Yes. This drama is an art piece. šā¤ļøāš„I first noticed DYX in Love Game in Eastern Fantasy. Loved his…
I started to watch it but wasnāt feeling it (sometimes Iām just not in the mood for a certain genre). Iām thinking of giving it another try after this one finishes airing š¤
This drama is so good! The acting is good, the production quality is there, I love the locations/setting, the editing is well done. I had to drop the drama I was watching but Iām so glad I did because I started this one and Iām enjoying it so much more.
I havenāt seen Ding Yuxi since Tiger and Rose and heās somehow so different?? More handsome and charismatic
Hu Yitian seemed to have been fading into obscurity so Iām quite glad to see him again. Hopefully he gets more projects after this. And Iām surprised to see he can still pull of a high school role! He may have the broadest shoulders of any high schooler Iāve ever seen, but hey, Iām not complaining
there exist dramas set in this era that are taken seriously...just this isn't one, it's more on the trashy short…
Well tbf I usually only watch romance genre. I canāt think of any romance republican drama that isnāt over the top and unserious. Theyāre like the lakorns of cdrama. But like I said, itās just another flavor. I can still enjoy it.
I feel like people who are new to cdramas and watching this due to ZLHās recent surge in popularity will be disappointed and possibly turned off. Republic era dramas are a specific flavor that cannot be taken seriously. Just turn your brain off and enjoy the guilty pleasure. But they donāt represent cdramas as a whole
Watched the first ep and Iām really intrigued so far!
I usually donāt watch anything with Zhang Ruo Nan, Alan Fang or Zhang Yuxi. Yang Yang is one of the best looking people Iāve ever seen in my life, but his acting has always been pretty bad. Basically this is one of my worst castings but I donāt have anything else to watch, and hey what do you know, I think I might have my mind changed by the end!
It seems the issue is these short dramas used their likeness without permission (without paying), NOT that the actors are condemning the use of AI itself. Avenuex talked about how iQiyi (iirc) announced theyāre going to start doing AI dramas using the likeness of actors on a project by project basis, and tons of top actors signed onto it. Pretty depressing
I honestly agree. I love cdramas but they honestly need to work on better stories. I have a lot of problems with Pursuit of Jade. Number one being: sheās a badass general who can defeat battle hardened generals with a lifetimeās worth of experience because sheās a girl boss butcher? Give me a break. They loosely alluded to her father teaching her in the past but never do they show her training. I practiced martial arts my entire youth, I have many friends who competed internationally and others who were stunt artists. When training for a competition, you train 6 hours a day 6 days a week and 2 hours on the ārestā day. For stunt work, you have to train every single day to keep in shape. Itās honestly disrespectful to martial arts that she can defeat these generals twice her size with literally nothing but āfeminismā. I also know someone who is a high ranking military officer and an incredible and successful leader. She works out every single day. Yet probably most of the male soldiers under her command could take her out in hand to hand combat. Thatās just biological reality. Fan Changyuās character is a caricature, which is a disservice to women, who actually have unique skills and can be leaders and change the world in our own way.
I was enjoying this show a lot until the fight scene where she killed the enemy general with the two maces. It was honestly such a turn off. It was like someone suddenly splashed me with cold water. Very little actual martial arts choreography, so unrealistic and sloppy.
Also, her drugging Yan Zheng was a bit much. I understand where shes coming from. He is a matriarchal husband after all. But I hope once she learns his real identity and capabilities, she has more respect for him and his ability to make his own decisions and protect himself.
Please please please Mr. Director, bring back the Goodbye My Princess Chen Xingxu! I fell in love with him then, but every drama of his since has been a disappointment. I have a feeling this director can work magic though and bring the best out of these actors who have the hidden potential!!
