I'm sticking to my theory that Xie Jiayu is the heir to the other kingdom. Making her and Xiao Wuyi the perfect match, and the only hope for peace. The token she inherited probably rightfully belongs to her.

Yes, and those are the people who still question the casting. They've owned their roles so perfectly, it's impossible to imagine anyone else playing them.
This drama has been so good that it's going to be one of my measuring stick dramas. I'll always compare any upcoming dramas to it to see if they measure up.
I have seen this actress in 2 to 3 dramas as side role. I didnt really find her to be that special and I still…
Go read the feedback. She's smashing this role. Literally the only people still going on about casting someone else are people who haven't watched it. She's performed so well that it's close to a consensus that her casting was perfect. When an actress owns a role with her performance, it becomes impossible to imagine anyone else but her in the role. Ai Mi owned it. You're pretty much clinging to a fringe minority opinion at this point.

Seriously, their chemistry is off the off the charts. I'm also watching a modern drama atm where the chemistry is quite good. But, honestly, this is better. They play off of each other so well.
I'm biased 😁. But, I agree. Pure on-screen magic. Be it comedy or heavy dramatic scenes. They just mesh well.…
No worries. You can find these on MDL. Remember to ignore the ratings for crime Cdramas on MDL. Anything in the 7s is good for the genre. There are too many fluff-heads here that overrate romance...
OK. Off the top of my head, here are some standouts...
"The Knockout" (2023) is the king of crime dramas. A long 39 episode crime epic. Stars Mr. Crime, Zhang Yi.
The most recent good one was "Eight Hundred" (2026). Starring Xu Kai and Deng Enxi. A brilliant and tragic cat and mouse game between father and son.
"Drifting Away" (2025). Really dark and gritty. Based on a real case. A truly sinister performance by Wang Qian Yuan, and a raw and emotional one from Zhao Jinmai. Possibly her best.
"Homesick" (2022) with the super gifted Zhang Zifeng. A very twisted drama.
Absolutely adored this drama. It was difficult at times, but ultimately a beautiful and heartwarming journey. Superbly acted and totally immersive. If I had to critique one thing, it was perhaps the event overload towards the end. I prefer fewer events, and more time spent on the effects caused by that event. Overall, TL is the very definition of a not-to-be-missed drama.

You've seen "Beloved," so I won't add it.
~ "WXY fans so they've unfortunately gone to attack Zhao Qing in their need for their displeasure to be heard" ~
I totally understand where they are coming from. They just want what's best for him. But, I agree, ZQ is an innocent party here. This is unfortunate.
KTTPH will have high rewatchability. So, we'll have to get our fix that way. But I feel where Holly is coming from. I'm going to miss this team 😭.
I actually hope the next Ai Mi drama released (as a lead) is "Above the Wall."
