As someone who was not in favour of love triangles...I'm amused in this one. Everybody seems to be falling for the wrong people (except Ling Xiao) or are just clueless about what exactly love is...hehehe A little Dissection plus spoiler 1) So Zi Qui wants to be part of the Li family so much as they are his entire world so if it means getting married to JJ to legitimise his status, then so be it. Curtesy to his friend's influence who thinks if ZQ thinks about JJ all the time and want to be there for her then = Love hahaha (I actually love that he straightaway asks JJ to be his Gfriend) 2) So Ming Yue initially was attracted to Zi Qui then Ling Xiao said some nice things to boost her confidence...and boom! her attention/admiration turned to LX and of course she thinks it's Love (gal is in for a rude awakening) 3) So Jian Jian found herself an online friend and it might have started off to fill the void that her brothers left but later realised she might actually have some artsy in common with her online muse after all. Once they meet or shall I say, he saw her first....they began to date (well apart from their words nothing else seems to show they are dating). And our girl is trying the hardest to convince herself she is in love and happy (and partly to annoy her nosy bros) 4) So Tang Can met ZQ's lawyer friend and it was Love at first fall (I mean sight huh)...Well their follow-up little unplanned encounter seems to solidify her serendipity wishful thinking after all....(if only it was this easy) 5) So Zi Qui's lawyer friend (still learning his name) laid his eyes on Min Yue and voila, it's love at first sight...sigh (well he has tough competition) 6) Then we have Ling Xiao who actually seems to have had this Love thing figured out and his unwavering love for JianJian is so cute...although she is none the wiser so LX gah, say something to our gal before you have grey hair. 7) Oh then we have Li Pah who will later marry ZQ's mom (yeah, I don't think she is right for him...but then again...noone is right for our precious Papa Li)

You just compared this drama to Story of Yanxi Palace?? Wow, now I'm curious to see the reason why, hence will continue to watch. To be honest, I have just watched the 1st ep and so far I'm on the fence. I was expecting a FL who plays dumb but give us a clue, she is intelligent and has some martial skills or something (after all she comes from that kinda family). But what I get is a little annoying FL with a whiny voice and who is trying too hard to convince the capital he/she is a playboy. So when you compared FL to Wei Yingluo, I am like what, where...don't see it. And nothing really special about both Main and Sec leads (one is just plain and the other is a bully). Anywho, since it was just first ep. (and you probably have watched further ep.) maybe I'm not being fair so I will give it a chance and open mind. Oh I now miss The Story of Yanxi Palace....Wei Yiloung was an icon and irreplaceable.
Let me VENT for a sec: So the 3 generation of Bad women are in trouble (who cares) and now Ling Xiao is put in yet another unfair position. So just because it's his biological mother does it equal to forgiveness for all she did and take him as her carer. Even when she is in hospital bed in a coma or something, this woman is still a problem. Okay, how about she and her little brat relocate back to China, get a house nearby and LX has access to see her or care for her ( not that I want that) whilst remaining with his current family. Nope! Because she gotta do what benefits her and doesn't care who gets hurt in the process, and in this case it's LX. The same, with Zi-Qui and his situation....If that damn bio-father even cares for him a little and worry for his future, he will help with his remaining education (financially) whilst ZQ remain with his current family and maybe, let him visit them on holidays (not that I want that) if he can. But Nope! He wants to possess him and again it benefits him. These were all my best case scenarios forsaking all the damage these praents-fools have already done to the poor kids. And they don't even deserve that, later alone the sacrifices that these kids will make for them.... Both parents are Narcissistic that I just can't .....oh my blood pressure... Done Venting :)

And they always choose the worst time to barge into these boys lives...I mean you come to disrupt them when they are in their finals, a time they should be concerntrating with their studies..WTH...they are the worst. And now I'm intruiged on how LX and ZQ eventually chose these pompous awful so called biological parents. One of my favourite pairing is back and in a Modern drama...Yeah Story of Yanxi Palace is one of those rare gems that I watched from back to back with no break and Rewatched it again...huh I have no doubt that I will like this couple again here but hope the story is good enough. I'm already intrigued with how these two with seemingly different lifestyles (one is already married and expecting) will come together.
