Hmm….I read many posts of pp who are LBY apologists, or CSS blamist , etc, ……pp who are a tad unhappy with one for the way he or she had treated or reacted to the other, etc etc. …..So far I’m v proud to say that I’ve not ever been one bit annoyed, upset, angry or have any negative feelings whatsoever towards LBY or CSS from Ep 1 to 44! Yes I totally agree with you. I too can’t phantom why WL and ZLS said what they said especially by saying so, they are telling viewers that they don’t ship themselves! They’re downplaying their own CP and undoing the Director and Emperors good work!
They’re in fact putting doubts in viewers head when they’re watching the leads’ lovey scenes that it’s all pretence…
Also, how can they say what they said when they have hindsight the LBY & CSS had a really happy and warm ending? 6 kids or something! Why take this happy ending away from viewers?

So I get it now. Based on the book both leads didn’t know each other well enough at the point in time to second guess the others mindset and purpose and reaction to the whole situation. Hence it wasn’t a case of just one misunderstanding between those 2 but a caseload of it (it is literally a case of misunderstanding! Hahaha ….apologies the directors’ cornyness is contagious!) And to make matters worse, the book version CSS’s coping mechanism is denial! to the extent that she can even give LJT advice on LBY!

I’m glad the drama version is different.However, as much as I appreciate the production team tweaking the story and it’s character here and there to make everything more appealing to us viewers, each tiny little tweak is opening a tiny can of worms….. eww gross…. Let me change the analogy, each tiny tweak is like poking a tiny hole in an otherwise watertight water balloon. After pricking the hole you’ve got to create some sealing agent to seal it up. But this Cheng family saga, a whole arc in itself is creating a lot more holes everywhere among the already existing ones. Is the production team able seal all the holes up and return to us a nice plump water balloon?
Hahaha I like your reason for wanting a relative short resolution period. Yeah I don’t like YS too but he’s been redeeming himself so he’s less annoying to me now…. But my purpose for wanting more time for the leads to reconcile is coz that’s where the parties patch up the holes and make their reunion watertight. It’s been consistent throughout the drama so far that CSS is a character who needs to think through relationship issues weigh them compare them before she realise how her heart feels! She’s the epitome of the head rules over the heart type! So I’d like to see her going through this process again to unravel and sort out the miles and miles of tangled mess of misunderstandings. It’ll not only give her closure , more importantly it’ll give ME closure! 🤣 After all the whole drama would ‘ve ended by then, what do we do if we can’t move on? OMG! Closure is critical!

You have a point. And I think I’ve just thought of a few myself that justify why CSS & LBY Must meet each other and fall in love!!
1) the first time LBY saved CSS from the rebel soldiers near HuaXian….she literally almost would have died a tragic death like in the next second had LBY not speared the baddies. That d close to death experience is not in anyway due to LBY. CSS comes from a family of generals and government ministers herself. She’s linked to complicated politics whether or not she meets LBY. That time if not for him, she and her aunt and others would’ve died!
2) The 2nd time he saved her at the pagoda. That was her own doing too, nothing to do with him. Had he not saved her that day and continued to shield her from related harm (like hiding her jade pendant etc) she and her family would be in danger!
3) if she married LY, she and her family would be in a MUCH WORSE STATE! Right now in latest episodes, her family are in their situation because they are framed. There’s a chance for CSS n LBY to investigate prove CSS daddy’s innocence and get the whole Cheng clan’s name cleared. But the Lou family on the other hand….whoa….without revealing spoilers…. Those who’s at Ep 44 shd know what I’m talking about here. LY and wife by right shd be implicated too since the crimes are so much worse than CSS’s dad’s alleged crime.
Having watched both WL’s and ZLS’s interviews about LLTG, I am a little surprised and a little sad that both of them feel CSS is better off never to have met LBY! But then if I were to think hard about it myself based on what I’ve read about the ending and all, I might have to agree with them!
Actually I think CSS would be very happy and carefree leading a life with LY in a rural village far away from politics and war.

That sounds like one heck of a book! If the director is able to play all that CSS thought processes out to clarify things for us and herself that would be the best! But there’s so little time!! However so far he’s been doing a good job digging into CSS’s brain with the help of the Empress , QQ, YY, etc. If only there is a Part 3 that focuses on this reconciliation and healing processes of the leads. This is one show where slow pacing is forgivable and even desirable!
Btw, why was CSS angry when she overheard that LBY didn’t want her to go with him on exile? Surely she wldve known he had her best interest at heart. It’s not a trust issue anymore, his crime is too serious. Itd be selfish of him to want her with him on exile. I spotted in Ep 49 trailer LBY telling her (I hope it is her) that he had no choice to execute his revenge b4 the wedding becoz to do so after would implicate CSS and her family. That’s so true! So him rejecting her company for the exile is consistent and therefore shd be forgivable.
Btw also, at any point of time did CSS ever think LJT and LBY are together? If she did then she really doesn’t understand her man.
I’ve read about production companies increasing the number of episodes for some very popular dramas. Is that possible for LLTG you think? Maybe they have a lot of spare footages they can edit into the later episodes? Or or or create an epilogue maybe?! Possible??
Sismance of Empress and Consort Yue is really admirable. One is forced to marry and not able to experience reciprocated…
Yue Fei really knows how to respond with spot on, hit the nail on the head kind of precision whether it be to step on the old RY lady, lovingly chide the Emperor or to console the Empress. 👏🏼👏🏼
