I watched the series again (After having read the novel) and I hate it even more than before now that I saw the gap between the novel and the series. The mess can't be justified. Law restrictions can't justify the awful results.
I don't think your issue is with the actors, it's with the writing. I cannot imagine Andy pulling off a character…
These are just assumptions. For having been a screenwriter for years, I continue to assist to castings and I know how actors are picked. I can very well tell you that a talented actor can play any role but some actors just have the vibes for some roles more than others... as some actors, although talented and renowned, can't play some roles. Not anyone can play a villain for example and it has nothing to do with the script or the talent of the actor, it's a matter of vibes, of aesthetics... this is why some actors are chosen although they aren't good enough at acting, when one gives the right vibes, the movie crew hesitates very little... you may not understand but a screenwriter or a movie director would understand. When you see the right actor for a role, you just know it.. you get the feeling at first sight.. the acting comes second and rare are the actors that are irreplaceable enough to make a screenwriter rewrite a main character. This said, I'll go back to my writing.
I watched the 11 episodes in one go and I don't know what to think of this series yet. Something is definitely bothering me but I won't say what until I watch the last episode. Meanwhile, I'd just say that - it's personal - I'd have preferred to see Chris Wu and Andy Bian play the main couple. The first is for sure the perfect gangster and the latter is, for me, a better cop... he gives cop vibes that I am maybe the only one to catch lol
There's www.gcinee.com as well, but I don't know if this series precisely is available there. I watched the first episode on Youtube before dropping it lol
Contrary to Together With Me's sequel that disappointed me to no end, I like this short series. It's true that it isn't properly a sequel but I like the fact that it kept the logic of LS and LBC, the storyline and the development fit with the universes of the "prequels". My only regret is that it's done with Love By Chance's cast. LBC is a recent series, I would have preferred an "older" one ... like for example Make It Right, the series' universe is similar to Lovesick's and it would have been nice to see how the actors became. I have no comment to make about Phun and Noh, they are still perfect... as if five years haven't passed on their chemistry. Too bad they didn't have much screen time together :(
I've just rewatched both season 1 and 2 again, and my feelings are still the same. Funny, touching, intriguing ... really this show deserves a bigger exposure than the one it had. I don't understand how some "creepy" series become popular whereas some others are underrated. I know that the script is somewhat "peculiar", and it stood out more in this second season, but you ought to keep in mind that it's written like a diary. It's not conventional and that's what I liked the most about it. Funny LGBT+ shows to watch are super rare which makes Diary of Tootsies truly precious. Rewatch value: 10/10.
No, the problem of this movie is not the budget. The problems of this movie were in the poor acting and the, as much poor, screenwriting. You can't do miracles with a trite script. I watched very low budget movies and they were very good because the storylines were strong and the acting more convincing. Just to give a Thai example of a low budget movie that was good, I'd mention "Right By Me". I think its budget was lesser than Tom Gay's, yet the show was much better. So, no people. The problem was in the writing not in the funding.
I won't watch this because of the cast. I don't want to think of Sotus while watching especially when I didn't like the series at all. I like it more when the cast is new and unknown, it makes the shows more realistic in my opinion ... but everybody is free to watch and enjoy it :))))
Honestly the last Thai series I liked - more or less - was Love By Chance but it's more a teen series, not really suitable for someone with a mature vision. There aren't much interesting BL series lately. My Dream The Series was recommended to me but I didn't like it, the fantasy side and the BL side - if there were any - weren't balanced in my opinion. 2 Brothers The Series is a bromance, not a BL, Together With Me The Next Chapter was my biggest disappointment... and few others weren't relevant enough. In fact, I've watched more Wastern gay movies than Asian BL lately. I anticipate TharnType The Series to be great, I also have high hopes for a third season of Lovesick The Series that is, until today, the only Thai series with a sequel that didn't disappoint me. The 'Reminders' will be released April 20th by the way :)
I applaud the director and screewriter of this series. I thought that the first season was the worst Thai series I have ever watched and they gave me the proof that it wasn't. This is just WTF. I drop it.
I gathered the needed willpower and objectivity that I lacked months ago to watch this series until the last episode, without all the disappointment that I felt the first time, and I am glad that I gave it a chance, it helped me understand the crew better. I was a huge "fan" of Together With Me 1 and had high hopes for this one this is why I was disappointed. I am still disappointed. BUT: Now I get the meaning of "The next chapter" thing perfectly. This wasn't supposed to be something different in the first place, it was supposed to be another step in the same story, the same "logic". So, expecting the stage above was for a lot in my disappointment. However, I had other reasons to be disappointed. There were a lot of mistakes in this season and a lot of things that have no meaning and no reason to be: 1 - Korn does not have a sister anymore. In the place he got a homophobic father (yeah, for the sake of the drama). 2 - Pete took the place of Dr Bright at being a player, as if this damn series can't do without a slutty character. 3 - The misunderstandings are still fueling the plot Cho/Yihwa, Knock/Korn, Rit/Farm ... well, nobody understands and nobody is understood. Poor Fai who's the only sane person around, yet her character seems to be a lifeboat more than anything else. 4 - Three couples, three cheating facts, three breaking ups, three storms in one tea cup. What an overdose of nonsense! Don't you think so? They could at least save one couple and make it have different issues or no issues at all. There were no reasons for three versions of the same s***. 5 - The plot in itself is unrealistic and pushed over the edge. They wanted to reheat a recipe that works, not once taking into consideration that maybe the public had already had more than its fair share of nonsense to be compromising. Well, I won't say more. It would be only repeating what everyone had said already. I am glad that Bright and Farm are together again, although I was sad for Rit, I have always wanted Bright to change and be good for Farm, that will raise somewhat my rating for this season but it won't make it average. It seems that there will be another season. I'd deserve all its disappointment if I wait for any other season to this.
Not a good idea to watch this when you're into gay stuff. I kept wishing for Jin Ho to end up with the gay dude ... and, of course, got a good slice of disappointment at the end of the drama. I watched it years ago and watched it again lately, my disappointment is as fresh as +13 years ago lol
This season was a total waste of time. I am definitely not watching another season if they have the bad idea of making another one. I tried to watch the remaining episodes (from the 6th up) despite myself but I couldn't. The storyline, the acting, the harmony, the chemistry, the realism, the consistancy, the coherence ... everything was lacking. I am so glad that I put it on hold and didn't waste more time waiting for weekly releases ...
Greediness ... what a good way to disgust a fan !!!
@Iulia"Meanwhile, I am still waiting for it to be completed to watch it in one go"Some people just seem to be…
Considering what I read in the comments again tonight about the last episode, my expectations get even lower .. maybe that I have no expectations anymore about this series. Yes, I prefer to have one good blow rather than a weekly blow that would make me not watch the ending. I think the writers of this season lack talent and imagination. I agree about the fact that the promotion fooled a lot of fans, we all expected it to be the after wedding of the couple, well, it isn't. What I didn't like at all is mostly the fact that they are still on bad terms, still fighting, still going with cheap drama and not a single couple is happy, the plot is definitely not realistic, it lacks innovation, it's far-fetched and spineless. The writers made of the relationship between Korn and Knock a toxic relationship, one is a hypocrite and the second a coward, The crow of this series just wanted to make extra cash by rehashing a successful plot, they wanted to fool the fans with a low-grade show, yet the fans can't be fooled.
