Will this series follow the same story as My Day?
Nobody knows. Aki had some serious problems with Oxin Films (some comments here touch upon the subject) and said at some point that he won’t be participating in the sequel.
From what I understand, the general consensus seems to be that Aki Torres probably won’t be a part of „My Story“.

Inaki isn't likely coming back. He and them did not part ways well. There was rumors about payment issues and…
My expectations aren’t high either lol
But from what I understand TL and the other one were made by PEPPS not Oxin. Doesn’t mean that this one won’t suck hard tho haha, I’m actually expecting the worst. Partly out of my own protection 🤷‍♀️

Agree 💯%
It wasn’t the best BL (or even close) but it was memorable, especially bc of their chemistry and how natural them being a couple came across. I was blown away. So unless I actually see Aki I will wait for the reviews first. Then I’ll decide if I want to check it out or not. Having these types of sequels (where leads are suddenly replaced or killed/shipped off) is really taxing for me as a viewer -_-
Considering the sad rain in the teaser I don’t have much hope tho...

Yeah, I figured as much. I still have a shred of hope but I’m not expecting a miracle tbh :/

I absolutely agree with you on how badly the story’s narrative framed the dark elements. I’m using your words bc I myself couldn’t have phrased it better. The problem is not the fact that they used dark elements but in how they used them. And I’m wondering why they went there anyway bc the story wasn’t in need of them, it had other elements that could’ve been elaborated upon (step-sibling love, parental acceptance of sexuality ect.)
If the scriptwriters wanted to go there, then they should‘ve committed. Either make it dark or make it light, choose a direction ffs. It’s like they kind of wanted to go there but suddenly realized it’s a BL rom-com and stopped midway and turned the violence/stalking/rape elements into a „pure love story“ with half-assed explanations. Their story just didn’t make sense on the believability scale.

I guess they have to pull the plug after several controversies with the series. I don't know why I kept watching…

It's not inconclusive, it definitely has a commitment at the end.
Thanks!

Was it cut short somehow? I haven’t seen it but the reviews don’t seem to be good. Does it have an actual ending or is it rather open-ended? I wouldn’t be too keen on watching it if it has an inconclusive ending..

Miko just signed the contract in a livestream at youtube, he will also be co-producing the series. Aki wasn't…
I’m not following him on Insta but it sure is nice of him to notice the fans. It keeps the audience engaged and prevents loss of interest.
Yeah well, life goes on. If there really is no way for them to ever work together then that’s unfortunately how it is. I hope both parties learned something from this mess. I do wish both of them success though.

He was very vocal, yes. After the whole fiasco PEPPS seems to be at odds with Oxin too. They obviously tried to one-up Oxin with „My Toxic Lover“ but didn’t account for it to become such an astronomical failure. And even now, their desperate attempt at damage control by introducing a new love interest for Aki is almost ridiculous. The whole shtick’d be funny if it wasn’t so tragic.

Maybe Sean is tight-lipped bc of the struggle to get other actors on board and bc the script would depend on which actors are gonna want to be part of this project. But that’s pure speculation on my part. At this point my relationship with „My Story“ is tenuous at best. I’ll have to wait for them to disclose more info and then I’ll decide if I want to pass on this one or not. But I’ll be honest, if they really decide to break them up then it’s most likely gonna be a pass for me.

Yeah, the situation could and should’ve been handled with a lot more finesse. I guess he’s young and a bit hot-headed and it’s become what it is. I don’t know any specific details concerning the situation but from what I’ve gathered it‘s pretty messy. But they did get Miko on board again, even though I’m sure that at some point he mentioned not to be interested in the sequel either, so who knows?

Maybe the recast Ace will work well but I’m gonna say this: First impressions always linger, especially if they were positive. The character of Ace Tan is now linked to Aki in the minds of many fans. To accept the recast Ace you’d have to disengage the original actor from the role first and that‘s not easy. At least when Motive Village (I hate even mentioning this company) decided to replace their actors they actually made a reboot instead of a direct sequel. I think that way it was easier for the fans to accept the new cast. A direct sequel with new actors is always a big risk.

Title HIStory4: Close to You Spoiler
LOL OKAY he got his stepbrother drunk so he could sleep with him without his permission (should I call it that…
Agreed. His stepbro actively planned to take advantage of him. He got him drunk while knowing very well that the older bro wouldn’t have accepted his advances otherwise. They weren’t both drunk where one could potentially make an argument that it wasn’t anybody’s fault. The younger bro was simply predatory, that’s all. Considering how distraught XingSi was afterwards I’d call it dub-con at best. And it’s not like he's been in love with his younger bro all this time, he seemed to have fallen in love with him after all this mess....so yeah.

Maybe.
True, they may recast him but then what’s the point really? My Day was only as popular as the Sky/Ace dynamic, it had barely any selling points beyond that. And if they wanted to move on from Sky/Ace then why let Miko sign the contract? For a cameo? Then they should’ve just made a new series and let this one be remembered with at least a shred of dignity.

Are you serious?? Wow that’s great news! Still hoping they’ll resolve the issues with Aki and the rest and that he’ll give them another chance. I’m going to be honest, while I certainly hoped to see Miko and Aki together in the sequel again, I wasn’t expecting it. But that gives us hope for sure! Thanks for the news

I agree with you on many points. Especially on Mork being unnecessarily pushy towards Pi. I wish he would’ve given him more space. More time for Pi to realize his feelings on his own, without being pushed all the time. Like, give him a little time to miss you!

And yeah, the shippers and Bam were really badly incorporated into the story. I really disliked what they did to Bam and the shippers relevance in the story was questionable at best. At first I was a little interested in how the shippers would react to Pis (reasonable) requests but then the one girl who seemed to be rather understanding at first, reverted back to shipping Pi with Mork and even made it into a shipping war. Why was any of that necessary? 🤷‍♀️

But the one thing I can’t agree with you on is the music ;D I actually liked the English song,. Imo it fit the lighthearted tone of the story. But to each their own , haha
