Its an idol drama. I usually mentally subtract 0.5 to 1.0 points from the dramalist rating.

Up to 2/3 very good especially the early village arc. After that some pacing issues and fell off a bit. Overall for an idol drama, not bad compared to the recent ones especially the ridiculous Legend of female general.

Ya, I think the ML acting is still pretty wooden compared to some of the excellent veteran China actors I've seen on cdramas. On the other hand, I think the FL will be a potential top tier cdrama actress.

Its the same with kdramas too. I guess they can't allocate the budget to film realistic massed armies battles but with AI available, you would think they would try instead of showing small squads running around as "armies" . I also understand for the sake of the story, battles are resolved by one to one combat between generals but that is just plain unrealistic except during the Bronze age.

At ep39 now. First cdrama I will finish actually this year. The village arc was very good ,,,,9.0 and provided the momentum for me to finish the drama. After FL becomes general and all that frustrating palace intrigue plot, the drama reverted to cdrama norm for me ~8.0 or so. My fingers started pressing the fast forward button. I think a fair rating is 8.5 to 8.6.
