Photodiary ’87 was another intriguing short film by Ito Takashi. Unlike the 1986 version that felt more nostalgic, albeit with a bear cameo, this film had the underpinnings of a ghost story. Ito’s photos of buildings, trains, himself and his wife/girlfriend, a wedding party, and children was interspersed with a Blair Witch style haunted house segment. He did have an expressive and creative way of bringing photos to life and making them appear 3-D. Ito used a variety of techniques to keep things interesting as trains rolled by and spooky lights streamed in a house. Worth a watch if you have 3 minutes to spare or are a fan of his.
