There are a lot of other instances. Many readers hated him. I did not do that though. I am okay with flawed characters, till both of them want to be genuinely be with each other.

I just felt if the director wanted to keep the slap for dramatic purpose, then it should have been before she heard his explanation, not after it. Because before she heard it, she looked really angry, really ferocious, so in the heat of the moment, I could understand she slapped him, but later she became too emotional so.

I feel when she started walking away after coming down from the horse, and ML dragged her in front of the tree to explain, at that moment they could have positioned the slap, because he was forcing her to listen to her and she was much more agitated at the moment. So this possessive dialogue just after the revelation of the big lie, made FL angry, hence the slap.

In the novel, there was no such trope. Princess Royal never went to the military camp, or took a different identity. I don't think she was even a medic. She and FL met in the last few chapters.
