The producers have always emphasized they created their own universe or high fantasy setting— “unique oriental visual elements”, “constructs a metaphysical world with a new order of human and gods”, “create a very different world concept”, “constructing a surprising new fantasy world and sensory”, “external visual scenes of oriental architecture (Cangyan Sea w/ Arabic elements)”. The bad guy in this drama is the sky emperor not demon realm. In fact, when you actually watch the drama there isn’t really a demon realm (although there’s a demon god, tai sui). In the drama, the people of Cangyan Sea are just people that can live a long time and practiced martial arts /magic. In the drama DFQC was changed from “Demon king” to “Moon Supreme” to appear he was not evil. His nickname was changed from “big demon head” to “big wooden head.” The sky realm found out DFQC is actually a god (true immortal body) because he cannot be killed. At Cangyan sea he just wasn’t call that at the time, they just say he is talented.
