual from Han Chengyu - his and Ding Yuxi's scenes are some of my favorite so far.
Watched up to Ep 27 - finally the whole world knows about that Mo guy...I mean...it was so obvious to us viewers…
Yes, I'm super suspicious of Prince Xian as well. Agree, villains are run-of-the-mill here. I'm not expecting much haha, but I at least hope our leads get a satisfying story and ending.
Dude was doing shaddy stuff and running the whole murder ring to reincarnate his Lil sister, so NO you are not…
I guess I was hoping for a more nuanced character, LOL. It was obvious he was shady, but given his past with Shen Du, I was hoping for something other than psycho. But this isn't that type of drama, and I'm ok with that.
He's just another villain of the day like Mrs. Tang. But now things are becoming clearer - a bit. That Lai dude is definitely the main villain (or at least one of them - I think that Princess is another). I'm guessing angst is coming our way in the last 10ish episodes. Hope things aren't a rushed mess - I'd like to see a proper build up to a satisfying showdown and some nice couple moments with our leads.
Ep 24-25 are some of my favorite so far - not only for our leads finally sorting things out with their feelings. I feel we finally get some added depth to other characters (like Pan Chi), and there seems to be a lot beneath the surface around governor Mo. I find him a much more intriguing character already compared to Lai Louzhi, who just seems your typical cray cray but with a thing for the one girl who is nice to him (but who is insufferable).
Oh my god, can we get rid of that useless, extremely dumb Lu Chui Chui? There is nothing cute about her and if…
Yeah, I'm afraid I cannot stand her character either. There's also nothing interesting to me about that crazy Lai guy falling for her. It's too comical (to me at least) for someone like him with someone (dumb) like her.
Just a bit past half-way with this drama, and I'm enjoying it for what it is - something nice to pass the time. It's not super compelling, but there's nothing horribly wrong with it either for me. But I agree, our leads need a true heart-to-heart soon or else the slooooow burn is going to snuff out completely for me lol.
