I didn't mention anything about budget. I am not aware of the amount used to make this series. I can see she wears several luxury handbags and clearly Balmain pieces, so that may be a pointer to a high budget.
I am talking purely about the clothing quality--very specifically, about the cardigan she wears in this one scene in episode 2. As a seamstress myself, I can tell that it is poorly made.
It looks to be a viscose blend, machine made, and the neckline and button holes are stretched out. That's what I am referring to.

You make a good point about her stepping into the role of grand princess, and therefore no longer connected to her past character. I'm curious to see this chance in appearance that you describe.

I think really what I am trying to get at here is that her outfits at the beginning of the series really are not flashy enough (for me personally) to sell the idea that she's this big influencer fashion giant, and that everyone copies and drools over her fits.

Everyone has their preferences, but at least stereotypically (and really, in the real world too), big fashion idols dress in a way that sets them apart from the rest--so perhaps very flashy, very colorful, very elegant, etc.

I'm glad you liked the outfits. I certainly don't hate them. You are right, her styling does feel elegant and tailored--which I love, especially realistically speaking.

Just that she's supposed to be this big fashion businesswoman, and you'd expect her to dress extravagant, eccentric, or at least very chic and eye-catching (while still remaining elegant and refined). I find that they did such a good job in doing just that with Do Do Hee's character in My Demon, and I would have liked to see similar styling again in this.

I just started this series, currently on episode two, and toward the beginning she's wearing this light blue cardigan with black rosette appliques--at first I thought it was really cute, but then when they showed her close up, you can see that the neckline is all warped and badly constructed. It looks so cheap.
I'm honestly shocked. She is a very famous actress, so how could her wardrobe look so...low level?
So far I've seen her in two tailored suits--the red and the peach--and they're nice. Not bad at all. But not interesting in the slightest. Exactly as you pointed out, "they wanted us to believe that she has a fashion company and her looks sell out every time," but I'm not seeing any 'wow' factor.
First thing we know, she's an attention seeker and wears red at the palace--cliche, but works. But then she shows up wearing a red suit? That's all? How about a dress, or at least some elegant patterned hosiery under the suit?
Ugh, maybe I'm reading too much into it, lol. But I'm not as impressed as I would have liked to be.

Anyone else kind of disappointed with IU's wardrobe?
For some reason I was expecting something similar to Kim You Jung's fits from My Demon. Anyone else feel this way?
