I'm no expert but I think the idol dramas are those with actors like the leads in The First Frost, Amidst a Snowstorm of Love, The Best Thing, Love is Sweet, anything with Miles Lei, etc.

I think it can still also be described as a modern drama. They are wearing modern, albeit not current, clothing. It takes place in a certain period during modern times.

Despite the frustrations, I adore this series and am rewatching now for the zillionth time.

He doesn't realize that it was the nasty mistress's evil spawn that issued the invitation and thinks FL just forgot the invitation. He should have asked why she never visited, but then we wouldn't have a story, right?

The important thing is that he lets it go and starts falling in love with her.

That lady was a major nutcase. She seriously triggered me, so I cannot imagine how her child felt.

I am really rooting for him. He is so emotional onscreen

When it was airing and many of us were basically living on this page, there were definitely people here calling him a green flag and saying he should win the FL and it was very weird, lol.

I just finished my first rewatch and loved it so much. But one thing that struck me was Chris. Although like that taxi driver I loved watching the SML spiral out, WHY did she tell him with such confidence that Xiguang was still single? She saw the couple bonding and enough time had passed that they could very well have made their relationship official, but she told SML she was single like there was a wide opening for his delusional ass.

Around episode 23 (?), ML recalls when he first saw FL at the party and how impressed he was by her fiery spirit. They didn't actually meet, but his friend told him that she wanted him to visit her and go to see the plum blossoms. The friend was actually talking about the nasty mistress's evil spawn, but ML didn't know that because they never said a name, just Mr. Nie's daughter. He's upset that she extended this invitation, he has this terrible, life redefining accident and she never checked on him.

I thought the whole "Isn't that your student's cousin" thing was hilarious, too, but also kept thinking, Mind your own business, second male lead's colleagues. Don't you see how much fun our main couple is having together?

I love this series so much. Just did a rewatch.

You will be doing yourself a disservice if you don't watch this series. It's THAT good.

I feel your pain, although I watched these series as they aired, including the express episodes. And that was after the glorious period of Speed and Love and Sniper Butterfly. They were all so good that my alarm was set for whatever crazy hour they aired each morning, lol, like it was my job.

I have been floundering for nearly two weeks now, watching old things like Love Me, Love My Voice, 1% of Something, I May Love You, When I Fly Towards You, etc. It's really sad.

Today, though, I started a rewatch of SOM and when I'm done will rewatch LBL. I also want to watch My Page in the 90s, but for some reason have been sitting on the fence.

You are not missing anything, dear. Not a thing. Those people who think h'es a green flag are delusional and spewing crazy talk. Also, from what I understand there is little in common between the drama and the novel.

It's a miracle the actor wasn't constantly sneezing his head off the way we were talking so badly about his character when this show was airing. It was great fun and shows how wonderful his portrayal of this awful person was, lol.
