Finally!!! I've just finished it a few minutes ago! My goodness. It was really a feat watching this drama. Watching 55 episodes, that could have been shortened easily by editing correctly, isn't easy. I wonder who wrote the tv adaptation from the novel because it felt amateur. ๐. I'm sorry that's just my opinion. The novel might be good but on tv it doesn't reflect whatever was the vision in the novel. I really think it's beautiful because it gave me some moments of Love Between Fairy and Devil vibe, including plots. But the pace and the transitions are weird. But anyway, I have to check a fan made edited version in the discussions box. ๐๐๐
Some characters were build to be annoying on purpose. For the sake of the plot to move and for the character development.…
I agree! And it always helps our sร nity if wรฉ watch these dramas for its artistic merits and enjoy the creative license given to creators for its intended audience. It's nice to sometimes immerse ourselves in the character's pov but sometimes too, viewers are just going bonkers blurring the lines bet. Reel and Real...it's too much really.
I'm on the 6th and I can't imagine how they'll wrap this all up in 4 more eps. There's definitely a S2 if finale is a cliffhanger. I'm also wondering why Korea's ministry of tourism etc. Is supporting this drama. Bullying theme w/ the FL not cowering in fear but fighting back, is maybe what Korea needs now??๐ง Is this The Glory effect?? ๐ค
But will this make me cry like a child?? That's my main priority lol
For me, I didn't bawled my eyes out, more like shed a year moments. I had more fun watching this though because the humor used in this drama appealed to me the most. You might cry if you can resonate w/ some of the character's situations. ๐ Happy watching!
If you want to see more of Bailu's acting would suggest One and Only and Till The End of The Moon - the latter…
I love Bai lu! It's in this drama I find her truly amร zing ร s an actress, though I still have to watch her other works before I can say that. But yes, she's great and amazing, and gorgeous. I'll actually havรฉ Bai lu for my July fest. Hร ha.
It is, just so dumb! He has so much potential. He can have dual personality too. But he stays the same. ๐
Hmm. Maybe it was his personal interpretation. It looks like it. He could have done it differently but maybe that's the point of his character. To be dumb and immature surrounded by a group of people that's exactly the opposite of him.
The dramas I choose to watch aren't based on what I see in reviews and ratings. I'm watching this solely because of xu kai. ๐คฃ. And because the Korean version of this - jewel in the palace, is also beautiful. hoping to see better production in this Chinese version. And yeah, no amount of low rating can hinder me from watching xu kai in this. For the love of kai soso!!! Go! ๐คฃ
Reading the summary of this drama made me very excited to watch this. I've just finished Arsenal military academy and I realized that Chinese period dramas just hit differently. It's like being sucked right into a time period right with the characters and it gives me a feeling of being there as well. Yeah, that's how it is for me while watching cdramas. Lol.
Watching this drama for the love of xu kai. I've only discovered Bai lu in this drama and I must say she's a really good actress.Really, really good. Just make sure you have enough patience because i find it slow burn. Watching The Legends now because of the 2 of them and enjoying it more than I expected. Will be marathoning a xu kai fest this whole month. ๐
I said to myself last year, after it aired, that I will rewatch this every anniversary. Well, I can't wait for the anniversary. So I rewatched it ahead, like now. ๐ And my goodness. I'm having another withdrawal from this drama like last year. Even my Spotify is looped for the ost tracks.
If you want to watch the anime ver. This is much closer to the novel. The story begins with XLH just got her human…
You will be shocked. The Anime is just soooo different from the live adaptation- storywise. It has more humor but you will love it just the same. Like I do. ๐ Please watch that version too.
Start watching on episode 7(or 14) if you hate watching smart FL characters do harmful, crazy, stupid decisions in life because of poor self-image and insecurities. I pray that no young woman who will watch this drama emulate her pettiness coz it's detrimental to the whole of humanity (not kidding on this) lol.. If you want warm, fuzzy feelings and butterflies in your stomach, just start on episode 7(if it's a 16 eps). Or 14th ep for the 32 episode runs.
This is why I like kdramas because they ARE just dramas. They do make sure that it will remain just a drama for the audiences after it finishes. A great way to escape from our own harsh realities and enjoy it at the same time. That's why I veer away from too realistic plots coz it becomes scary sometimes to watch it as a form of entertainment. I watch the NEWS though to be reminded of what's real. The Good Bad Mother is balanced. That corny singer, samsik, and the MIB guys are perhaps just there to not make it seem serious because the rest feels real. And for me, that's ok, coz this still feels a drama at the end of the day.
I'm not sure how to start this but if you're looking for a drama with all the bells and whistles, explosive twists and turns, or even dreamy, unforgettable heart fluttering moments, then this isn't it....because all of those are superficial. PP is all about those important relationships a human being makes in his lifetime beyond the boundaries of blood and kinsfolk. A very simple and ordinary story but a well-crafted and well-executed storytelling; including the humor used. If watched w/ expectations, you certainly won't love this. But if you watch this w/o any preconceived notion of what it should be, you will begin to understand what it's all about and see where the drama takes you. For your peace of mind, let the writer and director take you to where they want to take you and not what you want this drama to be.
I love Kangho and mijoo's character and that is honestly what is making me stay BUT I am hating how this show…
I guess I call it a character flaw. In order to justify the actions of a character, we have to understand first the context of why that action has to be done in the first place. As a viewer, it's normal that we sometimes resonate with the characters and their situations. But there are certain conditions in a drama that calls for themes that are sometimes hard to swallow, at times, taboo. That doesn't mean though that it is normalized. I believe that for Kang Ho to grow up harboring revenge to his father's killers, it has to show that he grew up w/an abusive mother and bring that negative feeling as an adult. That vengefulness must have a root and what better way than to showcase a fairly abusive mother. It would be weird to show a very loving family as a child and then by the time he grew up, he just chose to be vindictive. The "abuse" I believe is used as an anchor to show his spite. And the mother became abusive because of what she experienced from the death of her husband.
There will be more seasons for this drama just like Grey's, coz there are plenty of stories to tell in a medical drama. I hope that in the ff seasons of DR tho, writers would introduce a special person for Kim sabu. If Kim hye su comes back as a lover and head of trauma center, it's even better. Lol. The firefly scene w/the old lady is so sad to watch. At the end of the day, it just sucks to be alone. So for now, Dong ju will have to fill in. My bias for that role is still Lee Young Jo(KHS) her credentials fit that role perfectly coz she's with doctors w/o borders and she's the first love. ๐
This drama is in a class of its own. Do watch it now. You might regret putting it off for a long time. I've just finished watching it and I can say that the production value of this is quite high. It's just way up there. The sparse dialogues doesn't make it boring, it actually intensified the emotions that are evoked in some scenes. I also find it amazing how each emotional scene doesn't have to be drowned out by an ost to convey a heart wrenching moment nor it should spew out a string of cliched lines in order to help viewers resonate with the characters and their situations. I subjectively believe that the aim of the writer is for the viewer to immerse in the characters' feelings and to experience for a brief moment in each episode what it is to be in their situation. The drama's message is way too profound that to use empathy to connect with viewers is too shallow and disrespects the humanity in all of us. Well, that's my take on this. But then again, please do watch this drama. I really want to see more dramas like this and I hope Netflix will continue to produce this type of Korean content with the same quality it has now for years to come.
