If you mean the pancake wig worn by the court ladies, I have the same question too. They seem to be prevalent in older kdramas from the 90s but went out of fashion in "modern" sagueks where the royal ladies tie their hair in a bun and have a long silver or gold rod stuck into the bun.
You can't judge a kdrama nowadays, whether good or bad after just two episodes. So many recent kdramas start promisingly but failed to stick the landing.
