Same. Getting anxious. But, I'm sure they'll drop it unannounced like they do with the many modern dramas. I'm…
Same, I avoid spoilers if I have been watching it with everyone else, and I fall behind at the end due to not purchasing the express. But, if it is going to be a while before I get the chance to watch it, then I don't care. I still really want to watch OG, and it will remain on my WL, but I will simply move on and focus on other things / dramas. You can only control what you can control. And, like I said, there is no point in me purchasing the two Western apps because I have no interest in the vast majority of the content.

Yeah, that sounds annoying. You will have to avoid this comment section and Weibo content related to OG, if you don't want to see spoilers.

It looks like the production company behind the drama prefers to distribute their shows internationally via foreign (Western) providers. Although it seems like more of a hassle to do so, it probably brings in more revenue for them.

It's frustrating because I've been spending more time in the back catalogue of Youku this year watching old dramas (tbf, some superb ones), than I have watching new dramas. I've only watched TBL, LOZH, and TSROIO this year. So, I was hoping this would be number four. And, of course, Mai Mai is one of three actors I give top priority to.

Hearing the bad news was definitely a downer. I'll just have to watch it at a later date if it gets posted on YT 😞.

On a positive note, since my disappointment last night, I just realised the complete series of AASOL (w ZJM & WXY two of my favourites👍) is up on YT now. It was going to be the first thing I watched when I finally purchased Tencent. But, I'm going to start watching today and CD on IQIYI. Which, for some reason, I didn't think it started until the 16th, so I'm a number of episodes behind. Also, although I try to avoid biting on a rumour, some photos have been leaking out all but confirming a certain rumour about AiMi (my other favourite) being Neo's FL in a new costume drama (still no official announcement though🤞). So, I'm getting ready to hit that comment section hard and start posting a tonne of bts content when it drops.

Can they just announce it already. Photos are leaking out, but still no official confirmation. We are in worst kept secret territory. When they make it official we can post the photos.

Sadly 😥, it looks like I'm out on this one. Shame, I really wanted to watch it. ZJM is one of my three favourite actors.

I already have two apps, Youku & IQIYI. There's only one more I want to get and that's Tencent. I need to get value for money from the apps I purchase. So, it's not worth me getting Viki because I don't watch Kdrama or Jdrama (I don't even watch modern Japanese anime anymore). It's also not worth me getting Netflix because I gave up watching modern Western shows years ago (once in a blue moon I might watch a new release Western movie). The only modern productions I watch are from C-ent. Hence, the official apps make the most sense for me to purchase.

100% agree. I'm curious, what did you love the most about that character or how WXY plays the ML?
Nice list. I believe he'll be fine, too. The cream rises to the top as they say. Barring catastrophe, he has the talent to do that. When you reach a certain level, you gain leverage and the freedom to select the types of projects you want to do. So far, so good. He's moving in the right direction.

CW shares a lot of overlapping themes with CD. Both are on my WL, so it will be interesting to compare them.  Although…
🤞 for that drama. A mixture of modern and costume would be perfect.

YZ's management seems to be a great choice for kick-starting a career, but at some point it becomes a hindrance to further development. On the one hand, you have to appreciate him for helping launch an actor into the limelight. But, on the other hand, you hope your favourite young stars have an exit strategy already planned to escape from him.

Although we all want him to go on and hopefully be recognised as one of China's best actors. We should probably appreciate this period of time when he's making drama after drama. Should he reach the Wu Lei stage where he's free to choose and picky about what he wants to do. The time between acting projects will likely increase (quality over quantity). Let's just hope the dramas are mostly good.

PS... You wouldn't happen to know where I can find a list of all the actors (particularly those under 25) YZ manages?

Well it’s not like being 16 or 17 makes a great difference
Not much difference in the real world. It seems silly. But it looks like AiMi is set to follow the Tian Tian formula. 17 was the age of HYTT's industry push into lead roles (it's a number they like). The two of them, since childhood, have had somewhat of a shared destiny. Often compared, and in some ways in a perceived competition. This project was even originally stated as a Tian Tian drama. After Tian Tian got embroiled in the earnings scandal (hopefully she recovers from this and gets back to doing what she loves), I actually laughed when AiMi surged to the front of candidates for FL. Who better than the girl constantly linked to HYTT (that seems to be how the industry thinks). One year and a few days apart. Both advanced actors for their age. Both with impressive resumes. Tian Tian with more lead roles under her belt. AiMi with a greater variety of roles and more movies. AiMi originally had a larger social media presence. Her Douyin content got a lot more attention, but Tian Tian caught up after her FL push and was likely set to surpass. Now, the advantage and opportunity flip back to AiMi again. C-ent can be a strange world.

There are people in this comment section saying that due to a copyright issue OG won't be available on Youku International. I choose to trust my own eyes, and I'll just wait and see 🤞.

Yes, I'm going to be disciplined and not panic until the countdown expires.

But.. Eek 🙀, I've just been reading a few comments further down. Please, don't let that be true 🙏.

I’m guessing international Youku may drop this the day of because I’m not seeing it on their website or rather…

That first clip was from them filming on June 27th. They did several takes of that carrying scene...Xingyue definitely…
Oh, it did briefly cross my mind when I saw it (have I seen that before?). But I couldn't place it. I did a quick check through the clips posted recently, but I likely didn't go far enough back 😅. I'm bringing Weibo reposting to MDL.

He looks very dapper. There's some great styling on both sides.

Title Love in Red Dust Spoiler
His lift and carry skills are truly superb. His FL is always safe in his arms. The clip where Ruohan has her hair…
That's the one. Impressive, you know exactly the clip I'm referring to even after posting so many 😁.

Yeah, I have three actors that I follow daily on Weibo, Douyin, and MDL. WXY, Ai Mi, and ZJM. Then, a large wider list of actors that I really like, but don't check in on as frequently. With regard to the wider list, it really depends on the project they're doing at the time. It can be daily if something fascinating is happening, or if not much is going on, it might be once a fortnight or a month. I'm always adding to the larger list, so I will probably add XRH to it after LIRD airs. I usually add an actor after I've seen and enjoyed at least two of their dramas. I absolutely loved her in TBT. So, I'm excited to see her opposite WXY. If you have any good Ruohan recommendations, I'd be happy to check them out.

To answer the question, I wouldn't hold back on this one. The Double stands out, but that's likely due to total chemistry including the aired drama. So, if we stick to just the bts, this is probably number one. Others may disagree, but the amount of content produced from this set is really impressive. It's just moment after moment. I can think of good moments with Zhou Ye. Their interviews / LS were cute. But, the bts didn't match LIRD. There are some standout clips with Yuxiao from the PM set. However, once again, not nearly as many as LIRD. Interviews and Hi6 added to that, but that doesn't count. I saw some good stuff with Lulu on the set of Jadewind, but still, it didn't produce this volume of content. So, I'm going to say that, imo, LIRD is his best bts chemistry. And, that's saying something because, like Ruohan, he is good at creating it. He's really maturing and getting better as a ML. He's looking confident, comfortable, and relaxed backstage. He really creates a fun atmosphere with his FLs, and that can be seen here with Ruohan. They seem to be having a blast together.

Oh, I agree. That's a good point. A bad performance can certainly ruin the appetite for similar-themed stories.

Yes, an actor needs to pay the bills and hone their craft. There is a bit of give and take between industry professionals on the creative / production side and those on the performing side. WXY has to put himself out there, and make the most of the opportunities he's given. But, at the same time, industry people need to understand what they have in him, and create / put him in positions where he is likely to succeed. I'd actually like to see more original scripts (not novel adaptations) in Cdrama where they build stories with specific actors in mind. In many ways, that's the charm of following young talent; you get to go along on the journey with them. Really hope to see him in a variety of modern dramas, and hopefully branch into movies 🎬 😁.

Cough! Cough! KMLM 🤣. Some scenes are so silly / ridiculous that they become the most memorable.

Yes, it's one of the things that often irks me the most about Cdrama, and I hope the screenwriters remedy it. Too many unnecessary and overdone scenes where the writers take it upon themselves to sell things that should be left to the actors. Death and love are often where it all goes astray. A good director should tear some pages out of the script and let the writers know that it's not a book (even if it is an adaptation), and we don't need all of that.

It's not always the ML who has to do the unnecessary / overdone scenes. But more often than not it is. I know Cdrama can write brilliant MLs, and let the visuals tell the story. We all do, we've seen it. But, from time to time, they ruin stories with great potential, and kill your enthusiasm for certain characters (usually male. Lol). I'm secretly hoping they understand what they have with WXY, and steer him clear of these types of roles.
