I find the weird lighting and unnecessarily busy camera work and odd framing of shots very distracting, but the story is intriguing, so will give this a shot.
Heading into the final 1/3 of the drama, I'm just not impressed with the 4th son. His wife has more brains and does most the the scheming honestly. Wonder what will happen to LBY? I'm glad so far they didn't make him out to be some spiteful crazy-turned-villain SML...but I guess it's too early to call it yet lol.
This middle 1/3 of the drama has been underwhelming and a bit all over the place. Hoping the rest of the drama manages to wrap up this crazy story in a more satisfying way. If not, I’ll just be eating my popcorn 🍿 watching it crash and burn.
After the somewhat train wreck of episode 16, the story is back on track. Editing is still crazy weird, but I…
Sighs, LBY. I wonder how far he is willing to go to get what he wants. He Lianxin is correct in guessing there is more to him than the genteel doctor person on the outside. Also, while the heir is a complete dummy and gets what he deserves, the father (prince An) is not exactly father of the year material either. What a terrible family to live in indeed.

The second 1/3 of the drama so far is experiencing the unfortunate lazy writing phenomenon often seen in C-dramas…
Also, I knew that the principal wife was gonna be trouble down the road. Going to watch until the end to see her get her due...unless the stupid factor is too much for me.
The second 1/3 of the drama so far is experiencing the unfortunate lazy writing phenomenon often seen in C-dramas (or I guess any drama) to achieve "dramatic" scenes that do little to further the plot or the characters' growth. I can understand if our main leads have some issues to work out as a couple - in the last several episodes they don't communicate effectively and are prone to reacting first with emotions rather than with their heads. The problem is this contradicts their previously established characters as being intelligent and able to communicate with each other. Their earlier scenes together showed that when they sat down and talked things through, they could achieve things together. So yeah...hoping this dumb dumbness just ends quickly so we can get back to the political scheming storyline and getting back at the evil ladies in the harem.
Before starting this show, I saw a lot of people on here complaining about the ML looks, the age difference (in…
It’s definitely not for everyone. Some may even say it’s outdated. To me, this is the kind of classic palace/harem drama that I grew up watching (kind of) when my parents were watching. The ML is not a perfect man (he’s very much a product of those times and being of royal birth), and I certainly don’t like everything he does, but I find him interesting. I hope he learns from his mistakes. Despite the drama’s flaws (the editing is very uneven), I can’t help myself but to keep watching, hoping to see the FL survive and thrive.
