“Young boss of the Yakuza” That man is 40 years old
IRL, yeah. But in the drama, he's playing the character of a man younger than 35. He mentions that in the scene where he talks with his father. In episode 1, it's hinted that the FL is around 28-30 (almost 30).
Overall, it's a decent watch and one of the better yakuza romance series. The ML is hot af. I was hoping to rate it highly, but it disappointed me. The kissing scenes weren't great, though there were some sweet moments to make up for that. There was no mention of marriage or engagement, which irked me. From our POV, the FL never finds out about the ML's large back tattoo. They could have easily added a scene where she saw him shirtless...I was expecting her to notice it, cuz it could have clarified the "yakuza" allegations. Solid 7.5 stars.
by ep5 it gets better, and then peak after peak, the first 4 episode are a bit slow
I'm currently on episode 19 and I'm finding myself fast-forwarding a lot. I don't particularly care for the storyline, except for the hidden identity plot and the scenes with romance. I went into this with pretty high expectations, but seeing the Douban rating--it makes sense why I don't really have a sense of fulfillment from this drama, and everything feels repackaged. It really does feel bland, despite the actors being great, and the cinematography and CGI beautiful.
I think it's the plot. I'll trudge forward and finish this, but I can't say I'll be rating it highly. I'm trusting it will deserve at least 8 stars by the end.
