Everyone on this website calls anything westerized. Too much blood or dark themes = westernized apparently as…
hahahahaha. well, because it really is! and maybe most users here are asians.(maybe) i basically grew up watching both western (american) and asian dramas. and my oh my the difference. i've watched beverly hills, baywatch, sabrina, clueless, buffy as a kid and in my teens the likes of dawsons creek, charmed, gossip girl, the OC, lost, 24,prison break, walking dead and soooo many others with the exception of the nanny(sitcom) and 7th heaven as the most wholesome of all western ive watched, i could say asian dramas have waaaaayy more conservative themes, and with meteor garden, autumn in my heart, winter sonata, full house as my first asian dramas, you will really see the difference why western dramas are called as such. and basically up until now it is still called western especially if you throw game of thrones in the mix for the modern ones. asian dramas really pale in comparison to western dramas when it comes to sex and dark themes. korean ent. really tried to produce dramas that would cater to global audiences in recent years but it's still a long way. culture still has it to tone down a lil bit of the plots. and i love it that way. i hope it stays that way. if i get bored with the wholesome, at least i still have the option to go west for some spice. hahahaha

overly sexual scenes? In asian dramas?
i guess i have to be specific. THE kdramas that appeal to domestic koreans.... the kind that aren't banned and are shown in local korean tv channels. the kdramas whose target market is in domestic korea. and those dramas whose storyline won't receive backlash from its domestic viewers. that kind of kdrama. and not those kdramas that were produced for the sole purpose of subscribers' taste and preferences from various OTT with its own set of global viewers.

what can i say...? Namgoong Min never fails. and i mean NEVER. i really thought a costume drama wouldnt suit his persona, but boy i am wrong again. he really is a diamond of an actor and a cut from the rest. and the direction?? it's the perfect tandem for an actor of his caliber. i am utterly surprised how beautiful (and emotionally rocking) that 1st episode was. im so glad i get to watch this drama. i dont care about the ending. i am more of how i journey with this drama till the end. and i caannot wait to watch each episode with anticipation. congratulations cast crew!

you know when picking flaws to make some characters annoying or hateful etc, you (as writers) should pick one…
hahahahaha. i feel your pain. i can so relate. this type of dramas were of pre-netflix era. they are typically really looooong. i can just imagine how writers spend their days writing for this. πŸ˜† and yes it's a torture to watch certain characters. so in watching dramas, always watch with a mindset of being entertained for a few hours and dont take dramas to heart so you wont end up in a coma. dont say i didnt warn ya. πŸ˜†

enjoyable i must say. only because i missed the telenovela/soap opera-like dramas of the 90's, you know, those super loooooong dramas that keeps you watching in its timeslot because of the never-ending conflict of every episode? yep. this is that kind of drama. every episode just gives--- gives you a headache, because of the infinite # of conflict this family encounters everytime. πŸ˜† i missed this type of dramas wherein i have to wait 12 episodes for the first smack kiss scene and then another 10 episodes more for another sweet scene. dramas nowadays are full of superficial love story plots and overly sexual scenes in the 1st episode. i missed the excitement of romance build-up. thats why watching this was enjoyable despite the teeth-gritting character flaws of each character. will be watching more dramas pre- netflix era after this.

The worst cgi for me that I can still remember in my entire adult life is the deer in The Walking Dead. Lol. That…
For a Hollywood cgi from 7years ago. It was unbelievable Hahaha. They even released an explanation about it. 🀣 Anyway, for me Snow eagle Lord's CG is understandable. They can get away w/mistakes because xu kai visuals makes up for it. 🀣

Everyone just give it 10 rating. Antis are downvoting it. I'm glad to not hear this here. Just give rating what…
Even if a drama is πŸ˜•. If xu kai is in it, it's a 10 right away for me 🀣 🀣 🀣

It is not the first time we see this in kdramas. The 12yo teen and the 9yo boy or the 9 yo girl and the 18 yo…
Thanks for pointing it out. I love dissenting opinions too. 😁 My concern only stems from not getting used to the idea of literally using children in dramas to drive the point of age gap romances. Adults can do that when they become adults, but kids shouldn't be exposed to dramas where other kids their age are engaged in this type of relationships. It's like society giving them permission to do just that because they saw it on tv. Yk. I also believe, that as adults, we are responsible in shaping their perspectives in the type of relationships they'll have for themselves in adulthood. The kind of exposure we give them is also part of shaping that. Tv is like a mirror in real life. It doesn't have to be real, but it feels like it when we watch it. I admit, in some cases, it's like that for me πŸ˜†That's my point being. 😁

It might be true for some culture since it's still being practiced eg betrothal and underage marriage, but being in 2023 and that children are already being protected by laws from such relationships must also be upheld by our society as a means to protect and safeguard their rights to fully live according to their basic human right. Though it's just a drama, in my opinion though, it may bring certain repercussions to their understanding of romantic relationships. Yes, the world is evolving, I just hope though, that this type of romance is something we should as a society wouldn't come into terms with. 😒

I absolutely praise the director for the camera work and angle shots of nazha and kai. I didnt feel the chemistry through the characters initially, but men, the direction made up for it. It's one thing for leads to have that chemistry themselves but when the scene calls for the right atmosphere for romance, it's all in the director to make it happen. And episode 12 just screams that! πŸ˜†. I've said in my previous post I don't mind the romance part, but yeah, I've now changed my mind. Hahahaha.

Is anyone not put off by the CGI?
The worst cgi for me that I can still remember in my entire adult life is the deer in The Walking Dead. Lol. That blunder is so huge it's totally unforgettable. πŸ˜† So the cgi in SEL is fine with me.

In kdramas?!? 🀯 oh no. That can't be true. That means I haven't watched much kdramas in my life yet. πŸ€” I would rather not watch those. 😭I'd rather stick to my swoon-worthy romance dramas and daydream about them all day long.
