He was not saved by Changxin though. Changxin doesn't know that Qi Min is not his son. No one except Qi Min and few of his subordinates who escaped the fire know the truth.

His story was told in the earlier episodes, about his father, mother, flashbacks from his childhood were shown, his training session was shown. Only the truth about 17 years incident is not revealed.

1. Qi Min is the legitimate heir of the throne. He is the son of the crown prince who died 16 years back, son of Crown Prince Chengde. It was considered that his wife and son both died in the fire at eastern palace, but at that time Prince Changxin's wife and son were also there. Crown Princess swapped their children, hence who died was Prince Changxin's elder son. Qi Min's face was badly burnt and he grew up as Sui Yuanhui, elder son of Prince Changxin. Princess Consort of Changxin, her son, Crown Princess all died in that fire.

2. Xie Zheng's father was one of the major generals, and his uncle is Prime Minister. That makes him a noble. But he is not related to royal family by blood.

Qi Sheng, the current emperor is one of the 16 children of the previous emperor. Qi Shu/princess royal is also one of the children of the previous emperor. Hence they are step brother/sister of Crown Prince Chengde who died 16-17 years back.

okay edit- Previous emperor could have more than 16 children, I am not sure about that part. Out of all the children Previous Emperor had, 4 were mentioned as far as I remember, in the novel- Crown Prince Chengde, 16th Prince(I don't remember the name), Qi Sheng (current puppet emperor) and Qi Shu (princess royal).

No Wei Qilin was a servant purchased into Wei Family. Later after he got trained, he served under ML's father General Xie in the army. But it was said he was very loyal to Wei Yan.
