To be honest I have mixed reviews but let me try and help.
The story mainly revolves around the FL and her sect therefore she is at the centre of it all and you will see her a lot.
So the FL acting; well in the beginning I was not a fan because she pretty much was always a damsel in distress and the ML was always always there to save her. However once something happens she grew and you can clearly see some character development, she actually became more independent and likeable.
The ML character is basically to save FL many many times but he has a mystery of his own.
The chemistry between the 2 leads is what kept me going. Well to be precise, the ML kept me, hehehe.
The villains are either just cruel for uninteresting reasons, plain boring or funny at times and a few surprises.
The story is like an ocean wave, sometimes it's strong, sometimes weak and at times somewhere in the middle.
I wouldn't be surprised if you watch it, drop it or watch it, drop it then pick it up again or watch it through the end (I was conflicted as well). It's one of those dramas, I think you gotta be in the mood for.
The Bonus is it has a Happy Ending.

If you want a a simple and yet enjoyable story then here is your ticket.
The main leads chemistry is very cute and I really love the fact that ML never made things harder or bully her at all despite the fact he was forced into the marriage hence didn't know or like the FL at first (honestly I'm sick of those dramas of immature ML who want to make FL life miserable because they don't like her in the beginning). The ML character development happens at a gradual yet realistic pace and I love the fact FL always try to highlight his strengths which only made him to become better (I think we all need someone like that).
Oh and props for the Best In-laws ever...
They accept and love the FL despite her ?? identity and even when they find out, they still adore her. Actually, they love her more than their own son, hehe (Where do I get In-Laws like that of my own).
The Ending is one of the Most Perfect I have ever seen. You get satisfied and fulfilled like you have accomplished something, lol. (Rewatch value for ending = 100)
P.S. NEVER WATCH THIS DRAMA WITH AN EMPTY STOMACH.

Oh and the pace this one is going, I'm beginning to understand why it's 36 ep.

Oh if you think you have exhausted this story, then try again with this one.
The story remains pretty much the same but with a modern spin.
Oh and who needs aphrodisiac when there is alcohol and a sizzling chemistry between our OTP plus throw in shortgun wedding.
To be honest, in all my Cdrama watching, this remains my best couple.
Xi Yi is making me laugh and the ML acting is a little different from the usual, in a good way. Jian Xi, well is exactly how she is supposed to be. Not gonna lie, I needed a sec to adjust to Liang Jie's character as I have been used to the feisty, over the top princess in TEL.
The first few ep. pretty much introduced all our leads incl. 2nds....
Oh wow, Dylan is hot...no, I'm not wavering, I'm just appreciating...heheh
P.S. Do we really need a 7 Year separation??? And why the F*** is it 36 ep. K-version was just 16 ep.

I cannot even say enough, how much I love this drama...OMG
This is what I call zero expectation = 100% satisfaction. And above all, I actually love the message within.
In China, where being a divorced single mother is frowned upon, I like that this drama was a little light (although maybe nowhere near reality as not everyone would stumble upon a young, rich hottie) to all the women in the same situation. That life doesn't end after divorce, you can still pick yourself up, dust off and start again. Oh and the importance of friendship or shall I say the right friends. Another thing, I commend Xun Xun for is that she never succumb to the idea of getting back together with her ex for their child's sake. And that's admirable as a lot of women gets trapped in that "for the child's sake" scenario.
Another plus is it focused on Xun Xun's journey post divorce and not about the kid. In as much as I would have wanted to see her regular contact with her son hence more involvement, I still respect that it was about Xun Xun discovering herself again and of course falling in love.
I really like stories like these, simple and yet deep if you look close enough.

Thank you so much. I shall continue. I've been spoiled these days as they have been many strong FL from the start of the drama. But exactly like you said, there is room for character development so I should give her a fair chance.

If only it was that simple Hookup and Breakup...I will definitely watch. Because yeah, it's fun until it becomes a broken record. But the breakups in these dramas 9/10 are unnecessary or stupid. Oh and don't get me started with annoying bizarre 2nd leads.
But I get what you say. After all one man's treasure is another man's trash.

Please can someone tell me if it's worth continuing???
I have just watched the 1st ep and a lot of things I dislike happened.
A FL who acts stupid inorder to get saved by ML = Check
A FL who run around carrying something she is meant to protect, hence putting herself in danger = Check
A silly mostly annoying FL character= Check
All in one ep. And everything has to do with the FL character.
Please tell me she will change and very soon???
I really want to watch it especially for ML who I think is good.

I have adopted this strategy whereby if a CDrama is coming out....
I read the synopsis, genre, look at the cast, and check how many eps it has. That way I can predict how many breakups, possible cliches especially in a romance genre. Oh and then drop it like hot potato. Because 9 times out of 10, I'm right.
My pet peeve is getting the same old, same old stories even if the acting is alright. It's not entertaining but purely annoying.
That's why I treasure some meaty storylines with great acting and the ones that knows that lovers don't have to breakup for silly reasons because its immature.

Oh about the son, I meant Ling Xun Xun's son whom she hasn't told Cheng Li about (just to clarify). Well right now, I don't think she has to but hopefully she does before they start dating so it doesn't appear like she deceived him or something. The worst thing will be Cheng Li finding out through his mother (well that's what happened accord. to preview).
Overall I don't think this will be a stressful drama, the rest of the ep. are pretty much the fluffy cutsey bit (saw the previews of the rest of the ep.)

And I agree on ZQ and HYW.

Yeah I love it as well. It's a simple noona romance with no too much angsty. I don't think the mom will be a bigger problem on ML since he doesn't listen to her anyway. But she might mess with FL's head. Hopefully none of that since it's just 16 ep. We want a drama free drama. Another issue might be the son she has not spoke about to ML. I hope she mentions it before they date and he doesn't find out from somewhere (worse off his mom).
Oh I absolutely love ZQ, she is just amazing (I admire her confidence). And HYW is an interesting character..with that good-lookingness of his, huh. He could fall in anywhere but I would prefer his story with ZQ. It seems he really likes her and since way back when, but is also scared to confess just in case he is rejected. Funny enough, I can see some hint that she likes him as well but is scared of messing up their friendship.
I can totally relate to her behaviour...I don't trade on dangerous territory- can't risk my friendship for love. But I want her to in this drama (oh the irony)

You know when you always tell your friends about your ideal type; intelligent, appears cold but soft on the inside, quiet, caring, thoughtful etc... and they all start laughing thinking you're crazy and unrealistic. Well now I can just show them Zhoi Shi Yun aka Zhou bai bae....
I know it's a drama but a girl can remain hopeful, afterall who inspired the writer to write this character...hehehe

Well with all the making out, it would be expected but it would have been nice if they clued us in, not via suspected pregnancy. Not that we are perves, nope.

I'm surprised she even thought she was pregnant because I didn't think they slept together....
So I'm like can you get pregnant from food...haha

Yeah, at first I was sceptical as well for obvious reasons but I thought I should give it a try since it's just 16 ep. And also the ML was annoying in the beginning with his childish bratty ways but when I saw him being smart in business and actually giving the FL a chance, I changed my perception. As I said before, the story is very simple but the good thing is you don't stress or wanna slap anyone whilst watching it.

Watched 8 ep. so far but only first 3 ep subbed.
