Here 's the info on how to report subtitle issues at Hotpot.tvhttps://help.hotpot.tv/hc/en-us/articles/360025238851-How-can-I-report-a-problem-with-subtitles-I'll…
Yes, it's great to have more legal streaming options. I've seen a lot of the dramas they have on the site as well, but since they are brand new I am not surprised that most of the content is older shows. But, like you, I was able to find several shows that I had not seen before. Focusing on building up a nice backlist is step 1 for any new streaming service, and also the most cost effective. I'm sure that once they get a more established customer base (and start getting revenue from both ads and subscribers) then we'll probably see more new/ currently airing dramas from Hoptpot. Hopefully, they will work out the site issues sooner rather than later. It was difficult for me to see all of their available content at one glance because the Browse function had some problems. I had to hunt around on the site a lot to get a sense of the breadth of their content. Other problem I had was so many of the YouTube dramas they have are only partially subbed. Hopefully they can address this. I don't mind even if they are an aggregator site because there is so much content that has been subbed at the YT channels but finding it on YT is difficult, so even if Hoptpot wants to focus on aggregating, it would still be a good thing for people. But I think the ultimate goal is to be like Dramafever/Viki sites.
Thank you for checking us out! I think we've fixed Tree in the River, that should definitely be showing up in…
Thanks! I did send a message. Just FYI, I tried the Browse function again today and it is still not showing all of the Hotpot content. Instead it often repeats the same shows on each page. Dramas like Tree In the River, Love's Lies, Love Me If You Dare, are not listed in the Browse, yet they are available through Hotpot. If you want customers to use your site, then it's to Hotpot advantage to make sure that people can see all of the content that you offer and not just a fraction of it. I hope that Hotpot can fix whatever problems are happening with the Browse function.
Just a few things to note:1) Embedding official Youtube videos [from TV networks like MangoTV] is perfectly acceptable…
Thanks for that information, @Skye-N-Rain. I feel reassured now after your post that we are not being conned by Hotpot. I was really excited to hear about Hotpot because we can all use another source for legal streaming of Asian content, so I signed up right away. Then all of these posts questioning the legality had me scared. I would also add to your post: 1) For people worried about the subtitles: Any fansubs on the Official YT channels become the property of the YT channel. So if the channel give permission for embed, then it also include permission to use the subs. 2) Now that I find out the co-founder used to work at DF, it make sense that they use their connections to make a deal with AT&T to buy and take over the liscenses(which include the DF subs) for all of the Chinese, HK, and TW dramas that were on DF before they shut down. Since Hotpot now own the liscense and the subs, they can call the old DF subs "Hotpot subs". I just wish that Hotpot.tv had made a post here where they explain in more detail who they are and their liscensing process. I think that would reassure a lot of people and help to spread the word about them.
Where did you read that they're from Dramafever? Just curious because their about us section on their website…
@Lara They have some documentary films on their site that aren't YT videos and weren't on DF. They also have a few dramas from Viki included on their site. (I think) One example is Ever Night. This drama was not available through Dramafever. It is available on Youtube, but The video uploaded for Ever Night on Hotpot doesn't have any YT screenbugs or other indicators. Also, the subs are Viki subs, not the YT subs. This leads me to believe they must have made a deal with Viki to use their subs and perhaps their copy of the video? I wish Hotpot tv would make a post where they give a more detailed explanation about who they are and how they are liscensing the dramas. If the co founder used to be an exec at Dramafever, then it makes sense that they would use those connections to make a deal with Dramafever to take over the liscenses ( which would include the DF subs) of the Chinese, HK, and TW dramas that were on DF when it abruptly shut down. However, they are not really commenting on their process, so we can't know for sure how they acquired everything.
so do the leads have a 10 plus age gap in the drama ? based on what I have read in the synobsis. also is this…
I think the main leads characters in the drama have a 7 or 8 year age gap. Female lead is a 3rd year college student, so would be age 20-21. Male lead character age is 28. The synopsis doesn't really match up to the information given in the drama. In real life, the main leads actors are 2 years apart in age at 22 & 24. I really enjoyed the drama, especially the 2nd half. I found it an addictive drama, and a nice. easy watch. Definitely worth checking out! Drama is available subbed in english at Productive Procrastination website.
Thanks for letting us know about this new streaming site! It's great to have another legal streaming site for Asian content. I checked out the site, but I noticed on the browse function some of the content was not listed, such as Tree In the River. I only knew Tree In the River was available because it had been highlighted on the mainpage. Just letting people know that if you want to see everything that is available at the site, you have to hunt around. Question for Hotpot.tv: The drama Summer's Desire only has Ep. 1-2 subbed in English. Is Hotpot.tv planning to sub the remaining episodes (3-36)? Will Hotpot.tv be available on Roku in future? Do you have an app for the Kindle Fire tablet? Can members of Hotpot.tv send suggestions of dramas they would like to see liscensed and subbed on your site?

I'll agree with you that they are still working out site issues.
