SML is delusional. He has seen their closeness and just continues to act like he has a chance. He also saw how Matthew was letting himself into Ye Jin's apartment. And, throughout the silly dinner, Matthew was the only one of the two for whom she expressed concern. He also stayed when the idiot and the clueless father left.

She is polite to Eric because of business but has never given him any reason for romantic hope.

I am hoping the main leads come up with a plan to circumvent that BS.

It is bizarre. It seems, though, that she did bring him to the selection event to swing the vote her family's way. At the same time, she seems to really hate her family, which I'm sure is because of the marriage they tried to sacrifice her for and from what she said they've always treated her like crap. Don't know how they're going to get away with changing the recipe.
